You needed some context for the Shirai vs Baszler. Baszler screwed hard Shirai's tag partner, who was the title chaser for a while. MMA horsewomen have been bullying the sht out of the Japanese tagteam and the women division. Shirai partner was called up to smackdown after lost one last time to Baszler and Shirai just snapped, becoming some kind of viginante who was keeping the MMA girls at bay with a kendo stick. The week prior to the match, the MMA women interfered in a Candice match, so Io saved her, so she was repairing it in this one. Not sure if I like that Io Shirai just went nuts, but well, that's the storyline behind.

But Jim seriously is annoying when he starts talking like people back in 70s and 80s honestly believed the shit was a real fight. Anyone with half a brain could tell it was not real. I mean Jesus watch any Dusty match and tell me anyone buys that as "real". Jim need to stop believing that bullshit. It's been well known that people have known wrestling was not legitimate for long time. Grandpa used to say it all the time. Even when he was a kid they knew but still were entertained by it, no different than a tv show. You know it's not real but doesn't take away from your enjoyment if you can get into it and suspend your disbelief. You know Star Wars and Marvel movies aren't real but doesn't mean people can't get invested into it. But seriously Jim, stop talking about people exposing the business. Does he honestly think even people in the 70s and 80s we're that stupid that they actually thought wrestling was real? The business has always been known to be theater. My grandpa used to say that back in the early90s that people always knew it wasn't a real fight but still were entertained none the less. Jim really needs to stop thinking people used to believe everything cause they didn't, maybe some did but anyone with half a brain could see that it was never a real fight. It's not hard to tell.
Amazing how wrong you can be. Do you want the characters in the movie to stop and talk to the camera? The show should be kept as real as possible so people can buy into the action as much as possible.

I love JIm , but there is paradigm shift in pro-wrestling - "WOW" can draw money , yes selling and psychology is important, but there is time and place for everything. Many of the indi guys depends on cool moves to get over, i do not say that is the right thing to do ,but few guys made it just for doin' some crazy ass shits.
Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins winning the belts after a grueling ladder match, and then not only no-selling everything they’ve been through, but jumping and dancing in the audience really tested my patience. It’s a ladder match where you took horrific bumps, but you’re well enough to jump and run with the crowd? Meanwhile, O’Reilly and Fish were still selling the match at the end of the night...

Real Josh 1. It wasn't a regular match, it was a grueling gimmick match where they took huge bumps. 2. Cornette is all about nitpicking things that destroy the suspension of disbelief in modern wrestling. 3. They didn't dance and jump around in the crowd at Takeover last night after their victory so they were obviously told something and are now improving on that aspect.

Jim is correct - Quaker Steak & Lube, best wings ever. Been eating at the original one in Sharon, PA since 91. They were better when there was just the one original one.
They had one by me in Dickson City, Pa next to Scranton but it only lasted maybe 3 years before it went out of business. But places like sheetz and and subway stay busy!

Has Jim seen any of Pete Dunne? He complimented Shayna on her 'joint manipulation' and ruggedness, nobody compares to the Bruiserweight in that aspect.
There are videos where he put over both of the Dunne-Bate matches.
Yes Jim has seen Dunne and he was a fan. Corny complimented him on having a great snarling heel face, the modern take on the British shoot style and the fact Dunne consistently went for a pin after hitting a big move. As well as the things you mentioned. I believe the only criticism he had of Dunne was that he looks a bit young.
Agree with Cornette about said state of affairs with fast food. Only people not screwing up food is local Chinese places. English is a second language yet they get order right. Pride in ownership.
Yeah but the Chinese place is usually run by family and they have ownership of the place. It's real hard to get folks getting paid 5 bucks an hour for millionaire corporations to feel "proud" about what they're doing.

i am not a johnny wrestling fan. but here's what i will say. dusty rhodes appealed to the comon fan by looking like a working man who spent every minute he wasnt wrestling at the bar. look at the "common fan" today. seomone unimposing with a hipster beard and no decernible emotion exce[t the stepford "smile on every face" who spends all the time they ain't wrestling on their keyboard. it sucks that its true, but johnny wrestling and his two expressions appeal to the "common fan" today.

Shayna is what Ole Anderson would be in today's Wrestling...Candace kind of gets away most things because her husband Johnny is top guy there..Jim needs to go on RUclips and see Sharai in stardom Wrestling and I think you'll be impressed...The whole team of undisputed Era group is so solid it's amazing..These guys have been all over the world and worked all styles and always deliver a top performance!..when Gargano was part of tag team with Chompa he was great but as a single he's good performer but not as great as HHH thinks...
Not sure about the 12 .8 ite sedway. 30 minutes to 49 minutes is a paid endiesenent for manscaping and the many pod casts the sidekick had. I will come back.

Don't know how they are around the rest of the country but Raising Cain's Chicken Fingers is worth a try. Not a big chicken guy, but solid food and a decent value. Don't care for the house sauce though.
Why is the host never taking his job seriously? They're reviewing shows, talking about wrestling, and the host doesn't even bother doing his job and watching the fucking shows they're talking about so that he knows what he's talking about. Not necessarily this show but other shows as well. You're not a wrestler or former manager. How about you put some effort into this gig and watch the fucking thing Cornette is reviewing so that you can explain whatever Cornette is asking questions about?
100% right about gargano, dude is generic as eff. Totally unconvincing as a wrestler. Can do loads of shit but like Jim said, so can most others now. His promos are cheesy and cringy as fuck and that takes some doing in wrestling.
What Cornette is talking about 1:34:39 is basically the Io Shirai V Shayna Baszler feud. Shayna beat the shit out of her friend Kairi Sane in the last Takeover and the things is Shayna and her 2 friends are just bullying and mistreating all the women in the NXT division literally invading in matches that have nothing to do with them and just beating the shit out of them so for Io Shirai it's a vengeful story and for Candice it's a story about rising to fend off the terany of Baszler and her friends.
Another great episode. Gargano's whole gimmick is that he is the every guy. He is "us" the perpetual underdog. I agree his facials may need work, but overall he is pretty awesome.
Idk, Roderick strong seems more like the everyday man then Gargano. In my opinion Gargano is like a Bret Hart type of character where he is really good at wrestling which explains his Johnny Wrestling gimmick. Johnny really needs to work on those face expressions for real tho

A lot of kids were listening to Nirvana, say a lot of edgy stuff, (look at the kids show at that time like ren and stimpy etc.), that was the perfect time for a deadman, big steroid muscle goldberg and a sneaky bitch like Triple H but this time is sadly over, when i say to an non wrestling fan that a burned mask man wrestled a dead man they only cry in laughter and they say "what is this for a stupid shit". Back in the days that was perfect because it was the perfect time for that stuff, but you can see it in the 00s wrestling goes down under with that stuff nobody wanted to see it anymore and WWE made a 180 (the most over guy in the WWE this decade was an American Good boy who got popular through a meme with normal people and a straight edge vegan lord which are some of typical people in this modern world). It was a long builed and i will never say that wrestling was as hot as it was in the late 90s but wrestling (not in the WWE) but all over the world (like England) are more popular now than it was the past 13 years or so. Indy shows can drew like 1000 -10.000 people, AEW had a pay per view buy rate of over 100.000 (which is unbelievable, only ECW, WWE and WCW did that) and now wrestler making more money than ever before. Its a niche yes but i think it will be the same thing like videogames and animes, through the internet the nerdy wrestling stuff will be more and more acceptable and now videogame companys like rockstar making more money than nearly every movie company. Its because nerdy stuff is more acceptable in the internet age. And you can see a slow uprise in the wrestling world (not WWE but thats their own fault), CMLL, NJPW, AJPW, English Indy Company all selling more and more tickets. Its a slow built yes but they on the right track. I hate the new direction i want the same shit back like you but im not an expert in marketing, i think they are doing it right despite i hate this new style of wrestling and i know how difficult it is to accept that new direction

I agree with Corny about the point he made on how “Every main event doesn’t have to be an hour long with every move in wrestling: I challenge anyone who thinks that a short match can’t be a classic. Go to the WWE network and watch Bret Hart vs Tom McGee.. the match was around 5 minutes long and was one of the best “wrestling” matches I have ever seen. Also check out Wrestlemania 3 Steamboat vs Savage is one of the best wrestling matches I’ve ever seen. Nowadays is all high spots and takes the “special” out it.
Exactly my biggest problem with Kenny Omega matches they are long and repetitive.
