- For many years, El Cucuy have inspired legends in Spanish speaking cultures of a bogeyman-like namesake who punishes those that have done wrong. The tale is especially used as motivation for children to listen to their parents. El Cucuy rarely woge in front of others to hide their identity. They behave in a vigilante-like manner and are known to administer justice (or at least vengeance) for those who seek it. Their attacks are very brutal, and their typical modus operandi involves aggressively slashing their victim's throat. They hold no sympathy for their victims and appear to actually enjoy delivering the fatal punishment. Murders committed by El Cucuy are usually assumed to be done by feral dogs, although individuals familiar with actual dog attacks (such as veterinarians or Blutbaden) can easily tell the difference.
From Grimm Season 3 Episode 5 'El Cucuy' - When investigating a series of brutal murders committed on criminals, to Nick it appears that the culprit may be a character From Grimm a Latino legend.

"There once was a man who lived a life so strange, it had to be true. Only he could see what no one else can-the darkness inside, the real monster within, and he's the one who must stop them. This is his calling. This is his duty. This is the life of a Grimm."

I love that hispanic matriarch's voice - it is so mysterious, magical, and soothing. She's gorgeous too.
Honestly El Cucuy is a hero. She hunts down bad people and stops them from hurting women. It’s a noble cause
That's not being a hero
@@giuliaferrari2318 saving people from danger? seems heroic to me
@@tieflingcorpse9817 it didn't save them. That's not heroic.
@@giuliaferrari2318 how did it not save them?
@@tieflingcorpse9817 it might have, in a wrong way, protected them. But it is a killer. It is no better than the men it killed.
A wesen that hunts down criminals and claws their throats out? Sounds like a very efficient justice system.
I really like this wesen.
@Doreen Mather My only issue that creeps into my mind is that the creature responds to the "cries of women". Does that mean that men can't call to El Cucuy for help?
@@foolslayer9416 El Cucuy is an old women in the episode.
@@foolslayer9416 From what I have read, mythological wise, there's a male version too.
@@kiratheusagiisworkshop5266 where did you read it I gotta read it too please
I love this wesen.
One of my favorite episodes.
Its like a wesen Punisher.
There also something heroic in that El Cucuy answers the cries for help and justice and comes when as if all hope is lost.
Yes, and finally it's a good thing someone like that exist
When I was watching this show they first did La Llorona , and they El Cucuy. I asked my self whats next La Chupacabra ??? ....Sure enough Chupacabra came season later lol
El Cuegle in the sixth and final season.
yea i liked that they picked stories from every culture Spain Mexico ireland the UK German China japan
The look that the woman shoots Hank when he asked her "Can you describe *WHAT* killed the man who attacked you?" My god the subtleties you notice upon rewatching old stuff..
well hank now knows that wesen exist and one was likely responsible. so asking to describe "what" makes a whole lot more sense to do then describe "who"
@@toomanyaccounts Yes but the point I was trying to make is that she doesn't know that wesen exist and the fact that he referred to the attacker as WHAT instead of WHO kinda shocked her.
@@markoljkrasus2888 well she admitted it was el cucuy. something she obviously would never have stated otherwise if hank didn't ask what had saved her.
@@toomanyaccounts again, it's the subtle little details that screenwriters had the forethought to write in.. yes, hank clearly figured out it was wesen (now that he is 'in the know' about the whole other world existing parallel to the 'normal' one), and this subtle prompt (Hank asking 'what' and not 'who', and woman giving him that shocked look of realization) is precisely what leads that woman to even entertain the notion that it was "el cucuy" that killed the attacker, cause to her, wesen are just folklore, stuff of bedtime stories...
@@markoljkrasus2888 well it seems that a lot of those spanish in portland seem to entertain folklore, not only calling out to el cucuy like with el chupabra. not only one going outright saying a dogwalker was killed by it but several guys rushing to pound el chuchapra with whatever they could get their hands then yell out to the neighbors el chuchabra was in the neighborhood.
El cucuy should exist in real world.
She is a champion
El Cucuy fights at the UFC.
I hope they do a spin-off show of Diana, Kelly and the triplets. That would be really fun to watch
There were plans for a spin off in 2018 but its still not happening dont expect it ti happen 😢
I hope so
@Mr. Carbinator oh I hope so
I would like to meet them
I actually prefer the original cast. But of obviously continuing with Diana, Kelly & the triplets would make more sense based on the show finalè
El Cucuy is a badass old lady!
Watched this episode last night on DVD. This show was fantastic.
I love Grimm and I stayed up all night watching Grimm on the weekend
Thanks
I watched all of them
I honestly wish that the show explored more on the different folklore cryptics like what they did for the 'El Cuyu' episode.
they did the goat sucker and explained the origin of bigfoot sightings in the first season
@@toomanyaccounts I guess that's true, and not to mention that the writers/creators put in the Wendigo
@@patzy0299 you forget Nick told Trubel a lot of myths were based on Wesen when she saw a unicorn wesen that ate children ie virgins
@@toomanyaccounts my dude my guy what. which season was that?
@@PandaBearStorm129 to which wesen are you referring to?
this was definitely one of my top 10 episodes of Grimm..

And they tried to arrest her, that was such bullshit. But I'm glad the avenging Wesen continued on her path.
why was it bullshit? she was at the scene with blood on her.
@@toomanyaccounts You know what I meant.
It was NOT bullshit. No matter what your justification is, NOBODY has the right to go around killing people.
I get your point, but they are police. They can’t just endorse vigilantes, especially since all her actions are fatal and highly illegal. From a moral standpoint, it could be argued she’s protecting the community, but from a legal one she has no official position or right to act as she does.
@@vexxama Yeah, if they were Sam and Dean they'd be like screw it go ahead and have FUN. But they're actual police and have to do things a certain way.
Just finished Grimm last night..4th time watching damn I wish they would make another on with the Triplets, Diana, and Kelly😭😭😭
They should bring back a younger, stronger El Cucuy. That'd be great.

I nicked name my dog “El Cucuy” an she always answers ☺️
O que mais me espantou nesse episódio foi a vitalidade do El Cucuy, apesar da idade.
É o disfarce perfeito, fora que é um wesen, bem diferente dos humanos.
Olá.
Mas todos os Vesens ficam mais fortes quando vogados.
Ayyy🙃 Justice is served brutally by a scary looking Wesen...💜💝💜

officially Pilar is listed as human but i cant help wondering about her
she is probably aware of wesen to some degree. there are other humans like her that are aware of supernatural occurrences in the Grimm world
She is a wise woman, she knows some stuff.
@@toomanyaccounts Yes. The royal families for example
@@amitkenan3878 its stated the Royals aren't exactly human

Fun Fact: the El Cucuy Wesen is based on a bogeyman
Yes, it has a different name depending of the country
El Cucuy faz valer a Lei de Taleão.
vigilantism can lead to 😨
Jajaj que chistosa la traduccion en español es el coco pero segun yo se es un hombre con un saco que se come a los niños, en fin esta chido este wesen muy bien ahí👍🇲🇽
???
Ese no es el ropabejerro?
Are most of the Wesen in the show based off legends and folklore?
Because up until this Spanish, I’ve only heard of one legend.
More about the tales but yes, from legends and folklore too.
But El Cucuy is just the spanish version of the Boogeyman who's famous in a lot of country
lol
What she is doing is premeditated so she knows what she is doing she's planning this
So?
She knows what she’ll do if someone attacks a woman.
They’re still initiating.

Eminem is gay and that isn't a joke.
The show really went downhill after a few seasons. Still loved it though.
They should have employed this Wessen.
Yes but this one seems to have a full-time job harder than the police's
