Yes, technically this is a sequel to the old kimba episodes, but it shows kimba as an adult and they changed his name back to leo. (His original name in japan and some other countries)

I love Kimba's interactions with Lune. He's so loving and affectionate with his son. Also really cool how he validated Lune's ideas about mankind and actually had a discussion about it instead of pretending it was nothing. A+ parenting right there. Way to go, Kimba.
If you watch the original 1960's anime or read the original manga, the reason why Kimba validates Lune's ideas is because he shared the same ideas as a cub. Kimba loved humans and wanted for humans and animals to live together. It's only when he founds out that humans can be cruel is why he stays at the jungle, to protect his fathers kingdom. In the movie he says "My duty is the protect the jungle. I won't start a war with man."
Idk there's an episode where Kimba takes his son in the middle of nowhere, then leaves him to almost die. Kimba only steps in when his son is about to be actually gutted.

When Disney rips off japan
Japan ripped off Western American drawing techniques like the big eyes and mouths with anthropomorphism for their anime and manga since the 50's. So without Japan allowing our stuff in their country, Kimba the white lion would had looked like the CGI version of the Lion King without the anthropomorphism. Oh and Bambi's mother was shot by hunters before Kimba's father was killed by hunters. So I guess Kimba ripped off many different story's to come to be.

Finally a movie that acknowledges both humanity’s bad side AND good side, yes we’ve made mistakes (mistakes that are both affecting nature AND us) but we are also actively trying to FIX those mistakes to make a better world for both humans and everything else (for example: the Lion population is decreasing because of us but the Lion species will never go extinct because of the Animal conservation facilities all over the world that are built by us with the sole purpose of saving them and other species that are going extinct because of our failings)
Humans never do anything to help other species.
Anything they do is a reaction to a problem they've caused.
Preserving species is the bare minimum, humans are responsible for lions being on danger then theres no good side here to speak of regardless of conservation centers.

Japanese manga officially started in the 12-13 century. And tezuka wrote manga before the 1950’s.

Dude everyone is tripping about the name. But no one talks about what humans really do to animals. We kill them, we destroy there habitats and we corrupt the world they are living in. His name is actually Leo, and always has been. His name was only changed to Kimba for the English dub, for whatever reason. But yes, that English dub name is what Disney made their MC's name suspiciously similar to. Jungle Emperor has existed since 1950 and the creator, Osamu Tezuka, was always an open Disney fan who credited them as inspirations for his artwork in the past. Guess Disney didn't wanna return that credit favor, though...
It's nice how they all be together and help each other when it rains, shows a lot about animals and humans...

And someone who watched this animation a lot it's fucking annoying to see all the comments on Lion King ripping it off rather than the actual content. We all know Lion King stole from it we don't need every clip of this show to have hundreds of comments stating it like it's a revelation. Maybe on clips that are completely ripped from the show but not every single one. And like I said before the character designs will be similar because they are the same animals, Simba looks like a baby lion cause that's what he is, same with Kimba.

I remember watching this movie years ago! When I was a kiddo I loved Kimba so much, the series and the different movies. This was a good one. Idk why though but the ending to this video gets me pretty emotional.
It doesn't really leave me speechless. Leo never wanted to fight humans, he just realized it kept jeopardizing the animals too much to try and merge their worlds. Lune having a similar more innocent outlook at first makes sense when he hasn't dealt with humans like his dad has, yet. Plus this movie was the end of the story, anyway. I'm not sure how people would understand or enjoy it much if they weren't familiar with the series to be left "speechless." XD

I want to put my opinion that there are things that separate lion King from Kimba and things that made them similar. How Disney reacted to their "beloved" movie franchise and how they didn't at least say, "okay, maybe there's another group of movies out there that is similar to ours," And instead filed a cease and desist order, and just straight took somethings from the show without admitting, was Grade A asshole behavior. TL;DR basically I think lion king and kimba should be respected as two movie franchises that exist, and instead focus on Disney's scummy behavior to the thing.
This goes to show how foolish and heartless some humans are. Blinded by greed and selfishness, they don't care if anyone or anything lives or dies. Those kinds of people will literally do anything to get whatever they want. That's all that matters to them. The moment a person or animal strikes back is when said humans act cowardly and run away to save their own skin. When will they learn? The more you take, the less you have.
What I like about this film is that it takes a unexpected twist like with the Bull elephant being hot headed, impatient and vengeful which are characteristics not normally associated with elephants

To everyone arguing about the Kimba and Lion King fiasco, just remember these few points.
1. Yes Kimba was inspired by Bambi, even the creators admit to that. And they used that inspiration to create their own story. Sure, both situations involve humans killing an animal parent, but how each film handles it is different.
2. Yes, Lion King is heavily inspired by Kimba, but the story has no humans, and is more of a Hamlet/Kimba love child. Plus both versions have their own quirks.
3. Yes, Japan was inspired by Western animation. But that doesn't mean they copied Disney. Japan took what they liked and modified it to make their own style. It is perfectly fine to be inspired, and their is no such thing as stealing an art style, unless you're stealing art itself or are tracing. If it was possible to steal a style, then we wouldn't have as many artists creating comics and shows, because their natural or comfortable way of drawing is "copying someone else."
the correct word is stole, Disney don't even mention that they inspired simba by Kimba. what they said that this story is original and not based on other story!!! even in the characters you will find big similarities like rafiki the monkey , zaza the bird, and even Pumbaa!!. Yoshihiro Shimizu, the company's director, stated that many of their employees saw resemblances between the two properties, but "any similarities in their plots are based in the facts of nature and therefore are two different works".
