In this new video, I demonstrate how to create a Pop Art stencil portrait of an astronaut. It's a journey beyond our atmosphere, merging Pop Art style, Street Art influence, and abstract inspiration. The completed artwork is a true explosion of bright colors, drawing an astronaut's portrait on an abstract background.
The stencil used for the astronaut is my own creation.
The painting is primarily completed with acrylic paint, with only the stencil part using black spray paint.
The astronaut is predominantly white, but to add volume, depth, and color, I've incorporated touches of color and gray throughout his suit. All of this is displayed on a bright and vibrant 80x80cm (32" x 32") canvas.
I guide you step-by-step through the creation process, from placing the stencil to applying the various colors. You'll see that it's not mandatory to use black for the stencil - let your imagination run free!

This reminds me of Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon. His daughter, Karen “Muffy” Armstrong died of DIPG at age 3.
I use Golden brand acrylic spray paint but the cans do not spray well if they are not held upright. What kind(s) of spray acrylic paint do you use?

Are those magnets to get the stencil in the same place both times?
No, just metal washers for the mechanics, to add weight and prevent the air in the spray can from lifting the stencil.
