    That was quite an interesting story! I think this is the first time I've ever seen a fan story about Toby's younger days at the harbor, and it makes a perfect origin story for him and Henrietta. As for Roger, the imagery of him basically being crushed to death is quite disturbing, to say the least.

    Ooh... Here I expected Roger to be split in half or completely flattened by the falling crane, but the picture I saw turns out to be just as gruesome. Never thought I'd see the insides of a tram engine.

    I have to say that getting a story about Toby's past is very interesting to do, as we barely get much. The only ones that I can think of are the special holiday from the books, a strawberry special and a rude green bus from magazine stories. Listening to Roger's pride/ego leading up towards his demise was quite a trip in its own right. What a great way to end the first half of this year's outings.
    I can't wait to see the Sir Handel and Edward stories next year, as Edward is one that barely get much backstories for.

    As tragic as it was for Roger, him being scrapped was probably the best outcome. The manager probably had thousands of dollars worth cargo that was destroyed that he needed to pay off, and fixing up a tram engine in Roger’s condition would probably cost somewhere in the millions. That and Roger being in so much pain, he probably wanted to be scrapped anyway.

  • @elirosen1391

    A terrifying yet interesting horror story!
    It's great to hear another story about Toby's younger days at Great Yarmouth Harbour on the LNER with other members of his class (and of course the J70 trams are unique in design) and how he became the main engine of the now defunct tramway in East Anglia alongside Henrietta. As for Roger, I will admit he was very arrogant despite being older than Toby as well (which reminded me of 89 from Gordon & the Ghost) but seeing that illustration of him being destroyed by the crane (since he was made of wood and never really got the experience he had in growth) made me horrified along with that illustration that followed the story a bit and it did remind me of Godred's fate as they are both similar characters.
    Still, I really enjoyed it for how it really is.

    A story that shows the past of one of the oldest and wisest engines on the island of sodor. Great episode that shows how Toby and Henrietta became the great duo they are now and how Toby came to be on his old line. This story reminds me of Broken wings from last years HOR III, and also shows that the managers have the power to take the engines as easily as buying them.

    this story was amazing, i never knew one of toby's brothers would be so arrogant when toby used to work at a harbor with few of his brothers, and in the end Roger's judgement got the better of him after an incident with one of the cranes. to be honest after the incident he was already dead by the time he was been sent in the back of the goods sheds. regardless you and the others especially the artist SeaSwine9 did a marvelous job on this story.

    Been a very long time since I've visited the land called Sodor; with it in the hands of the fans now it's more alive than ever save the Awdry age, and no longer shackled by writing intended for two year olds. Good horror in this world is hard to come by due to the inherent absurdities it operates on, and far too often writers struggle with going too far into the ridiculous or supernatural. Here we have the perfect balance, and filling in gaps in two beloved character's history to boot. I've been experimenting with modifying old and damaged ERTL models recently; I think I've found a use for my spare tram...

    My goodness, Joe. That was... FANTASTIC! That was just an amazing story, and kudos to the artist! The illustrations were just so good, but most of all, the voices! Boy, were they fantastic. Liz's Henrietta's voice is the best voice I've heard from her yet, and it sounds like your audio's getting better. Though... I think the narrator was a little off in a few areas. Kinda sounded like he rushed a few lines, but at the same time, his narration reminded me of Salty's storytelling in a good way.

    I love the story it give me goosebumps at the part when the crate falls and crushes Roger I just have one question what was in the crate that smashed on Roger

    • @colbelayton2848
      @colbelayton2848 3 года назад

      The picture show pipes but was there a bolier in the crate

    • @narrowgauge9717
      @narrowgauge9717  3 года назад +3

      The idea is that the crate was containing boilers parts like tubes and a main outer body of a boiler, like the one in Edward's Brass Band that hits Edward

      @colbelayton2848 3 года назад

      Ah I see that why the narrator said it had a heavy crate

      If Roger wasn't so cocky and rude and arrogant he could have been saved but as the story told about him he all three of those things oh and bragger so four.

    The harbor master’s cold attitude of not repairing Rodger shocked me. I thought this was way too far. But yeah. I can understand how the harbor master is feeling. Having to put up with Roger’s unbearable attitude and actions, throughout the years of him constantly trashing everyone’s emotions.

    Basically what happened to Roger happened to Godred in 'Bad Look Out'. Of course, it depends how the latter story gets adapted. According to ilovetrains323 Godred's accident wasn't severe enough to cause him to get scrapped.
    RIP Roger, even though you WERE a hubristic train. I hope other engines like James, Gordon, Sir Handel and Duncan take a leaf out of your book. Toby should've told them about you.

    I might have a guess..., that what Toby Saw could only mean what became of Roger: ..., ..., ..Scrap... All that could be salvaged from him no doubt to be used for the other Tram Engines.

    "Roger's boiler was destroyed, so there was little life in him."
    The scrappers payed to scrap roger: his crushed boiler can give black water a run for its money
