I feel like I’ve been screaming into the void trying to talk to other habs fans that we need more patience. The team is still 3 years away from competing. I think there is also a huge generational divide among fan base. You have the generation that saw them win their cups, and the one who haven’t. I feel like those us who grew up in the 90’s & 00’s are sick of all the years of mediocre hockey and are more willing to wait it through the rebuild process to actually have an elite team.
this I much rather see the habs go through growing pain now rather than in a few years. best exemple was/is the defensive issues. If the organization believes the hybrid system will lead to winning more games when the team is a cup contender better lose a few more games now and learn the system and not switch to something simpler that will be discarded down the line,
I’ve been a fan since the 50’s. I agree with you that fans need to be more patient. Fan impatience and unrealistic expectations only lead to unhappiness. Winning is still in the future and most of our players still have a lot of development runway. I’m happy when the team is working, developing and improving. 😊
Nice to get a balanced assessment of a point in the rebuild that looks bad to the casual observer, but is heading into a bright future in the larger picture, which you guys explain. I'm gonna call you "Bashughes and Gordin"....lol thx!
I really liked when you talked about Reinbacher. I also think he might have played this season. I watched him play in NL, OGQ and with the Rocket and he seems to always take the right decision. However, it seems that he stuggled more than last year (in my eyes) this preseason, but I suppose its the complicated hybride system they play which he never (i think) played in his carreer.
There was a technical issue for awhile last evening where the episode was not available on audio, whether it be Apple, Spotify or others. It's been fixed.
Regarding the negative surrounding MSL, it's always the same with the fans. There's a story that breaks out, like Dvorak has a turnover or two in a game, and they will stick to it for months thinking things haven't changed. Habs got blown out by New York and defense was pathetic, surely a month later, the team is the exact same and it's all the coach's fault. Dvorak got a bad game, he's the worst player on the team. Caufield scores 8 goals in 8 games, he's a Rocket candidate and is going to score 50 (to take some positive stories), etc. Fans takes a long time to adjust. Most of them haven't caught up that the team is playing much better than before. The narrative around Dach is going to be very negative for a while unless he strings a couple good apparent games (with multiple points).
Hockey is a physical sport and attrition the Habs with half a dozen players under six feet are delusional to think they can be competitive let alone challenge for a Cup.
No stupid players over 30 trades.....we take our lumps now..... hopefully we land the number one or two pick....take Martone trade back into the top ten....and take either Roger McQueen or Caleb Desnoyers.

Lane to laine passes gonna be SICK
I’m hoping the second half season is way better then last year picking up points maybe then in the mix bottom of teams so close on points

Everyone learning how to play with Hutson once they lean gonna be nasty pp1
Dach cost us those points last night in New York...very disappointing end to that great game

There are little signs of positives with this team this season.
Habs 0.500 in the last ten games…!
