He aged so beautifully and he has so much class and integrity. I grew up on his songs and have most of his records. His voice can bring me back to another era.
How many of you remember "You Light Up My Life," Debby Boone's big hit in 1977? It was copied by many other singers, but the best version I ever heard, by far, was Perry Como's performance on live TV; it got a TREMENDOUS ovation from the studio audience. Thank you, Perry.
I fell in love with Perry’s voice way back 1951. When we had his record Don’t Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes, and have loved him ever since, there has been a lot of great singers, but none kept their voices as good as Perry at his age, he was a wonderful man with a great voice and a wonderful nature. May he rest in Peace.
40 years before he sang this song, I saw him, live in New York City . It was his 40th birthday, 1952. My dear mother brought my older sister, some of her school friends and me, to a live TV broadcast of the Perry Como show. He, personally cut, and handed each and every person, a piece of his birthday cake. My older sister, kept that piece of Perry Como's birthday cake in my mother's and later, her freezer for probably 20 years.
How lucky you were to see Perry live in his studio. Do you remember "You Light Up My Life," Debby Boone's big hit in 1977, copied by many other singers? The best version I ever heard was Perry Como's performance on live TV; it got a TREMENDOUS ovation from the audience.
We'll Meet Again was on the Where Youre Concerned album, even Perrys secretary Vera had a hard time getting one for us.....but she did! Thanks for everything Vera!
Its a shame it rained, he really didnt relish his hair getting wet and blown, but nothing stopped him from giving 100% of himself for the country. Even as he was older here he could still hit the notes. He was quite a talent, but yet very humble and regular, we miss you Per. Love ya, Jeff and Linda
80 years old singing a very good song with his Gifted voices..and this is a such blessed for his listeners..i wished his still singing in heaven ❤❤❤ Mr. C
Perry's 1993 Japanese concert was particularly important as it provided "the man upstairs" comment as well as possibly the best recording of Where or When we are likely to ever hear. Keep up your good work!
I don't understand why the Corporation for Public Broadcasting doesn't have all the memorial and July 4th concerts on RUclips and personally hope that the funding will be cut from those people
There's a time when singers should call it a day and retire. Much as I like Perry Como, he was well past the day here. He's really struggling, but his fans wont notice, they're bound to be tone deaf.
@Runner Girl If he's past it, he's past it! Best to let people remember him at his best, not his worst. Same applied to Johnny Cash, his last performances were awful. A pain to listen to.
@Runner Girl I'm a realist, not a sentimentalist. If the man has lost his singing voice, then he should give it up. As I said in my first comment, ''...his fans wont notice, they're bound to be tone deaf.'' You're the proof. I'd rather remember him at his best, not his worst, it's that simple. As for Sinatra, in his early years, he had a singing voice. Later, when he made his 'comeback' (reportedly with the help of the Mafia) he didnt. His voice was flat and tuneless. In other words, horrible. He got by with style, 'razzmatazz' and lots of publicity promotion. Again, his fans must be tone deaf. Matt Monro had a far better voice, even though he worshipped Sinatra. If there was a choice, I'd swop Matt for Sinatra any day, and I pity the day that Matt died so young. .
Perry is 80 here. Never lost that voice. God bless him.
I love how he chuckled as he said "watching the clouds roll by" as it was a rainy kind of windy night...
He’s almost 80 here. Never lost that beautiful voice.

@Runner Girl
Sinatra may have had talent, but he had a lousy voice.
There's a difference.
I didnt criticise his talent, just his lousy voice.
@Runner Girl
Thats only an American opinion.
There's the rest of the world, and hundreds of better singers out there.
Love to hear Perry sing We'll Meet Again.
