Definitely a game you want to experience for yourself, especially if you plan to do a Dark Urge run. There were moments that left me legitimately emotionally exhausted in the best way.
Paladin multiclassed with bard is overpowered as hell. You get spells, and best of all, level 5 spell slots, which you don't get with paladin. That means you can smite with lvl 5. Combine that with hold person and it gets ridiculous. Also, you can decide to smite after attacking. You will know when you crit, so you can decide to do massive damage. Fight against Orin she didn't even get a turn.
@@StratEdgyProductions Its a Hexblade Warlock + Paladin multiclass. Basically for only 1 level in warlock, you solve all your problems with paladin being reliant on multiple ability scores, as you just need CHA for everything now. You also get an ability that lets you crit on 19 on a single target. Combine it with elven accuracy and aura of hate and it's pretty busted, along with the fun stuff warlock gives you, like hex and eldritch blast and more spell slots for your smites. You delete bosses but still not as OP as twilight clerics or moon druids tho

There's a third way into the Underdark, just get feather fall on the party and jump in the pit the matriarch spider got yeeted into. Also that one Myconid that can bring back corpses can bring back the mini beholder. Much fun. Can also just shoot levers with arrows.
Forget gloomstalker. Colossal Hunter makes it to where you do an extra 1d8 damage if I remember correct EVERYTIME you hit something that DOESNT have full HP, which is ALL THE TIME.
There is a simpler way getting through the arcane tower, instead of entering the tower, jump to the mushroom platforms to the left of the tower entrance, and you can jump straight down to the lowest level, taking 1/2 your hp with it, unless you cast Featherfall, but still bypassing going into the tower through the window. Turning on the tower turns off the turrets, you can kill them with impunity for a bit of XP, and you can take your entire party upstairs, you might want to take the Club of Giant's Strength and if you fight Bernard the robot you get a halberd with lightning damage (Light of Creation).
Dark urge playthrough with my friend was fun because it was our first run through the game, and occasionally I’d just wander off and kill someone only for him to find their bodies later and assume it was part of the story
Use the sussur flowers in the tower in the underdark, the flowers create an anti magic field that takes out the turrets. There are 4 or 5 flowers in the underdark. Just keep in mind not to travel to the surface with these flowers or they'll loose their powers.

Alchemy indeed is powerful in this game. I have something for you there. Go talk to Withers and recruit a hireling. Brinna Brightsong or whatever her name is to be precise. The halfling. Then respec her into a transmutation wizard, with high wisdom and give her proficiency in medicine. Then give her a level of rogue to get expertise in Medicine. And then give her a couple levels of cleric so she gets enhance ability. This hireling will double the value of all of your ingredients by doubling the results of alchemy and she will almost never fail. With a +4 from wisdom which she reaches at 18 points, and expertise she will automatically pass the medicine check and to fail she would have to roll 4 natural 1 on two dice rolls with advantage. Which is not impossible but exceedingly improbable. Sadly this only starts to take effect at level 5 or 6 at the earliest if I remember correctly.
The ethel fight can be made even easier if you just use magic missile to hit every single target. All the illusions pop when they take ANY amount damage, Magic Missile is guaranteed damage that cannot be avoided. No need to waste your party's turns splitting up and attacking individual targets.
Hey Strat! It's a common mistake that people make when they say "you get an opportunity attack when someone moves within your reach". The rule actually reads: "When someone moves OUT of your reach". Therefore if you have a reach of 10ft and I close the distance to make a melee attack, I am in your reach the whole time and will not take an attack of opportunity. The "opportunity" part of the attack is that a foe is in reach of your weapon but not engaging you in combat (ie, they are showing you their flank and not their shield or weapon readied to parry your blows). It's mostly used to punish a player or monster rushing past a foe to get to a squishier foe, or to rout a foe trying to flee from you.
This is the description from the handbook. "While you are wielding a glaive, halberd, pike, quarterstaff, or spear, other creatures provoke an opportunity attack from you when they enter the reach you have with that weapon." Polearms have 10 feet of reach so therefore... Or are you not talking about Polearm master? Did I say this somewhere else that wasn't referring to Polearm Master? I might have mistakenly done that.

@@StratEdgyProductions shhhhhhhh my I have my monsters run Bless and Spirit Guardians at the same time against my players. Still waiting for them to catch on.
I gotta get back into this soon. Did a duo with a friend (I controlled Shadowheart, he controlled Astarion, and we were both sexy, studly dragonborn (yiff yiff, bitches)) and also attempted a 6 player run that petered out because the party limit begone mod just refused to cooperate. I've got a barely touched solo run with Laezel as my PC and my god do you lose out on a lot of personality playing AS one of the base characters. The duo, I went full barbarian, grabbed tavern brawler, and just threw things to death. I'd throw axes, javelins, barrels, mother fuckers, you name it I'd throw it. Was even better with heavier things thrown off of sufficient height because you'd get gravity/fall damage, tavern brawler damage, weapon damage, and all the rage bonuses and throwing damage bonuses from gear. It was stupid and hilarious and while not exactly OP as one rounding 100+ health we were still stupid strong enough to one round the final phase of the act 2 boss. You also can't go wrong with near guaranteed proning 1 or more enemies if they were light enough to grab and enraged throw plus the special improvised weapon attack lmao was glorious. I just wish there were grappling gloves that let you throw/improv weapon more enemies, it was frustratingly restrictive grappling mobs because of how the game handled size/weight. Would have loved that, even if all it did with no other bonuses was count your strength as double or something for grappling purposes (so that'd mean better shoves, too)
1:46:20 Who takes Pact of the Blade? You take 3 levels of warlock to take that sweet, sweet Pact of the Chain. That little imp is the true MVP of my party.
another long form Strat vid covering, this time, a game I intend on playing. I figure since I still need to finish BG1 and restart BG2 that I'll forget this vid in the 800 hours I'll need to finish those two.
an even easier way to get kevlor's gloves is by letting the merc knock him out or doing it yourself after the fight outside the gate, and stealing them off his unconscious body. would recommend turn based mode. it's either after a certain amount of time or when you've walked far enough away from him that he regains consciousness.
1:26:28 the way I figured out which one was the witch was by looking at the models. The woman is pregnant, and her belly sticks out, when looking at one who isn't the pregnant women the belly does not stick out
Why haven't I thought of dual wielding staves !!! OMG that's so neat. I build my Astarion as Thief rogue 4 Open hand monk 6 Fighter 2. He stomps most stuff that don't have high DR, but I didn't tried Tactician yet with that... Funny that I give in to the Gay and ended up as corpse the next morning with Astarion walking away as if nothing happened :)
It very well might have been a mod changing this, but during one of my durge playthroughs I was able to get the jump on Auntie. You can't surprise her, but if you're initiative is high enough, you can wallop her before she has a chance to bitch out and run.
The part in the goblin camp with the little owlbear reminds me of our multiplayer session... I really didn't mean to send the little bugger of to die! I really didn't! Didn't break my oath as a paladin though. Great video btw!

I think the last patch broke my game. All my 1d8 roll 1 without exception.
All good build advice, Paladin is indeed a powerhouse. Doesn't quite match up to the Tavern Brawler abusers Monk and Thrower (Zealot or Eldritch Knight) but it can get damn close with the right build/equipment. Buying/crafting enough Cloud Giant potions to have one everyday in Act 3 for your main melee character takes any of these builds to a crazy new level of damage.
1:26:07 Magic missile One to each clone I also had Astarion throw a grease bottle at the spot I was sure the invisible hag was at, and knocked her prone This fight didn't last very long for me. Laezel and Karlach turned her into hamburger meat on the floor
I know this is a "1st impressions vid" but Larian went above and beyond when it comes to player choice and options. I hope you do several different playthroughs to explore what BG3 has to offer. (If only for yourself) you're missing out on so much if you don't.

That shit with the spider matriach was diabolical. Helped me get that sweet sweet experience.
another long form Strat vid covering, this time, a game I intend on playing.
Can't be *too* gay. Gotta be just the right amount.
Is Ethel Donkey's original owner from Shrek?
Edit: No, that woman died right after that masterpiece of a movie
11:59 Oh no 😂 I'm never going to unhear the Gith as Jim Henson puppets... Has somebody made a Gith Rigel character yet?
It very well might have been a mod changing this, but during one of my durge playthroughs I was able to get the jump on Auntie. You can't surprise her, but if you're initiative is high enough, you can wallop her before she has a chance to bitch out and run.
Love it! Although I'm a little sad that Paulie Walnuts wasn't our main character...
Yeah, but his Commendatori spell is so overpowered, it makes the whole game so boring to play.
Why does the cutest critter in the game also have to be a cannibal.
I ain’t subscribing, I’ve been asking my mom for a younger brother.
Hell yeah, I love Durge!
I have the same Pittsburgh accent as you do. I'm listening to your video while redding up

Magic missile
One to each clone
I also had Astarion throw a grease bottle at the spot I was sure the invisible hag was at, and knocked her prone
This fight didn't last very long for me. Laezel and Karlach turned her into hamburger meat on the floor
This is A trilogy?! LETSGO!
Yes, already have the footage. Just need to write and edit. Need to take a break in between though. Too many massive videos lately burning me out.
1:34:24. "I don't wanna see'm kissing goblins. Ingratiating goblins. In bed with a goblin..."
"first game in history where its more fun to be bi" Dude did you forget about fallout new vegas?!
I know this is a "1st impressions vid" but Larian went above and beyond when it comes to player choice and options. I hope you do several different playthroughs to explore what BG3 has to offer. (If only for yourself) you're missing out on so much if you don't.
