Just bought one of these for $800 and a 6 pack of beer, A LOT of exterior problems lol but runs like a charm. Crawls and climbs over hills and rocks as well

I'm watching the video and I'm realizing this is one of those underrated videos. First of, No Music (!). Afterall, who watches an offroading vid and says: baahh! no music! I'm outta here! (lol). 2ndly someone's actually figured out the Sportage's short overhangs could make it a potentially afforadable great offroader. Then i check the channel out and you've got an 80-Series and a Japanese Kei truck. Didn't have to scroll further to figure this isn't just an underrated video but could be an underrrated channel as well!

Fantastic! Ive just been watching your videos when you put the lift kit in. Have you added wheel spacers since then? It looks like your wheels poke out more now.
Did the 235/75R15 tyres scrub much before you lifted it? (also still just the 2" spacers in it?)
I just brought one of these last night, An old beat up 97 Manual, looks terrible but was cheap and cant wait to get it off road!
Would be a nice budget overlander.

Air i have kia Sportage but it turns less in 4×4 than 2 wheel drive. Is it a problem or something common in all sportage jeeps?
Was a decent little rig but my rear rotted out of it so now it sits out back

What snorkel are you running? Do you have any video of the install?
Unfortunately I did not make an install video, there is a RUclipsr by the name of Tommy Post who is where I got the idea from and he has a short video on it. It is for a Jeep XJ and there are many available online, the windshield portion must be heated with a torch or heat gun and moved but nothing too crazy.
Details on the bumper? And where are you guys? Wish we had spots like this in Michigan

Looking good, What air pressure are you running? thought about welding that rear up?
My air pressures were at road pressure during this video, I didn’t have my gauge with me to let them down. I have thought about locking the rear but I street drive it a ton so I don’t want it to be annoying.
I run mine at 30 psi with no traction issues.
I recently got myself a 97 Sportage. Are you going to do a video on how you did the bumper?

Hello! Your sportage is very beautiful. For which vehicle is that snorkel that you installed to your sportage and how did you adapt it?
Thank you. It was originally intended for a Jeep Cherokee xj. The fender profile mounts up easy, the top section must be heated with a torch or heat gun to bend it to match the profile of the windshield.
@@jecustoms52 Thanks for the info. I have searched in several places for snorkeling for sportage and there are only two countries that manufacture it. . . Brazil and Taiwan and cost twice what a snorkel costs for Toyota or Jeep... Greeting from the Dominican Republic.
Just bought one of these rigs to be a cheap run around vehicle. I had no idea what I got. Been watching a lot of videos and really impressed with these things.
Your video is awesome at showing just how capable they are. Would love to know the "non-visible" mods (lift, tire size, gear change, clutch,...).

Yes original engine with just over 200k miles.

The snorkel is originally for a Jeep xj, it has the be heated up and re worked to match the windshield profile but other than that it fits the fender well. vent visors were one when I got it.
I have the same car is that a stubby front bumper? Been trying to find a off-road bumper that will fit know where I can find them????it would help alot lol

Hi, guy! I also have Sportage. Very nice small offroad monster! Tell me, please, where did you get so cool snorkel? Most often seen snorkels from Toyota Hilux on Sportage, but them look not so good.
This one is modified from a Jeep XJ. The fender mounting portion works just as it comes and the windshield portion needs to be re worked with a heat gun or torch to better match the windshield angle.

Bro, I want to change the bumer to my sportage, do you think a jeep wrangler off road bumper can be adapted to it?
A Jeep Cherokee bumper is very close to the right width, the mounts will be wrong but if you can re-work those I think the is the route I will go next time

And spacers for a Suzuki samurai, these are 2” from trail gear.

Made it out of an old Dodge Ram bumper.

I used an off the shelf winch plate and trimmed it to fit inside the frame rails then welded it in, I cut down and modified an old steel bumper to mount onto the winch plate.

@@jecustoms52 that’s awesome, I use to run Federal Couriga but I went to Maxxis Razor AT as I mainly do road driving but mrs got company car so might get Federal as my next set at Christmas time

I have had to do a few dead pulls and it has worked well, my only complaint is the free spin actuator is plastic and is easy to break if you torque on it
@@jecustoms52 what thickness and size rectangular tubing did you use to cross the frame in the front to mount it on? Once I lift mine I plan on following what you did in the old videos with the winch and the trimmed factory bumper since I really liked how it looked. I'm not too good with a welder but I have plenty of time to practice before I actually attempt it
The old set up was with a notched 2/4/.25 rectangular tubing

I imaging this is more stressful than most people will take their Sportage. It is just an example to show people that they can have a good time with these little fairly capable rigs.
