I've said it before and I'll say it again. It looks really silly when it's okay for the 4 on-field umpires to take time to discuss a situation amongst themselves, but they are not allowed to ask an additional umpire with the video in New York to provide the missing information.
Just like I’ve said its silly for them to get together to overturn a reviewable call when they can let the team ask for a review if its wrong. Especially when it comes back as call stands meaning the person reviewing it doesn’t have anything conclusive but we are suppose to believe an umpire further away can see something more conclusive from where they are standing.

Getting together wasnt going to yield anything since none of them had a foul ball. Its like they just appeased the Manager and got together knowing they werent going to change anything
What’s amazing is 4 professional umpires couldn’t realize when a straight pitch changes angle sharply by 90 degrees and can’t realize that it hit something.
Ol Snit doesn’t get fired up like this very often. I think he wanted the ejection so the league would pay more attention and maybe change this non reviewable foul rule

Thank you Linds. I knew this video was coming and I’m especially glad that you explained why the play wasn’t reviewable. I agree that it should be since technology allows for it to be slowed enough to avoid a potentially game ending error. On a side note, I love your auto reply on messenger 😂
This is so bad. Ignoring snitker even though he has the benefit of replay and all 4 umpires aren't sure about the call either way. How they didn't hear the double contact is beyond reason
This directly cost the team a run. Thankfully, it didn't cost them the game. As a Braves fan, I understand Snit getting ejected. I have no problem with the ejection after warning. However, I have never understood why fair/foul isn't reviewable. If there isn't clear and convincing evidence because the camera missed it, then so be it - call stands. That's the same as every other call routinely reviewed.
Fair foul in front of the umpires (home to first/third) shouldn’t be reviewable unless we get better camera angles. This is more of a “whether it hit the bat” which should be reviewable and not classified as a fair/foul review.
There are several things that I think the MLB should make reviewable. But, for whatever reason, MLB doesn't want to do it. Maybe the league likes the drama that situations like this create.
Starting after the obviously bad call, I don't blame anyone for how this played out. They can't change the call they cant see, they cant check bc of a stupid rule, as a result snit is pretty much obligated to make a scene, which means Bellino is literally obligated to throw him out. Everything after snit stepped on the field (the 1st time) was theatre for the guys reviewing the rule tgis off-season
Bruh the rules for the umpires is all 4 umpires can discuss the play and the crew chief or home plate umpire are the only two or no umpire who Makes the final decision the other two umpires can discuss and make a decision but its up to the crew chief and or home plate umpire to make the choice of the play
Honestly, I heard it hit what sounded like the bat, but I sure didn't see it. The check swing took his bat to a weird angle that doesn't make sense without slow motion, because it's UNDER the batter's hands. That's just not a place you'd expect a bat to be.
Out of curiosity, if the batter admitted on the spot that he fouled the ball, would the ump be able to overturn the call on the field? I’m well aware the batter wouldn’t do that but curious if there’s anything in the rules that allow for that.
How in the world not one of the umps could see that was foul is beyond me. I was in right field and it was obvious. No reason that shouldn't be reviewable.
If you're the plate umpire, you have to listen for this call since the catcher is blocking the area that the umpire needs to see. The base umpires all had runners they had to watch as well. As for the play not being reviewable, it must be a Manfred thing.
So what does the league have to say about. The call now what if this had happened in game 7 of the World Series and that was the winning run I’m sorry but I would of acted like a foul
I can’t blame Brian Snitker here. But, as the old saying goes, “You can’t argue with the umpires here about missing potential bad calls.” So, after Snit get ejected (3:26); as the Cubs’ Broadcast says here (3:29): “He just got thrown out”; and at 3:33: “Now, he’s gonna get his money’s worth.”; with Mario coin ding (3:34). 😂🤣😂🤣 But, seriously fair, foul balls calls need to be reviewed, no questions asked. Also, LOL at Lindsay at 0:16. Damn Savage. 😂🤣😂🤣
Sadly… I disagree… 2 reasons… 1. He ignored multiple warnings that it’s over and go back to the dugout… which is ultimately why he was tossed… 2. By rule (and yes, it’s in the rulebook) judgement calls (which include (also in the rule) balls/strikes.. fair/foul.. catch/no catch.. out/safe) are NOT allowed to be argued… now, in today’s game.. some of these are reviewable… and you can ask for a review (assuming you still have that option)… so yes, I can blame him… I know as an ump.. and it’s probably worse here knowing that the coach before coming out probably has seen it on reply.. or had someone else who did… but you can’t review and you can’t over turn because .. well you called it that way for a reason.. and your partners didn’t see anything diffinitively different either… so you can’t do anything about it but move on. Was Snitker right… yes on the miss.. NO on the rules violations he committed in arguing it…. People forget.. when you can’t use replay.. umpires are NOT wrong.. or right.. just final… which is all that matters.
@@johnthomas1422 I've heard that for years.. except.. balls/strikes.. most umpires today are more accurate than that stupid box on the screen (CCS did a video on that a few years ago).. but other software out there.. is too slow.. Ok for a challenge system.. but to call all pitches.. let just say all that time gained and more with the recent rule changes would be given back.. MLB and the players don't want to go there. The real problem is.. people forget that before we had questec... all umpire calls were final.. replay was just starting to be used. and we had less trouble.. today people think technology solves everything.. it doesn't sadly.. it's actually making it worse infact. When the full time computer systems were calling balls/strikes in the atlantic league.. it was worse than MLB is now.. it's just that stupid fans think that umpires should NEVER make a mistake.. but it's acceptable for their favorite player to fail 7 or 10 times at the plate or make errors in the field.. That often are way worse than the effect of an umpire missed call... People still stress about the little things.. and in doing so, miss the big picture.. Yes.. we can go to full time robot umps. Of course that also means for the best accuracy.. 5 hour games... suddenly when put in that perspective... it doesn't sound that appealing.
@@ronpeacock9939 I've seen the box on my TV jump a lot this year. I wouldn't trust it. I've seen several boxes that were not positioned correctly. I even remember there was an ejection a few years ago where the overlaying box called the pitch a ball and a different box on the right side of the screen called it a strike. This was by the same broadcasters. I'm not opposed to the idea of an electronic strike zone, but it needs to be improved and it must be able to adapt to different batter heights. I'm not confident with the technology in its current state.
This is a case of what my brother liked to call "Last Word Syndrome." He just had to get the last word in there even though Bellino gave him all the time in the world to say his peace.
Does the maker of this video understand its essentially Snitker's duty to get tossed here? I promise you, Snit knew the very first second he left the dugout that he was getting tossed on purpose.
Not really a fair/foul call, since the location of the ball was not in question. As you said, this should be a new category, which is similar to determining if the ball hit the bat or the player under the HBP review rule.
It is incredibly dumb that this isn’t reviewable! This one definitely needs to change next year. Yeah the game has to move on.. if they could do a crew chief review there would not be arguing, Snitker would still be in the game and there would easily be a correct call. There should never be a time that the umpires can’t figure a call out.. that’s just silly given all that technology, especially if no one on the field could confirm the right call. These guys can barely call balls and strikes so they need all the help they can get..lol
But all the time they spent talking about it and then discussing it with the coach and then tossing him and arguing with the coach, a simple 30sec review would have had the game moving on quicker.
I think they should just extend the 'reviewable' to just about everything other than ball/strike. If the review is inconclusive because of angle, oh-well, you lose your review. It becomes part of the coach's responsibility to only challenge things that are conclusive. Over time they'll learn what is/isn't able to be overturned. In this case, I've been there. The sound of 'ball hits glove' and 'ball hits bat' are REALLY close at full-speed, particularly if it hits something else right after. Based on the angle of deflection, it is easy in the moment to 1st instinct judge it hit the glove instead of the bat (particularly since at full-speed, you might not even see the bat being there it checks in/out so fast), but have that uneasy feeling it might have gone the other way. As a field ump, at 90/120 feet away, you lack the perspective to make that call either, it just isn't something you can differentiate, even if you knew what was coming. It is easy to say 'oh, thats obvious' when the video is zoomed in and slowed down, not so easy in real-time not knowing the situation. So an unfortunate miss that I sympathize with, but the replay rules are kind of terrible not just reviewing everything.
Here's a thought: could Snitker have called for a review for a HBP? Under the review of a HBP, the review does check if the ball hit the bat before the player, which can change the call to foul tip.
Wouldn’t give them the authority to overturn a fair vs foul dispute, which is what this play falls under. Plus idk if the umps would let him since the original argument has nothing to do with a HBP vs hit the bat. I see what you’re getting at but idk if that would be granted
@@seanmaher3401probably not since in the case of the runner clearly being pushed off by the fielder earlier in the season they couldn’t or wouldn’t make the judgement in New York that he was pushed off and called him out after the on field call was safe.
I think they all heard what they suspect is the sound of the ball hitting the bat, but they probably didn't see it conclusively. So they know it was foul but they can't be sure. It's really the home plate umps call and I'm surprised he missed it.
Given where it was, I could see him not seeing it directly, and the bounce could equally be off the glove, then it bounced off the ump so anybody's guess where it will go.
@@michaelfalkner1186 so what? You yourself could not be sure without replay to see what happened. Best trained umpires and they got it wrong....so what? They have replay, shouldve been able to use it, but MLB blew it ........
So much with the replay rules are reactions to situations that happened during games. Hopefully this regular season game gets them to change this rule and it’s not one of those plays that needs to occur in October in order to get things going.
@@CloseCallSports Lindsay, Im totally shocked that MLB would not allow this play to be on the reviewable list. Its so easy to go from "fair" to "foul".......I get it not allowing a review on a "foul call" that would be changed to "fair", but not this situation. Can this "rule" be changed for the playoffs or does it have to be done in the off season?
@@mptr1783 The secret is that regardless of the rules, the league can kind of do whatever it wants. If it wants to change the Replay Review regulations prior to the postseason, it's not like there's anyone stopping it.
First off Snit had a right to be thrown out...Having said that the competition committee needs to use this video footage as a solid example to change this rule. It should be reviewable because there's a major difference between a "foul ball" & "Pass Ball" Foul Ball is a "Dead Ball" Situation which means no one advances to the next base. The Call was Pass Ball even though the catcher never caught the ball to start with. I could easily blame the Umps but I won't only because of the principle of the rules as it is right now. The MLB competition committee better be taking notes on this play for future reference.
theres no reason this play should not be reviewable.............even if every runner came around and scored, changing it to a foul ball after review is a simple fix.........dead ball, everybody returns.........no harm, no foul. This absolutely will changed next year by MLB, book it
As umps are walking away they should ignore what else he's saying, unless its REALLY bad. Let it go and play on. They did a good job of giving him plenty of room to have his say, then toss him as they walk. without the audio and knowing Snits final shot, it looks bad on umps to toss at that point.
The concept that an ump cannot make a call to replay is factually incorrect. They can and do on plays that cannot be replayed every day. This ump crew should ALL be fired. They knew they were wrong, then hid behind what they view as a technicality, when the fact is the umpire could have easily doublechecked his own suspicions with replay. UMPS CAN ALWAYS DO THAT. This ump was wrong, cost a team a run, then lied about not being able to check the play. They could have checked ANY part of the play, saying the foul tip was not able to be checked is bs.
@@johnthomas1422 if you had watched the video you'd know that the umpires literally cannot check replay. They will be reprimanded by MLB for trying. Blame MLB

He should have massaged Bellino's hand and stared into his eyes. It's hard to believe all of those officials missed the sound of a bat hitting the ball, though. It's pretty distinct.
Bat and catchers leg guards are pretty indistinguishable at times. No base umpire is going to make that call from over 100 ft away while PU is less than 10....

I always thought these sorts of things weren't reviewable because overturning foul to fair would make placing the runners a nightmare a lot of the time.
@@mptr1783Can only be reviewed if called fair might work but I'd be worried about incentivizing one call over another because replay has a bias towards call stands.
The thing is this wasn’t between fair or foul. This was between foul tip and wild pitch which would mean very easy to reverse if umpire got it wrong since it is now a foul ball and the runners couldn’t advance. Therefore this should be an easy change to the rules to get the call right.
Acuna and Albies got these guy’s tails out of the jackpot. Nobody will remember this, I bet MLB won’t even address it, and the 4 of them will get a stern email telling them that they did a bad.
When is the league going to address "ejected for being right"? Almost $2M dollars in compensation on every 4 man ump crew and they can't figure this out?
When are you going to learn to use Google? Your math is way off, less than $1 million for the 4 man crew on average, and that's for 162 games, not 1. The average MLB umpire is making $235K for the 2023 season.....
there are plenty of "ejected for being right" situations. They told him multiple times "we can't review it".......and nobody on saw it hit the bat. How long should Snitker be allowed to say delay the game?
Try again. Average is closer to $300-400K salary plus benefits. So yeah, close to $2M checks out. One of the four should have seen and heard the foul, like literally everyone on TV did.
There are "ejected for being right" ejections. There are only "ejected for acting like a 2 year old" ejections (like Bryce Harper). Disagree without showing your ass to the world, and you'll get to stay in the game.
You’re absolutely right about him. He got warning for 7 times and he ejected him. Umpire ask him to stop arguing with him. He was not listening to him. Stop arguing him! You have listen to the umpires and you had respect that. Just accept it!
MLB HAS MANY ISSUES WITH RULES THAT MAKES NO SENSE WHEN THERES AND OUT OR THE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING ANYTHING AFFECTING THE OUTCOME OF AN OUT THAT CANNOT BE REVIEWABLE FROM AN OFFICAL THAT HAS THE POWER TO CHANGE THAT OUTCOME. When this occurs maybe deem the situation a dead ball because situations like this puts all the power in one persons hands to change the outcome of the play and game especially if nobody else can look at correcting that umpires call on the field..MLB HAS BECOME AN AUTHORITARIAN ORGANIZATION MAKING LOOK CORRUPT IN SITUATIONS LIKE THIS!
With the double hit sound I'd say catchers interference at best foul ball at worst. I mean they should have had at least a foul ball & not a passed ball.
Snit doesn't get ejected much. I was watching live, clear missed call and the umps knew it but the rules are the rules with replay. I do appreciate it for the players though, they saw their coach get tossed for them, especially the pitches Vines who the Braves may need in the playoffs. Umpires try to be perfect, it's a human error, part of the game some times and all I could do was shake my head. As long as it wasn't an infield fly rule missed call.
This lady always is out of context about what is going on. He knew he would get ejected but he still needs to show face and go above and beyond how dumb it is. He knows they can’t change it but that is the point. It’s their job and at that it’s one of the easier parts of their job. But umps have a strong union and it leads to bad umpiring
This kind of play is really difficult to officiate. This is a play you have to listen for since the catcher is directly in front the ball, which creates a visible obstruction for the home plate umpire. All the base umpires have to take care of their portion of the play before they can come to the aid of their colleagues.
I agree this needs to be reviewable. However, I think it’s ridiculous that 4 “professional” umpires could not get the call right. I understand Snit and his frustration. Cubs get a run on a foul ball. That should NEVER happen. Saying “things happen fast” or this was “on a check swing” so it’s hard to see is a lame excuse. They are trained to be the best and they were far from it on this call. The umpire should be DFA.
So with your logic, why did the coaches need to review it before coming out to complain lol? Holy crap, humans are going to miss some things, and obviously this call was missed also........shocking, but true
This is not an easy play to officiate. The HP umpire's view is obstructed by the catcher, and the base umpires had to rule on their portion of the play before they can help the colleagues. I also agree that this should be reviewable.
@@mptr1783 yes, the Braves wanted to view it because they knew it was a foul ball. When it was known it is a non-reviewable play, Snit came out at first wanting the umpires to discus, in which they did. I would think the 3rd base ump could see the trajectory of the pitch changed drastically prior to getting to the catcher. Also, when players/coaches mess up, I don’t make excuses for them. It is what it is as they say. Yea, I’m a little harsh for saying demote them or whatever. I hope MLB review this and changes the rule. I also hope umpires review film and look at areas they need to improve on.

MLB is the biggest culprit here...no reason not to have this play reviewable. 30 second review, clear foul ball, send the runners back, play on
Another excellent breakdown Lindsay, thank you. I didn't realize Snit had been warned that many times, so it makes sense that he got tossed, albeit a little sheepishly. I'm glad we're in agreement that these types of calls should be reviewable, let's hope the league fixes it ASAP.
How many warnings about not getting calls wrong that cost teams runs before the ump gets tossed? The umpires are so bad they legitimately cost a team a run in the last week of baseball sheerly due to incompetence and when they get called out for it, they toss the manager who was clearly correct, it was a foul ball. I'm with you, bro, umps have feelings. Who cares about the teams and competition when umpires feelings could potentially be hurt when they get called out for missed calls. Umpires feelings are really the only reason any of us watch the game, when you think about it.
some of these umps are so bad. How do they all miss that when it was obvious to everyone watching and even everyone at the stadium that it was a fouled off. Unreal.
I am not sure how all 4 of them missed it. It is a weird foul off though, so far back in the stance but a ball does not rocket down like that from a glove. Weird how its not reviewable but hit by pitch is
Well, the home plate umpire didn't hear it as a foul. Stadiums are loud sometimes, and seeing that is a bit hard, considering there is a catcher with his glove in the way. The first base umpire doesn't have x-ray vision, so can't see through the batter, and is 120ft away from the sound which will be much quieter for him. Second base is closer then that.... but is looking dead ahead at the play. It will look the same hitting the bottom of the glove or the bottom of the bat. Third is really our only hope here. And that pitch is way inside and fouled near the catcher. Possible to see, but it's going to be hard.
One of the most egregiously awful calls I have ever seen. And it cost the Braves a Cubs run which very nearly became a huge deal if not for their comeback. For starters this HAS TO be reviewable by rule and it needs to change for next season. And then, if none of the umpires saw it hit the bat, which I find very hard to believe, then the actual sound could be heard all the way in Warner Robbins. It was LOUD! So many chances to get this right and the entire crew whiffed on all of them. MLB and this entire crew owe the Braves an apology because this was outright incompetence.
The base umpires had runners they were responsible for. They have to rule on that first. Plus, the umpires view of this play is restricted due to being behind the catcher. So he therefore has to listed for certain sounds to officiate this play. It's not so easy.
Linds touched on this and I just want to emphasize...There are only 76 full-time MLB umpires. It is harder to make it as an umpire than a player but, not as hard as an organist or PA person! This type of call...a foul ball back in the hitting area, a glancing hit by pitch or a soft catcher's interference, a catch/no catch on a low, possible skipped in uncaught third strike is THE HARDEST call for an umpire at ANY level of baseball to make and for that reason, this should absolutely be reviewable. My question would be...What if plate calls a similar play a foul ball which is not a foul ball and the runners stop running? How do you place the runners when after looking at replay this hypothetical was NOT a foul ball and was in fact a passed ball by the catcher and therefore live? As for Snitker...yes, you got screwed on this. Yes, it should be reviewable. It's currently not. I'm not saying he can't come out of the dugout. I'm not saying he can't yell at the umpires about it. MLB umpires are trained to give coaches and players a bit more flexibility with regards to arguing certain calls. But, as Linds said...at some point, we have to resume the game. I would love to ask guys like Snitker, "You were warned 4 times to stop or you would be ejected. It's not like you took one step out of the dugout and they ejected you. They gave you some rope and then you hung yourself with it. How much grief should an umpire have to take on a call we know they got wrong? How many warnings should you have to be given before being ejected?" He can complain all he wants...yes, they got it wrong. At some point, we have to resume the game.
Embarrassing for the umps and embarrassing for MLB. We literally have the technology to fix all of these calls. We honestly don't even need these clowns out there. But they got the ejection they so love.
@@CloseCallSports The same manual that says "MLB Umpires should remain calm, confident, and non-confrontational in order to maintain an appearance of fairness and impartiality." Yet some umps never seem to face consequences for their behavior on the field.
Umpires have been suspended for poor conduct in the past. A lazy Google search reveals that Mike Winters was suspended in 2007 for 3 games for poor conduct. So it clearly does happen sometimes.
This video is complete BS. Bad umpires are bad for the game. You are defending incompetence. You claim it was hard to see, but the entire stadium saw it just fine without a replay, because they were actually watching the game.
All that the ump had to do to get this replayed was tell replay he though he heard it hit, but didn't see it hit. He had EVERY right to confirm a foul ball. The coach can't challenge the call, fine, but the ump can sure as hell call back to NJ whenever he has doubts about a call he made, they do it all the time. Here, the ump says he didn't make the foul call, so he has no reason to check with NJ. PULL THE COTTON OUT OF YOUR EARS, WE CAN ALL SEE IT MADE ENOUGH CONTACT TO MAKE A SOUND.
So, just to be clear, no matter how garbage, wrong, or stupid an ump is, to the point of the ump costing teams runs and games solely because the ump sucks, the umpire can never be ejected for their performance AND they will never be fired or disciplined no matter how bad they are. Good job, based ball, I LOVE UMPS.
This is not an easy play to officiate. The HP umpire has to listed for a certain sound, since the umpire's view is obstructed by the catcher. All of the base umpires have to fulfill their responsibilities on this play before they can help the HP umpire.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. It looks really silly when it's okay for the 4 on-field umpires to take time to discuss a situation amongst themselves, but they are not allowed to ask an additional umpire with the video in New York to provide the missing information.

I get that infield fair/foul is potentially a difficult play to review but it seems contact/no contact should be reasonably straight forward (or at least as straight forward as HBP review).

Thank you Linds. I knew this video was coming and I’m especially glad that you explained why the play wasn’t reviewable. I agree that it should be since technology allows for it to be slowed enough to avoid a potentially game ending error. On a side note, I love your auto reply on messenger 😂
This should be reviewable next year.. AS a MLB cameraman these lenses more than have the angle and can get tighter than what you see in this replay
I get that not everything is reviewable. I get that the HP ump might have missed the contact. How did he think the ball cannoned off his leg at 0:48?
Glanced off the bat, bounced off the glove, both could work.
off catcher's glove
Really, not one umpire saw the ball hit the bat? Not reviewable? Come on!
“After a while” it is still a missed call and wrong from any perspective.
I can’t blame the Braves manager. Umpires are to blame here.
The rules are to blame, too. This should have been reviewable.
This is so bad. Ignoring snitker even though he has the benefit of replay and all 4 umpires aren't sure about the call either way. How they didn't hear the double contact is beyond reason
This is the type of play they need replays for.
Cricket uses sound wave maps to tell when a ball glances off the bat. Baseball could add that tech.
Bruh the rules for the umpires is all 4 umpires can discuss the play and the crew chief or home plate umpire are the only two or no umpire who
Makes the final decision the other two umpires can discuss and make a decision but its up to the crew chief and or home plate umpire to make the choice of the play
It would have been quicker to let him take his parting shot and go back to the dugout. Ejecting him only set him off on a tirade.
But, as the old saying goes, “You can’t argue with the umpires here about missing potential bad calls.”
So, after Snit get ejected (3:26); as the Cubs’ Broadcast says here (3:29): “He just got thrown out”; and at 3:33: “Now, he’s gonna get his money’s worth.”; with Mario coin ding (3:34). 😂🤣😂🤣
But, seriously fair, foul balls calls need to be reviewed, no questions asked.
Umps need to be arguing why they shouldn't be replaced by robots that are more reliable, and they don't get their feelings hurt either. FIRE THE UMPS!

"Welp, sometimes you gotta just chew right thru it."
Proud of snit here , lately he hasn't been saying much at all to some really horrible calls by umpires. I want this Snit back
It is incredibly dumb that this isn’t reviewable!
But all the time they spent talking about it and then discussing it with the coach and then tossing him and arguing with the coach, a simple 30sec review would have had the game moving on quicker.
yep, thats on MLB, not the umps.............of course they would want to look at that again
I think MLB likes these conflicts. I can't think of another reason why this would not be reviewable.
Question: If they asked for a review for catchers interference, when they go back and see it's a foul ball can they make the correct call then?
Just a check swing/foul tip rule excluding anything else should be added. Probably won't be needed that often, but good to have.
Bellino should've massaged Snitker's hand and stared him in the eyes until he left the field
Had this in an A's game, I think you did a video on it. A's challenged HBP/no HBP and nonsense came back from New York

First off Snit had a right to be thrown out...Having said that the competition committee needs to use this video footage as a solid example to change this rule.

When are you going to learn to use Google? Your math is way off, less than $1 million for the 4 man crew on average, and that's for 162 games, not 1. The average MLB umpire is making $235K for the 2023 season.....

El baseball es el Rey de los Deportes.
I mean they should have had at least a foul ball & not a passed ball.
so maybe the umpire thought it hit the catchers glove and then it hit the umpires shinguard....
Common Sense isn't common anymore. Hopefully MLB fines or removes this crew from postseason assignments. This was clear and obvious.
Good ejection!
I’m sorry but I simply cannot take anything Bellenino does or says seriously after his creepy stare rubdown of a pitchers hand last year.
It was a bad call and it was bad even ejecting snit like that. These umpires have got so soft
He was substantially delaying the game and was warned several times to stop arguing. Refusal to stop arguing is grounds for an ejection.
It’s a shame when the calls get mixed up and a high fastball comes when the catcher was “expecting a curveball”.
that's not what a glove or shinpad sounds like... is there any identifiable logic as to why this wouldn't be reviewable? a bad joke...
Maybe because MLB likes the drama that stuff like this creates.
Have you ever umpired?
The base umpires had runners they were responsible for. They have to rule on that first. Plus, the umpires view of this play is restricted due to being behind the catcher. So he therefore has to listed for certain sounds to officiate this play. It's not so easy.

I think we all know the answer to your question...
It’s really hard to make another Angel, Diaz, C.B., Hunter W, Kulpa. 😂
Embarrassing for the umps and embarrassing for MLB. We literally have the technology to fix all of these calls. We honestly don't even need these clowns out there. But they got the ejection they so love.
It's the only reason I can think of why this play is not reviewable.
Wow you dropped the worse “abuse” that’s terrible. I assure you when a coach argues in the bigs it can fire a team up.. it’s not just useless.
Literally reading the official manual that says "never tolerate personal abuse"...
@@sherman4114 I also remember Bob Davidson got suspended for an argument he had with Charlie Manuel back in 2012.
They can't review it. They can go to the headset for a rules check, but that's it. I think it should be reviewable, but as it stands now, it's not.
