Just starting to learn Archicad. I've trained in Revit but most of my work is now in the residential arena. Your tutorials are awesome. Thank you so so much! :)
Hi David great tutorial, I learned a few new things fro it. I don't know if you are aware of this however, you do not need to split roofs into single plane and delete hips to remove the hip ends of the gable. You can just pull at the apex and drag it with (apex point drag icon selected) so the hip becomes a gable end without having to split or delete and part of the roof. This way the roof remains as one and is easier to edit in future.
I’m just getting back into architecture, I graduated in 2013 but wasn’t able to get a steady job so I gave up on it in 2019. I used to use Revit back in the day… I bought a Mac a year ago, because I was sick and tired of having to buy a new laptop, also thinking I would never get back into architecture… anyway, so of course there’s no Mac version of Revit. So I decided to try Archicad, since it feels more professional than Sketch up. But I am having a hard time 😅 so thanks for these videos
Hi David Greetings from Here, Please I have not been able to find the cia tools you mentioned to select the cladding, fascia for Gable roof in Archicad 24
Thanks for sharing some high quality content on Archicad. Apart from that have you ever considered developing a even more detailed course and make it available on platforms such as Udemy and Skillshare ? I would definitely sign up😀
Hey. I have an old house and would love an architect to give me an approach to how they would change it. Would you do this or do you have a video on how to find one for my area (CA).
Depends. I’m happy to work on any project around the world but when they’re small jobs it’s often best to get a local architect to help you as it is much more cost effective. Most places have an architects register from your local board. The US is the same as AU where they have to be registered so you should have one
Some feedback on the new vertical format. I personally would prefer to only see the software full screen. If you want, have a chat with your audience at the start and end of the video - but I think it is important to focus on what you are doing in the software, without getting distracted by anything external to that.
how to solve the problem when I draw a wall in the air it gives me this error: as a result of the last operation, elements were created and/or changed their position on currently unseen stories
You are drawing it on the incorrect level and hence the error. You can either press ctrl + up/Dn arrow to find it or use the project map. Once you find it open the. Settings and set it to visible on all stories. You may also have to change the cutting plane settings if you need to see it on that specific floor plan and it’s too high up
So, you'll have your reference level or you ground level in this case which is 0. Anything below that marker is a reference to the negative space. So the "footings" in this instance would be how deep the slab goes into the ground. Whilst the ceiling/roof would be how height the level floor is. If the project ever changes, so for examples you have ground floor at 2400mm and it needs to change to 2745mm, you dont have to go back and move all the walls and layers if you've set it up correctly.
I just found out your channel, this is like a Gold mine for beginners architect, I am following the tutorial. Just at the beginning I can't seem to find the sketch plans in the view map. I am also using Archicad 24. Any ideas what is wrong?
Hello, I have just discovered your video, which I find superb, constructing a lot of buildings with exterior cladding, I have recovered your project, but it is educational, and I cannot recover your ci tools, you will be it is possible to share a project with me in pln archicad 23 or 24 so that I can copy it and paste it on a project, thank you, continue your videos
Could you please do a video on rendering archicad project on MacOS? I’m an architect 1st year student and I’m really struggling with this 😄🙏🏼 Love your videos, very helpful! :)
hi, i've just watched your video about which laptop to pick for an architecture student and i can't wrap my head around one thing. I have to ask, how do integrated graphics compare to dedicated or gaming graphics cards in graphicaly intense applications? It truly surprised me, that your daily driver is the surface laptop 3 with only intergrated graphics. I'm researching the market for a nice laptop, any tips?
Everything shown in this video was the standard ArchiCAD Australian template library. Try download the international version of the template and check your local page for more parts.
Hey David, I was wondering if you knew how to create interior vertical foliage/moss walls? There are BIM products out there however, they limit the ability to have design control. Would you recommend a technique I could use?
Great tutorial so far - just a heads up you forgot to mention the wall switch from external to internal as you fit out the Master Bed onward - for beginners this may cause some issues
@@DavidTomic Thank you, David - fabulous work on your part - your tutorial videos are extremely thoughtful and very helpful - I'm sure the Architecture community as a whole is extremely grateful to you
My understand of the word "foundation" is a concrete slab, not sure why you'd use a mesh tool? Can you be a bit more specific and I'll happily help out!

I am completely new to Archicad but I followed your tutorial (very slowly, over several hours). Thank you and I look forward to doing more.
I hope it was helpful and you learnt a lot for your first time!
That's just incredible! Very informative and simple to follow into this “jungle”. Many thanks, I hope your channel gets the attention it deserves!
We can't thank you enough for these tutorials, they're very helpful and informative.
Glad I could help my friend!
@@DavidTomic Thank you for your answer, it works with all archicads, I'm from France, do you have a link, thank you
I definitely prefer Archicad over Revit ✨
Your my hero David 😉

Top G David?
Glad I could help mate!
Thank you. Very easy to follow tutorial. I am busy learning Archicad after being on Revit for the last 10 years.
Most welcome!
Good Stuff David.
There needs to be more ArchiCAD tuts / resources out there!
Someone needs to be the Balkan Architect for ArchiCAD ;)
Thanks Chris! Haha working on it!
Great video mate! I've been using Archicad now for two years, as a student I find your videos helpful. Thanks for the tutorial

Great. Thanks David !

the video i needed, thanks

Thank you
How did you dowload the CI tools? I can't find it on my archicad version. Thankss
Check one of my latest videos about "any cladding" it has the links to ci tools there
Thank you so much david for this amazing tutorial can we get the photoshop and final phase of this project?
Probably won’t revert back to this project but I’ll be sure to do more in future tutorials :)
Good video, very informative. I prefer floating head to split screen. Usually I’m watching on my phone so the split screen was a bit small
Good feedback, thanks!
Any idea to do the same using only Archicad without plug-in?
Custom textures
Nice!

is ci tools an aussie plug in for people who work in Australia specifically?
According to them, it can be purchased anywhere in the world

Hmmm I am not sure why but my slabs join or cut off each other automatically when I put them together... is there something that I enabled?
Great videos David, just curious as to why you use the window tool for creating your sliding exterior doors, as apposed to using the door tool? cheers
I'm used to using the 4D library and that's just how it's set up.
@@DavidTomic cheers, so you can use that all the way through to construction drawings no worries I guess, not just for modeling?
Thanks!
Was there a reason you split the roof and manually made gables rather than change the roof plane to gable?
Not really, just trying to show as many different ways to do things as possible which might help solve someone's completely random problem.
hi it's really incredible tutorial. Thank you! And I found that the CI tool is very useful, how can I get it?

does the height to next mean the height of the house or does it relate to how deep the slab goes into the ground?

It is a very complicated process to do it in archicad. I'd recommend do it in a 3D rendering software instead
Hi David, thank you for this informative video. I have just a small query. How do we remove or deactivate trace reference once it has been created?
Make sure trace reference pallete is open and click the square in the top left corner of that window.

i cannot find ' sketch disign' in view map
It will be due to your template selection. The sketch design section isn’t too important just focus on the floor plan levels
You’re star David. Could you please help with how to create foundations
What are you looking for in particular with foundations?

it’s hard to explain over text. But don’t worry mate you’d probably talk about it in the coming weeks.
I lost my laptop. I'm just watching maybe I could retain the information for later use
Even if you remember one thing that's one new thing you've learnt
