I have the same welder. Does ok with tig if you make a dodgy foot pedal to break the arc and run gas lens in the torch. I manage to weld stainless with it. Looking for a machine with hf start stop not tho. Was good cheap way to learn.
Great video, I'm currently building my turbo manifold also (Spaghetti). How is the TIG practice coming along? I don't want to use MIG for my application but more and more it seems more practical. Cheers
Yeah, well I'm still watching because you are inspiring and modest all in one. Amazed at the stuff you just walk up to and knock over. But I remain old and grumpy and would have put a Pinto 2-litre (the usual Cortina 2000) into it, and maybe a sidedraught Weber, headers, etc. But I get that your generation is into next level tech, and you probably learned to drive in something faster than what I would build! I'm not sure whether there are off-the-shelf mounts and whatnot toput a 2-litre in a Mk1, but it would be the limit of my ambition and skills. Anyhow, grumble grumble. Definitely not watching any more. But I probably will. Grumble.
@@awolgarage send us a friend request on fb theres a picture of a k24 honda engine as my profile photo im done a fair bit of research on those 2.5 litre variant of your engine
Mate. Great stuff. Thanks for making these vids. It does take a fair effort on top of the actual car work.
Thanks mate I appreciate it. It does get a bit much sometimes but it should be worth it to look back at when the car is done.

Did you buy the exhaust manifold flange in Oz? Or is it a bought one from overseas - or even cut off something?
Yeah mate I bought it from a guy on ebay in Oz. I believe he can do any thickness, mild or stainless.
@@awolgarage Got a seller name or a link or anything?
Found him. The Flangeman. And there's a Duratec flange finally. Not sure why that never came up on any other searches. Cheers for the inspiration.
Ok so you used an RX 8 box do you know if the 6 speed mx5 box will bolt straight up without an adaptor plate love what your doing awesome project
Yeah I'm using the rx-8 6 speed. The NC Mx5 boxes will bolt in with no adaptor. They're just 3 times the price of the rx8 box in my part of the world.
@@awolgarage i use allmaz in victoria specialised mazda wrecker nice bunch of blokes working there
@@awolgarage is the NC a 6 speed manual???
Yes australia only got 6 speed manuals. America got 5 speeds and some people import them in. Apparently they're stronger.

The car will be slow? Or my progress? 😅
Does it matter that the turbo manifold is mild steel not stainless? Can the manifold start to corrode inside and send a flake of rust into the turbo?
Thanks for your comment. I'm honestly not sure. I haven't really thought about it but I'll look into it 👍
If you getting rust inside the manifold you have other problems
Have to drive more if rust is forming in any large qty in exhaust manifold
