I like your informative videos about the Model Y and recommendations for accessories. I was interested in your comments about the drooping sunshade and checked to see if you had the earlier version of the product I had purchased several months ago. The one you recommended is not currently available through Amazon and pricing is not listed. I purchased and am very pleased with the Tesmanian Version 2 sunshade, listing for $69.99. Their Version 2 solved the sagging problem by including two magnets which clamp onto metal washers which adhere to the underside of the glass roof. I suspect both your cover and the Tesmanian version are produced at the same Chinese factory, as they look almost exactly the same and have similar clamps to hold the product on the edges. Good work, and I will continue looking forward to your entertaining videos!
Thanks for sharing. I heard updates were coming to most of these on the market, and yes, I believe all these visors are made in the same factory. Its unfortunate but how it rolls I guess. I will keep an eye out for an updated version.
Awesome! I have the model y long range and planning a road trip from seattle to the california redwoods in June so this video has a bunch of good info.
I haven’t taken a new trip since they updated the software and changed how to name trips. I’ve looked for how to do it but haven’t had any luck. Would you please advise? Thanks
You may want to consider tinting the rear door windows also for the kids. The factory color is only privacy glass. It does not provide UV or heat rejection. I tinted mine 50% so it didn't get much darker than it already is.
The Topfit phone holder works well and is in a convenient viewing location. Only issue is when grabbing the phone while in park my knuckle sometimes touches the Tesla screen and opens the drunk! Not impressed with A Better Route Planner; trying to reset it while driving was often not successful (did not apply the changes). I eventually turned it off in frustration.
Do you recommend having additional adapters like the official Tesla CHAdeMO Adapter just in case or do you think that the J1772 adapter is enough. Great content as usual.
I have never used nor plan on using a CHAdeMO adapter. Those adapters are very expensive and the EA chargers are not wide spread enough, at least today, to justify.
When you using A Better Route Planner, do you just plug in the next ABRP charger stop in the Tesla navigation and then update, or do you set the Tesla navigation to the final destination for the drive and override it's stops if they don't agree with ABRP?
@@BeardedTeslaGuy isn't there a pre-condition battery feature that you'll miss out on if you don't update the Tesla navigation? It would be nice if the Better Route Planner could "share" the info with Tesla navigation.
Why is everyone so obsessed about heated steering wheels? Out of my 11 cars I've ever owned, there's never been this feature and I've never wished I had it. Are everyone's hands cold?? 🤣
@@AznPrzsn assuming you do not live in the midwest, I mean yes you can just wear gloves, but the heated wheel is really nice..... I wish it had ventilated seats...
@@msbgone I live in MO, so I think that's considered Midwest. NOW YES, THAT, ventilated seats, I just saw that feature last year in an SUV for the first time, I would definitely LOVE THAT. since you have snacks and drinks in the car, it begs the question- what do you do with the trash? I used to hang a plastic grocery bag over the gear shift until I recently got my 2021 MY. Obviously that's not a solution anymore, so is there a trash holder idea or product that you use?
I keep the trash in a plastic bag until we stop and throw it all away at that point. I also usually have the boys snacks in a normal sized box from the store, so we usually fill their snack cups with crackers and such without having all the wrappers from individual packs.
@@BeardedTeslaGuy was thinking that fold up organizer might be a good option for my trash, just put a plastic bag inside of it. Thank as always for the informative vid
Hi Justin, I am in the process or ordering a new Model Y and would like to use your referal code, tesla is asking me to send to them so they can add to my order. Help?
To keep the roof shade from sagging, get a piece of 1/2” x 2” x 5’, from Home Depot, cut down to 41” , sand the ends, and fit it between the shade and the top of B pillar to hold the middle part of shade up. You can spray paint the wood to black to match the shade color. Problem solved!
I recommend getting 70% tint on the front windshield. Helps with uv and heat coming into the driver on south bound road trips!
Good tip, thanks for sharing
make sure it's ceramic tint

Good luck and enjoy the ride!

Great information! My 3 has 20" performance wheels and I'm concerned about long road trips. Would it be smart to invest in a spare?
Up to you. I don’t use one but would be a good safety to have I suppose
100% agree on the 3D Maxpider floor mats. I have them in my Model 3 and they are awesome. I’m hoping they make some for the 7 seater Y.
I know they are working on the 7 seat option as we speak
@@BeardedTeslaGuy Good to know. Thank you.
My understanding is from Chicago to Canada it will take 4 hrs of charging time in transit. Is that correct?
No lol. Every 2 hours of driving plan 20-30 min of charging

Talking about the crash in Texas, What auto pilot does when it detects no driver. disengage and stops?
Disengages and comes to a stop
Did a road trip as well. Will be camping too and the adaptor I will get! Thanks
Good luck on your trip and just enjoy it!
Great video, I do long road trips west coast to Midwest. Have quite a bit of the things you have. Will look into the 2 apps you like

How about making coffee while on a road trip? 12v "cigarette lighter" or use an inverter with normal electric kettle?
There’s 2 12V in the car

Thank you! How much does cold weather affect range?
Cold weather has an impact on range, mostly driven by the energy consumption of running the heater.
I would like to upgrade my acceleration to 4.2s in my model Y. do you think is it worthwhile and Can I feel the difference?
Oh you can feel the difference. It’s pretty nice
I did it yes it is noticeable thank you for your advice it’s better to pay 2000 instead of 10,000 for performance
Thanks those are great tips

How about a spare tire ? You recommend taking one on trips
I don’t, but it’s probably a smart thing to have
When you using A Better Route Planner, do you just plug in the next ABRP charger stop in the Tesla navigation and then update, or do you set the Tesla navigation to the final destination for the drive and override it's stops if they don't agree with ABRP?
Override stops most of the time. Sometimes I plug in the charger I want to check on charge level at arrival

Its the TT-30P to 14-50. Looking at the options, they appear to be sold out of the correct one. I am looking for an alternative now.
At this time, this is the only one out there available on Amazon. This one will work: amzn.to/3tvQLKI
