    Manjul B is a true representative of Indian culture and its values. Particularly for the "Hemchandra" numbers which invented by Indian mathematician well before Fibonacci.

      Angad Singh To be completely honest this man would completely destroy Ramanujan in knowledge. Ramanujan's discoveries are stuff undergrad first year maths majors learn, meanwhile this guy's discoveries are beyond phD level maths. Not to downplay Ramanujan's ability but there are levels to this, Ramanujan unfortunately didn't have a formal western education to fast track him like this guy did.

      luther schultz Ramanujan's work was remain unsolved that's why you are saying this. He was the most intelligent person in math . And Recently and indian akshay venkatesh won the fields in medal in mathematics . But Ramanujan's work remain unsolved because he died at very young age.

    Manjul Bhargava - one of the greatest minds *India* has ever created !? .... Afaik - Manjul didn't study in India, so what makes India the creator of this genius? Born in Canada & grew up in USA. If anything, those two countries nurtured his intellect & made it flourish. Stop hogging the limelight so desperately.

      tbh both equally have worked hard and sacrificed a lot in their life. I do agree that drugs aren't something good to do but hey they must have had their reasons as actors/actresses face a lot of criticism and tension that we don't know about and media usually keeps bugging them. I'm not a fan of Bollywood or anything but I just think we all should have an unbiased opinion.

No one explained me why i have to apply that, if i ask they say just remember formula and apply. Then i quit maths altogether. I wish there must be maths teachers who explain the things so maths will be more fun.

    In my neighborhood in central Florida math is the sum of all the lessons learned by appreciating the velocity a bullet achieves by applying a trigger. It's simple: the teacher is scared. And the thug wins. And if you succeed at intimidating the teacher you've achieved notoriety, though, of a backward kind. The need to be heard, here, is clearly bigger than the need to listen.

    Regardless of why Fields medal is considered as Nobel prize of math...the monetary compensation is quite less in Fields medal.
    A better analogy would be to consider the Wolf prize or the Abel prize which have a similar prestige and monetary remuneration as the Nobel prize and are given out annually.
    p.s. the recent Breakthrough prizes might become the most prestigious prizes awarded in coming years.

    Fibonacci who was an Italian in his book Liber Abbaci mentions it has the Modus Indorum i.e the Method of the Indians which he learnt from the Arabs in northern africa where his father was a trader.His book was the one which introduced the Hindu numerals he learnt from Arabs and introduced to europeans who started calling it Arab numerals. Shame we Indians don't know abt this b'coz we are not taught this. See Mr. Bhargav was influenced by ancient Sanskrit work on Math.Yet we argue whether to learn Sanskrit or German while Germany has most of our ancient Sanskrit manuscripts which they took during colonial time.Of course it was of great importance otherwise they wuldn't have bought it.Not to mention the destruction of our ancient university of Nalanda, Vikramshila by Turkish invaders b'coz of which we lost many valuable work and scholars.

      Did anyone notice prannoy roy's face when professor bhargava mentioned the name of sanskrit scholar, Prannoy roy through his channel keeps demonizing sanskrit and anything related to ancient indian traditions because he feels that this will benefit hindutva forces like bjp in the elections. Shame on this congress stooge journalist like prannoy roy who keep forcing nehru's anglacized pseudo-secular, pseudo feminist ideology on people of india and unfortunately some people used to consider ndtv as fair and unbaised but thankfully now that feeling is changing fast.
      I hope people soon realize that NDTV is completely biased in favour of congress because When journalists become biased, they try to downplay the mistakes of their favorite party and play up the mistakes of the other party.
      Journalists like Barkha dutt, Rajdeep, Shekhar gupta, Vir sanghvi,Ravish kumar, Om thanvi, Abhey kumar dubey,Kumar ktkar,Urmilesh etc always try to hide or downplay congress's glaring corruption and apathy for development and always try to find faults in everything that bjp tries to do.
      This trend of biased journalism is as dangerous as showing nag-nagin, and babas on news channels

      Kunal Singh The shame is on the party that is using religion (and language), a private choice of an individual, as their winning agenda in a 'democratic secular' nation. It is the religions that are demonizing people and sanskrit is a dead language (do you speak it or just advocate for it?), anything useful in it has been translated into many contemporary languages. If this mathematician learnt it, it is his personal interest and doesn't make the language all so important; moreover, this was about mathematics, not sanskrit

    • @geeta719
      @geeta719 9 лет назад +2

      Devi Vinod Haven't read Fibonacci's Italian book, but a lot of us with observation and reasoning power use many a methods that are unconventional and/or not published anywhere formally and methodically. The one that formulates it and proves/applies it rigorously to systems will be able to publish it and will get credit (barring plagiarists and opportunists that are evenly distributed across geography and religion/language and whatever other means of segregating there is in use). An exaggerated example would be that someone who notes that things thrown up tend to fall to the ground, claiming that it is he/she, not Newton who should be credited for the theory of gravity. This kind of silly outcry about sanskrit (you even anglicize the word!) and about the brilliance of ancient Indians has gone on for a while and is rejuvenated by lazy opportunist politicians and babas to make a living without working like the rest of us.

    This interview with Prof. Bhargav was just marvelous though too short to unravel the the creative mind of this genius with examples from music , poetry and other arts and the mathematical soul into these arts !
    Unfortunately like mathematics the poetry was also taught ( as a part of 1st or 2nd language in schools) in a very drab and uninnovative way , I say this with very sincere apologies to some few great teachers ! मराठी शिक्षकांनी आणि पालकांनी बालकवी च्या कवितांचा पुन्हा एकदा सखोल विचार करावा ! आज मला तर असे वाटले की कदाचित ते गणितज्ञ होता होता कवी होऊन गेले !

      Marco L. Lucas I'm Marco L. Lucas, I am Sachin, I'm Manjul Bhargava, I'm Prannoy...We are humans of the earth, stop this idiotic narcissism. The fact is that you are trying to imagine an ideal society while it functions on pragmatic lines. Communities, countries and names do matter. You have chosen your name as your youtube id which proves your hypocrisy.

    • @geeta719
      @geeta719 9 лет назад +6

      SACHIN SHARMA Just in case you misunderstood (or didn't get it all) the comment is trying to say that nationality is irrelevant - a society can only be as ideal as individuals that make it up and you are one of those who negates it hiding behind the"no one is ideal", pretty standard excuse. Names are needed to identify individuals in cases necessary (for eg, the medal could not have been given to you, but to Manjul only), and all that is Manjul's work, not just any individual's AND not any country's. Geographic locations are necessary in working out things in which weather is important or you're travelling. Race is important (though fading rapidly) in medical analyses, and so on. Rest of the 'isms' in the society are created and preserved by opportunists looking to overpower and grab, and followed by brain-washed or subdued (by these opportunists) masses.

    • @ZoeTheCat
      @ZoeTheCat 9 лет назад +3

      Marco L. Lucas I think the context is the teaching SYSTEM within each country. Rote memorization is a VERY POOR METHOD. Apparently, India tends to use memorization over understanding. My own experience (USA) K-12 was diverse. The student is at the mercy of his/her teacher. If the teacher is incompetent, you'd better have motivation to learn yourself. Some teachers are excellent and you can learn a topic at a much deeper level.

    The Moment teachers will teach maths for its sheer thinking ability and problem-solving approach not to get good marks in the board, you'll have great mathematicians.
    _simple as that_

    What I did in mathematics.
    Lemme tell you.
    I was in six.
    A man in the bus while travelling to city where I was supposed to go school and he to market.
    He said add
    These numbers
    999
    888
    777
    But answer should be
    999
    Many people were amazed how this will happen. Many of them said an idiot what kind of question is like.
    But I started to find answer at the end solved.
    Why I did not say answer doesn't exist because if one asks it must exist.
    Till my XII class I created many formulas but unfortunately, all of them already exist.
    Knowing that I loose heart and started poetry and written many poems it will be two books collection.
    I know accented and unaccented syllables .
    My poem consists of four hundred lines containing 14 syllables.
    Accented=X
    Unaccented=U
    XXUXUXU = 7×2=14
    There are many poems. Written by me

    People will love mathematics if they see how it is being applied say in fluid dynamics for example. By the way Indian teachers are very good in teaching math. I believe the best way is to show how the math got to applied say in vibroacoustics for example. Ofcourse abstract math can be dry.

    Maths is typically about problem solving, I belive that Maths works sort of like a computer. This is how it works: To successfully be able to solve anything, A computer undergoes three major and Important steps and they are: Input, process and output. For us humans, when we do Maths we have to typically do the same thing but in a different way. For us Input putting our efforts in, when you think about process, it certainly works in our CPU ( our brain). If the user (which is basically us) does it in a creative and understandable p and easy way, then our output could be much higher than a computer which does it in a Harare way.

    What you mean by sum to infinity equals minus one twelfth. Just says an inverted ratios of twelve generates all numbers or a partition sequel. Or if you hit a string of 12 you can get all the notes within that spectrum. Just says edges of a cube.
