- The Roma is fully hand crafted in Marostica Italy. I've honestly not been more excited about a frameset in over 15 years. I might even start riding on the road again.
Thank you to Lucas from NO BAD TRIPS providing me with the coolest kit.

These are easily some of the most enjoyable bike vids on YT. I could watch these all day.
Thank you so much. I’ll try and keep it up.
I’m a simple man, I see Nic, I click.
Hahahaha, thank you. 🙏🏽
Magical build with Sram Red,cool to see you use different types of grease for different parts of the bike, enjoy your new super machine.💯👌🏻🚲
Thank you. Yeah, I’ve got about 8 different types of grease. 1 of them even costs £20 per 10ml 😬
@NicVieriMechanic Expensive grease that,my Shimano Freehub grease was pretty expensive at about R200 for 50g .💯✌🏻
i am normally a fan of the look of aero frames but the look of this battaglin looks absolutely sensational. perfect color contrasts
Thank you. I feel like it blends classic and modern quite well. The colour was a last minute change. I’d usually go for mega plain options. Glad I’ve gone bolder for a change
what a legend. I am really happy for you. everyone should have a chance to do this once in a lifetime
Thank you so much. 🙌🏼
Those Battaglin frames are seriously gorgeous 👍👍
They have some exciting stuff planned for this year I think. I’m really looking forward to see what they come up with.
Wow, that's a nice bike 😍
Thank you. 🙏🏽
The steel & carbon is such a beautiful combination. I have seen a similar frame from a local framebuilder and was totally in awe. Maybe one day
The perfect combination of weight vs ride feel. 👌🏼
Beautiful, straight, classic round tubes, what a relief. Great build, very soothing music :)
Thank you. I think they’ve managed to perfectly blend the classic look into using carbon as well
Love these build videos. Great photography, sooting music and very skilled craftsmanship!
Thank you so much. I still have loads to learn about making videos though. Hopefully they can only get better. 🙌🏼
@ well, you’re certainly off to a great start! In the future I’d love hear some talk on why the bikes are specced as they are and so on. It’s been very nice getting to know you over at Cade Media
Those frames are a work of art.
This Italians really know what they are doing 👌🏽
Love watching your builds , keep them coming Nic. Love the colour.
Thank you for watching. I really appreciate it. 🙌🏼
Another beautiful job! I really enjoy watching you assembling those beautiful bikes! Keep it up Nic, you have golden hands! Greetings from Slovakia, Roman.
Hello Roman, thank you so much. I’m definitely gonna have to come visit Slovakia at some point. 🙌🏼
@@NicVieriMechanic Absolutely! People can be sometimes silly here xD and drivers does not have a lot of patience with road cyclist but when it comes to gravel,... hold my beer :D . I mean it is not Kansas, LA or RSA, but we have decent gravel rides everywhere here!
Lovely chilled build as ever and sweet ride, Cheers Nic👍
Thank you. Super happy you enjoyed it.
Beautiful bike and my ideal spec!
Great job and 1X for the win! 👍
Thank you. Yes, I had 1x, then went back to 2x and hated it. So back on 1x permanently now.
That frame is a stunner!
Thank you. Now I just need some legs.
We love your videos from Asmera 🇪🇷 👍
Thank you so much. I can’t believe you guys are watching from all the way over there 🙌🏼
This is the best dreambuild with the sickest bike I’ve ever seen in my life 🥹
Thank you. Not sure how I’m gonna top it.
That is absolutely stunning!
Thank you. 🙏🏽
What a beauty man... Like you told me - Long Live Metal Bikes (w/ round tubes)!
Yeah, metal bikes are making a strong comeback 🙌🏼
Yes. Got my dream custom Ti bike earlier this year. 1 of 1 in a sea of carbon bikes here in SoCal. Rides like a dream and turns heads at all coffee stops.@NicVieriMechanic
That bike is absolutely stunning 😍
Thank you so much.
Now that is a beautiful bike! Sadly I don’t have the legs or lungs to merit a bike like that, but I can dream. Great vid, thanks Nic.
Andy, I’m not sure I have the legs or lungs either 😬 Thank you so much for watching though. I really appreciate the support.
Absolutely gorgeous. Insane wheels at an insane price, but they look SO damn good and probably ride super nice too. Love the colors of the frame, too!
Yes, they aren’t cheap. But in their defence they come out at the same price as Enve, Zipp, Princeton and Partington. So very competitively priced against them.
Their starting point for carbon wheels with a life time crash replacement cost £850 as well. I’m incredibly impressed with what they are doing these days.
@ £850 isn’t too insane. I saw $4500-$5000 just a quick google search but still. If it’s what you like then have at it! I’ll be curious to hear if they’re really good or not.
Looks very lovely Nic, nice to see a road bike with a bit of colour, and if it doesn't make you want to ride road again you can hang it on the wall and just look at it.
Thank you. I don’t usually pick any colours. But I’m really glad I did this time. Thanks for watching
That was a very relaxing and enjoyable video. I was a bit mesmerised.
Thank you so much 🙌🏼
Beautiful work, Beautiful bike ❤
Thank you very much!
Great build. I have ordered mine in Laguna. Going Dura-ace 2x setup with my own hand built wheels in 45mm profile. 21 spokes triplet lacing.
I was really considering going for the Laguna. It’s such a good colour. The problem is that they have so many choices.
Send me some photos when you get it finished 🫶🏼
@@NicVieriMechanic Will do.
Congratulations. Absolutely beautiful bike.
Thank you so much
Awsome build and beautiful in the flesh. Glad my consultancy work paid dividends😉
Haha, I’m ordering yours tomorrow. You need to pick a colour
Absolute beaut. Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you 🙏🏽
Most impressive tool in the workshop! 07:04
🤣
Absolute beaut of a bike. Great vid.
Thank you so much.
Love those wheels. Beauty bike!
Thank you.
Uffff... what a ride 🤩 dream road bike indeed. Congratulations! Visting Marostica, Italy was not on my travel list but now it is. Would be fun to get a review video after a couple months of kms
I’ll definitely do a review after a few months.
Yes, it’s essentially the centre of the Italian cycling industry.
Unbelievably good looking rig
Thank you 🙏🏽
Looove the frame color!
It was a last minute change. But I’m super happy I did it.
Thanks for watching though 🙌🏼
Stunning. Congratulations 🎉
Thank you! 😊
What a beautiful weapon you have their Nick🎉🎉
Now I just need to find some legs 😋. Thank you.
@@NicVieriMechanicRandy thinks you have a beautiful weapon.😐
Love your vids Nic! Stunning bike! I would love to take that on Chapmans Peak!
Yes I definitely need a trip home soon with it. 🙌🏼
@@NicVieriMechanic I haven't been back in about 2 years, so ja I agree need to go back for visit! LOL!
Another quality Nik film! Keep it up!
Thank you. Hopefully I can keep it up.
Magnifique vélo et superbe montage vraiment chapeau 👏👏👍🇫🇷🚴🏻♂️
Merci 🫶🏼
Bravo! what a beauty!
Thank you 🙏🏽
Such a beautiful bike 😍🤩👍
Those Italians are doing some amazing stuff at the moment ❤️
Wow. Wicked build
Thank you 🙏🏽
Oh god ❤ ... An italian dream is on the road, watch out guys !!
Not sure I’ll do the bike any justice though 😬
thanks
🙌🏼
Totally a thing of much beauty ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much. Can’t wait to ride it this week ❤️
bravo man, it's exquisite, very enjoyable video even haha
Haha, thank you
nice job nick
Thank you
Masterpiece!
Thank you 🙏🏽
What a title that is!
I never know what to write in these
Keep up the good work nic
Thank you.
Stunning.
Thank you!
Beautiful.
Yeah, she’s turned out better than I imagined 🙌🏼
Amazing bike
Thank you. Mega impressed with what Battaglin is doing this year.
Great apart from the disc brakes and 1x which I personally hate
I went back to 2x for about 7months but it didn’t work for me. 1x is just loads easier and offers everything I need for cheaper and less unnecessary weight
Enduro all day
Only the best
Love that build but would have loved to see a integrated handlebar on that beauty, just because thats what it was made for. EXS Aerover may be a great fit.
I might swap out at some point. I’ve been trying to open an account with EXS but we’ve had no reply yet.
I decided on the Zipp because of the carbon layup suits the frame the most. And I already had the stem and bars. Saves some cost.
@@NicVieriMechanic yeah, and also the zipp stuff fits the sram theme AND is bombproof. I have just recently switched from the deda alanera to the EXS on my Time AdH and really like it so far. You might get a reply after chinese new year :)
Beautiful ♥
Thank you!
A beauty!
Wow , thats a beautiful bike , Nic ! Is it really yours ? Enjoy if it is , you deserve to .
Thank you. Yes, I ordered it months ago. Been trying to get all the right parts together for some time.
@@NicVieriMechanic again , enjoy the hell out of it!
Wow
Thank you
Maybe do a ride video too?
Yes, I’ll get Jimmi or Francis to film some stuff over the next couple of weeks
Yasssssss super Nice ❤
Thank you 🙏🏽
Talk to us Nick! Please tell us about the selection of parts…There must be a story behind it and would be nice to hear it
Yes is definitely a video I need to make this week. It might not be very good, but I’ll try my best.
Wow!! That color is incredible! Agreed with other comments - such a nice mix of high-tech modern and classic. Where you able to customize the sizing (stack, reach, etc) too?
No, but the sizing was perfect for what I needed. They’ve used all the bike fit data they’ve collected from doing fully custom frames over the last 40 years and made the frame in 7 sizes.
They do
Offer full custom sizing as well. But I always feel it’s dangerous to change the geometry too much. It often changes how the bike rides.
I still prefer alloy over carbon & might build a titanium one.
You should definitely give titanium a try. But make sure it’s a well made frame. Also try steel if you ever get a chance.
Gee thanks for the 5 second Pic of the finished bike.
Didn’t think anyone will watch all the way to the end 🤷🏻♂️
All kidding aside, I have no idea how Kim got leave it up for. I’ll make it a bit longer on the next one. 10sec?
Maybe press pause?
How to relax and free your mind after a busy day, watch Nic Vieri’s bike builds 💆♂️
I’ll have to start doing some weekday ones 😋
Woo, it finally arrived, i see!
Pity only their road frame is available in this lugged design, otherwise i'd have another bike i'd really want and absolutely cannot afford...
Hold on for a couple of months and you might be surprised 😉
@@NicVieriMechanic Don't get me hopelessly excited :D
Again..Bike Porn at its finest 👍🏻 one of the most beautiful bikes I’ve ever Layed eyes on! Love the videos Nic, look forward to seeing many more!
Thank you so much. It’s gonna be difficult to top this one. I’ve got some ideas though. Watch this space 🙌🏼
Cromovelato … dreambike … serious money spend on that bike, But I love it ❤
When i first saw the Roma it was the first time since I can remember that I actually fell in love with a frames purely based on the looks.
It wasn’t cheap, but I think you get more value compared to the other Italian brands who don’t make their own frames anymore.
How did the BB fitting go? I see BB's inner sleeve is thick, not every metal frame will let hydraulic line pass easily over 29/30 bb's inner sleeve inside t47 shell. Sometimes chainstay's exit hole is so small making hydraulic line bend at some extreme angle so the only way is to use 24mm cranks to make some space.
It’s slightly tighter than a carbon bb shell. But I’ve fitted a few bb30 cranks to their frames without any real trouble. The holes are fairly big, but it’s is constrained by being a steel frame. You can’t just move them unfortunately.
What size BB is it?
T47 I think @@MrAndywordley
nice!!!
Thanks!
What disc rotors are those? Amazing build 👏
They are Ferodo Road rotors. Thank you 🙌🏼
Very exciting built!
Hope, you won't regret cutting off the fork that radical 😮!
What framesize is it?
It’s the Medium+ so a 170mm head tube and with the added 10mm headset top cap actually puts me slightly higher than what I’m used to on the road bike. But I did it on purpose to give me a slightly more upright ride now that I’m riding more gravel (where I’m 3 higher)
I made a massive mistake with my first ti gravel bike by just cutting it all the way down to the same height I ride on the road. Luckily I crashed and snapped my fork, so had the perfect excuse to buy a new one 😋
I see. Interesting how they put (solder/weld/glue) together steel-lugs and carbon... (?). Would you make a Clip on the bike itself and how it rides?
Wow! Who makes those stunning brake rotors?
They are from Ferodo 👌🏽
Roughly how long does your build process take? I'm going to be doing my first one soon - professionals make it look so easy!
If it’s just a build it’s about 2 hours for something like this. To film it stretches it out to about 5 or more hours.
Enjoy it. Nothing more fun than building your own bike.
Whats with the axe on the tool rack??? Is that for really stuck bottom brackets or bikes you hate lol😅????
A bit of both 🤣 Mainly TT bikes though 😋
That's a bit tasty is that!
Thank you 🫶🏼
Amazing bike build and video! I always enjoy spotting the small details when putting a bike together. Do you have an affiliate link for the Enduro Bearings? I’m starting a new road bike build next month.
Thanks for watching. I don’t unfortunately. But I’ll see if I can get something sorted this week. If not, I’ll list them all on the bikes shops website and do a code on here for a discount
❤❤❤
The shirt or the bike? 😋
As a owner of a pink portifino myself its nice to see your Roma ... did you have a trip to moristica?
The Portifino is a real beauty. No, but I’ve told Alex that I’m coming to visit in April.
Nice one Nic 👍, keep the up the good work, we all love your workmanship and builds that you show..the battaglin is a real head turner on a Sunday club run.
So not aero, yet so beautiful
Most aero wheels at least 🤷🏻♂️
@NicVieriMechanic haha yea those things are mega!
Please tell me you are not riding this beautiful bike in crappy winter weather.
Or why would you choose the Pirelli 4S? The standard Race TLR has already a really good puncture protection. And for the summer you could go with the RS ( that’s what I do, I have all three of them).
Well, I don’t think the weather ever becomes great over here. So I tend to stick to 4 season tires on my road bikes. It’s the grip and cold temp rubber that I’m after.
@ The Pirelli 4S TLR is the first and only tire I never had a puncture during winter riding. I also like the grip and ride feel but I have to admit it’s a bit slow rolling, I especially noticed it on my ride today, it was only 1 degree Celsius.
How the hell do you get the tyres on? I have Pirelli Race RS TLR’s to put on Mavic SLRs and can’t get the first bead over let alone the second. My thumbs are bleeding!!
@@tobynewman121 Haha, that’s true. I’ve mounted them on four different sets of wheels and it was always a real struggle. Definitely harder to fit than a 5000 STR or a Corsa Pro.
Jaaaasis Nic 😂😂 tien uit tien🎉🎉🎉
Baie dankie 🙌🏼
Please return to rhe WW podcast once in a while! 🙏
I’m sure we can come up with a plan 🙌🏼
Surprised you didn’t go 13spd since you’re going road 1x anyways? No power meter either? Love the frame and wheels tho
I love the new 13 speed, but for road I don’t really need bigger than a 36t cassette. And with the 48t ring it’s essentially the same as a 53/11 top end.
I’ve had quite a few power meters now and I never do anything with the data, so I don’t bother fitting them anymore.
Thanks for watching though. I really appreciate it.
@@NicVieriMechanic fair enough, I hope SRAM releases a tighter cassette too for 13spd soon since it’s the only thing keeping me from putting it on my UDH road bike. Would love to see No22 build in future 🙂
What gearing did you choose?
I also ride 1x on all three of my bikes.
I’ve gone with a 48t ring and 10-36. I’ve tried a few different setups but this hits the sweetspot for my road riding
This might be cheeky, but out of interest, what’s the ball park figure in terms of cost for something this stunning?
Happy for you to ignore if prefer not to disclose.
Full retail would be ball park £13800. But it’s possible to build it for considerably less if we pick to components carefully.
@ probably the best bike I’ve ever set eyes on. Well done and enjoy.
Dream bike and Sram in the same sentence ?
This guy has to get out more.
Hahaha, tell me about Shimano and Campag. I’d love to hear your argument.
I’m wondering, what do you need that huge axe for in a bicycle repair shop? 🤣😉
I use it to cut brake hoses 😋
@@NicVieriMechanicwish to see it on next video😂
Do you custom build any bikes or just gravel/road?
As a shop mainly just drop bar road and gravel. Will do other stuff if it’s mega interesting 👌🏼
@NicVieriMechanic nice one, drop bars for the win 🤟
Can’t imagine spending that much money on a 1X
So much better than 2x. I even went back to 2x for 6 months to double check. The front mech is dying a rapid death
The bike can take 2x if you wanted though
What are the rotors?
Ferodo Road Centrelock’s in 160mm
What are those rotors??
They are from Ferodo. It’s their Road version
Why have you got a axe hanging on your tool wall?
We used to have a wood fireplace inside the workshop. Still have one in the shop that we chop the wood down for.
Some girth on them tyres! 40mm?
32mm. I need the comfort for these roads 🤣
@@NicVieriMechanic getting old mate 🤣
that frame deserves campy.
If they step up their game and get back to what they used to do I’ll switch back. But not at the moment unfortunately. They have no regard for bike shops. Arguably the only people who could save them are small retailers. But they couldn’t care less
Have you used modern campy? Its horrible.
when will you finally be talkin? :(
I’m still struggling with it. 😔 I’ll keep trying though
