I believe the first custom nsmbu levels were being made back in 2016, but yeah things have certainly moved more quickly this time around, mostly because the game released for an older console with established tools
I can't wait to see more Wonder levels from you. I'd personally love to see a level that combines the slime wonder flower with missile megs, assuming it works the way I imagine it to work.

I haven't finished the game yet so I don't know about World 4 and later Wonder effects, but out of curiosity, how does the snowing Wonder effect work? Are the snow blocks that the falling snowflakes create in a set place, or is it random?

While I was watching this I was taking mental notes about how a level editor could be made. I'm a programmer and I've made similar things in the past so it wouldn't be a major undertaking. I wonder how long it will take the community to created a fully fledged one
This is really cool and is making me want Mario Maker 3 to exist. One thing about the wonder section is that there are always a multiple of 10 of the small flower coins in the base game. The section had 2 left over, but I dont blame you since it's a really obscure thing to know.
there's a program called Tiled that lets you layout level tilesets and is much lighter and easier to use than miyamoto, might be useful for future endeavors

Yoooo what about a lava bog level where the floor is high and the wonder flower effect is water/lava swap so the lava is at the surface. So its a lava bog level but then u get the wonder flower the lava flips up so you need too stay low
My guess about that Blue Bird 4-block restriction is that the platform its projectile generates seems to be exactly 4 blocks, so it needs space to grow, otherwise it would glitch or push the Blue Bird itself back
Seeing that the game uses YAML made me immediately think that coding a level editor for the game would be quite easy and someone will definitely do it fairly soon!
I know their filenames sure, for example the filename of the owl enemy is HouHou, but that doesn't necessarily mean that's what their actual name is, most filenames aren't 1:1 like that

If the shadow effect for some stages can be implimented, i really want someone to make w mario wonder mod making the whole game be shadow levels. Also i wish this was easier cause id make custom backgrounds for hours
making the whole game silhouetted probably isn't that hard to do, and you'll be able to mess with backgrounds all you like once a proper level editor has been released
I suppose you could swap out the semisolid texture for one tileset with the main ground texture of another tileset and achieve something like that, but it would definitely be a bit jank
I haven't released anything myself yet, but you could play other people's mods by either playing the game using an emulator on pc or homebrewing your switch
as has rightfully been pointed out by another commenter the word programming might not be perfectly applicable to what I did, but either way this level took 4 days to make
there is basically nothing even remotely similar about the ways both games levels are stored, I wouldn't know where to begin when it comes to directly converting from tile-based to node-based terrain also I'm not a programmer, and a level editor has already been made since this video was released

oh you mean the sketch paper effect I apply once or twice in this video? No that was just a silly video editing trick I discovered and put to use illustrate my point that I'm using the Miyamoto level editor in this video purely to sketch out the level. makes complete sense that someone who hasn't beaten the game yet might think that's a wonder effect though I suppose

Theres a node-based scripting language that seems to be used by a lot of things in the game, and can theoretically be changed by mods (eventually)

It took nearly 6 years for NSMB.U Level hacks to fully establish. Now, a week after Wonder launched we got our first, full custom level!

We already have the ability to remove the shadow, so adding to every stage wouldn’t be that difficult.
you mixed background textures-could you also mix tilesets? like, use one ground texture at the start but transition to another halfway through?

What is the Gyaml for the ground tiles? All the ones I've looked at have been decoration. Or is the ground stored elsewhere?
the ground tiles are the BgUnit stuff towards the end of the file, they're not an actor but are just a list of coordinates
