Yes, James, as I always say: "Its impossible to have too many tools, or too much room to to use and store them in" and, of course, "too much money to afford it all".
P.S.: The Hovarter Cheetah Vise Looks like it really brings the venerable leg-vise into the 21st century. I know there's a lot of machinery that also use wheels instead of crank handles. Some even combine the two into one. However, considering the height the handle will be at, I'd point out that adding a knob/handle to the wheel might be a real octave raiser, vocally.

Just built mine, very unique out of big chestnut and hornbeam 4 inch slabs from trees I felled, quarter of a log sort of live edge legs, shaker style bottom. Bought an absolute beast of a vice with No 53 record vice, travelled all the way from Liverpool England to Italy via trains and my car.
I absolutely love the whole bench.

You are really upping the ante this summer. The cheap planes test and your ultimate bench were easily my most anticipated topics from you, (plus reshaping your chisel handles earlier this year). I have been quite happy with my 2.0 bench, so I'm seriously hoping this wont force me into building a new one. By the way, really surprised that circular saw couldnt tough it out, granted toughest thing I cut was a 2" beech slab, but still, you'd think that with going slowly, it would still cut decent in something thicker.

Ha ha, kiddie in a toy shop! I love this. Need a new bench, better buy a bigger shop. I've just been through the same decision making process with a 1900 30" bandsaw. Trouble is, I only bought my house a month ago, so the saw may have to wait. Or I'll find another one and just have it dominate my current space. 😂
I'm with you on the satisfaction of moving big heavy things. The lateral thinking and experimentation to do such things is eminently satisfying. I would recommend a farm Jack to add to the arsenal. They're incredibly cheap if you bide your time. I paid $20 for mine. First job I used it for was to shift girlfriends 2 ton shed, 4ft. I didn't even bother emptying it. Pure mechanical advantage and all that Victorianesque clanking and finger biting, teeth breaking potential of the thing. It's a lot of fun to use.
Looking forward, very much to this build series. Exciting times, indeed

I went a bit mad with my Roubo bench from trees I harvested by hand too. It's a big old project and I was out growing my old harbor-freight bench. But I put off so many other household projects to get that done, now I haven't had time to enjoy the bench as I'm now working clearing my honeydew backlog. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do and I'm sure I'm gonna smack myself on the forehead a time or two. Like your flattening jig using a router: I did mine all by hand, fore plane then regular plane, then tip it on it's side and square up the front and smooth that: whew, I'm getting tired just thinking about it.
