In this VOD review we'll be focusing on my gameplay as a Viper who really doesnt have any great lineups or setups. I try out a bunch of different wall uses, poison clouds, and even use some interesting retakes with my mollies. A lot of my improvement needs to come from my knowledge and comfort on Viper, but also on my teamwork. You'll notice that I have a tendency to peek a lot, and often times without the proper support of my team. In this game we end up blowing a nice lead, and despite playing pretty well overall I feel like I had a few too many rounds that I threw. Lots to improve here, enjoy!

As someone who frequently plays viper on breeze, I can tell you that waiting until you hear footsteps to use your ultimate on defense is not the move. The ult itself takes a few seconds to reach full size and most of the time if you wait until the last second to Ult, they will just dump entry and recon utility onto you (because they know you have to be very close to where they can see the ult originating) and you will get eviscerated. Ideally you want to ult as soon as the barrier drops and in a position where you can recharge the ult somewhat safely without having to push into enemy territory, but that still maintains solid control of the chokepoint. If you ult too deep into the chokepoint, to recharge the ult you have to enter into it and expose yourself to multiple close angles they could be ratting in.

As a person who plays viper more i have another small tip that will make defending a lot easier. That orb you do on b main is great but if you put it a little bit further into that corridor the enemies dont have 3 ways out of that smoke but just one and then they are easier kills. Its a small improvement but small improvements can go a long way.
At 3:15 You could've had an earlier indication for why your Jett was holding the tighter off angle to protect the mid B push. While you were watching main, on your mini map you actually see Jett come from elbow and kill your initial teammate overlooking from nest. Meaning you could've continued watching main
Late comment, but 12:37 there was a viper wall blocking site except for the very edge of the area, and they just came around the very edge, which is why reyna peeked without your team spotting her

9:55 Why run into the Viper molly? Waste of 1000 credits, feel like you shouldve counted that as a mistake.
hes max credits, so didn't hurt him at all. Not sure if he knew that

i play viper, but sometimes idk when i should/shouldnt play for lineups
On 6:50 what you should have done was move towards half wall instead of pocket which is a one and done hold which is never good on defense
I feel the pain lol 9-3 on attack half the it went all the way to 13-11 on defense 😅
A similar mid wall has been suggested by vanity before so it can't be that bad
Idk about anyone else but i am absolutely demolishing these former immortal 1 players im currently d2 and I believe I will be Ascendant soon

I was immortal last act, I got placed d3 and got a double rank up right away to ascendant 2. I think there was just way too many boosted people last act, games feel hella easy now
@@alexrios29 I think they are boosted as well I can tell from their movement alone that some of them didn’t put in the work.
i think the missed kill in jett in round 11 was a result of recoil. you missed your first couple shots and corrected, but the tracers were hard to see through the jett smoke and i think they may have landed just above her head.
during the pistol round with the reyna, it looks like she found a timing pushing through her own vipers wall while hugging the right side as your jett unpeeked ready to reload. feels bad :(
Shots 1-5: Clearly missed.
Shots 6-9: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control).
Shots 10-11: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses.
Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because Dragonmar was already dead.

Its the new rank, all of us in higher elo get placed at Ascendant 1 and have to grind our way up. Its the rank above Diamond and below Immortal!

I can't comment on the gameplay, as its above my level, but I do think you're at the level where you PC's performance is having a small impact. I was watching your fps during intense battles with lots of utility and it sometimes goes sub 100fps, with massive 50+ fps swings quickly. At your level having a constant locked 240+ fps with gsync will have a measurable impact on your performance. Either look at reducing some settings, or if money permits, upgrade cpu/mobo/ram to either intel 12th gen or ryzen 5000 series. GPU isnt very important for valorant, your current one is prolly fine.
It feels weird trying to give advice as a low elo player but I play a lot of viper and I wanna share some of my experiences:
-I prefer to use my orbs for the main chokes. They are quite big and the enemy need to go through the entire orb which is massive decay dmg.
- my default defense wall goes either from the B cubby or from B tunnel(basically where you are at 5:09) diagonal. This doesn't allow for elbow control, but you can ensure easier rotations through mid. From tunnel you can even reach ropes from A hall.
- if you attack with pistols try a closer/diagonal wall. This again gives more space to the enemy, but forces them into a range where you might cheese someone with a right click.
- there is also some interesting attack lurk walls but I guess your team can play without any smokes you might just do basic rushes. You can wall through mid to the door in hall. So you can go to double doors without being spotted from nest/B and block vision from halls.
-waiting for the attackers to use vipers pit isn't easy. If you get rushed you are dead. You could maybe try it further back and try to cover the plantable area but you get surrounded rather easy.
-you can also just throw your pit into the enemies pit and try to use the growing pit to push forward.
- you also don't "need" postplant lineups. Just place the orb on the spike, be a bit sneaky and chuck the snake bite on it when time gets close.
unless the enemies outnumber you and time is already in your favor you can play for time just as easy from onside. Don't sacrifice your mates by leaving them.
-Lastly, how well are you with the phantom? If you plan to use your Ult, go for it. The silencer is such a big advantage. And you might play more mid range anyway because of your walls and decay makes the 140 headshot less punishing. And Phantom is a tiny bit more accurate anyway.
With ult I guess phantom makes sense but 1 it's breeze but you should be playing around viper Util anyway 2 with molleys vandals will always 2 shot Boddy where as the phantom won't. Especially on breeze I believe viper vandal is the better choice.
