  • When you're cutting, you're scarring the plants. I know it doesn't hurt them, but with these wounds, we open the way for various pathogens and pests. What can we do about it? The most important thing is to use excellent tools. They're much less destructive, leaving clean wounds. The other option is to disinfect these tools (the saw and scissors) between two trees or two branches. The third thing I want to talk to you about today is wound management. The wound treatment has two recommended means. One is an excellent knife. They call these crooked garden knives, and the other one is some kind of scar tar. Let's not splinter with the name here, whether it's the scar tissue or the gel, whatever it is called the wound treatment material. If we tell them at the farmer's store, they'll be sure to serve us with the right tube. Let's see what last year's wound looks like. It was probably sunny all year round, soaked in the rain, didn't go very well. The biggest problem with this wound is that it's horizontal. It's not the gardener's fault, because most of the jets grow vertically upward, so there's no other option than to cut this jet horizontally. Maybe they could have cut it out a year earlier when it wasn't so strong. Maybe they could've cut it on a branch ring, which is more fashionable these days, and it'll have to be treated again in a year, but it probably wouldn't have been that big, and if it was a stone fruit, I'd advise you to cut it to bits. The stump dries slower, slowing down these pathogens and pests, so there will be less trouble. But what can I really do? I could cut this two - year - old wound around with a knife so it's completely clean, and I could definitely describe it with wood scars. Now let's look at a fresh wound. Now I saw it, it's white, I feel it, it's smooth. Well, that was a very good saw, so there's no big problems behind it, but we're gonna show you that there's still a way to fix that with the mess. This is a piece of the same FELCO Victorinox series. It's extremely light, light metal, but it's a very dangerous tool. We can use something bigger than that. You're gonna have to hold him by the hand anyway. That's what the knife's shaped like, because it's got a very good matt handle, it's extremely sharp, it's very complicated, so I wouldn't comment on that right now. You always have to pull the pickle towards me, it doesn't mean you have to cut it into yourself, you just have to carve it in the direction of the incisor or the man who uses the knife. And if the engraving is completely smooth now, as I've been touching it, then I'm gonna do the lubrication with the wood scarring. To do this, we can use a simple brush, any stick. I hope I helped with the wound treatment. If we look after our trees and bushes, we can give them a longer and healthier life if we treat their wounds so carefully.
