At Vermont St and Olive St, you can make a “super node” by temporarily building a roundabout over the highway, connecting all your road segments into the roundabout, and then carefully deleting ONLY the roundabout. You then end up with a completely joined up multi-road super node.

Want a massive stroad? Make a highway but bi-directional and create turning lane segment presets to easily make good intersections!
Want a one lane each direction median seperated road? Easy. Not to mention throwing in and integrating your transit networks and other infrastructure so seamlessly. Where to put that subway track I wonder… ah yes of course! Side of the road should do.

It also is shows you the buildings that cims came from and going to, and if you click on a building it will show you every path coming to or leaving and again the building at the other end of the path. To connect the nodes that are close together, remove one (likely the one that was to the right when you were talking about it) and place a large roundabout on the other. The roundabout having a larger footprint will allow you to reconnect the other roads while keeping them straight. You can remove the roundabout after to have a larger standard node that can be governed by a single traffic light.

Procedural road creation is something I wanted to see in the base-game for Cities Skylines 2. Massive thanks to the modder who has created this mod as it completely changes road building and allows much greater flexibility and variety. For example, in reality many suburban streets have a sidewalk, berm, parking and a traffic lane in each direction, wheras in base CS:2 you have to choose between parking or a berm. I also saw an Akruas video using the mod in OG Cities Skylines and same level of flexibility added to that game too. I do worry about ongoing support in the medium to long term, as this seems like a mod that would break your save until it is updated after a patch.

Do you have a ploppable surface you could use for that "not green highway gap"? Kinda how we do path covers in Planet Coaster..?

There's a lot to be said around optimising traffic but a specific problem in how you build cities is junctions too close together. The roads above the tunnel are a great example where there's not enough space for vehicles in the short bridge between them so you're limited to two cars through per change of the lights and any numbers above that are forced to queue up at the preceding junction. You can end up with one junction that forces queues at 2-3 others this way.
Cities seems to calculate the fastest route for a journey using road distance and the speed limits involved. The distance part of this applies to pedestrian routes so those long ramps and spirals up to foot bridges for crossings tend not to get used if there's any other way. They add too much extra distance to a journey. Ramps up to pedestrian bridges have to be kept nice and short and preferably up in the direction that the person is going anyway, if you want their usage to be maximised.

At 16:20 there is maybe a solution you aren’t thinking of. Cities skylines 2 you can draw a road on top of another one so you should make a road with an extra wide median go over the highway and then use props to make it look perfect?
