Peter Pan (2003) is the best version of Peter Pan though, so it's such a bummer that when it was finally released that it didn't bode well for people. Also, just would like say Jason hit the entire meaning of Peter Pan so well. It's a coming of age story, for sure.
Some people were upset with Jason saying Hook was a seductive figure for Wendy’s transformation into womanhood. But think about it. Every young girl or boy has had a crush on an adult, which starts off innocent enough. But when they begin puberty, those feelings change into something deeper, which is all part of growing up and they talk about that in the 2003 movie. It’s not to say that Hook reciprocates those feelings because all he cares about is winning the battle and getting his revenge. It’s about what he symbolizes to Wendy, what her new beginning is.
I admit during my prepubescent- teen years I had a few mild crushes on fictional characters who ranged (or at least appeared) to be in their teens-twenties. Though my all real-life crushes were thankfully all close friends around my age group. I think the thing which makes it all iffier is how it's a preteen with a middle-aged man who is old enough to be her father. Though at least this portrayed in the negative light of the whole stranger danger instinct and Wendy eventually choosing the innocence of childhood. Unlike most of those bad Wattpad "romances" teens seemingly like to write these days.
Well, there was much more romantic tension between Wendy and Peter, but I don't think her feeling some atraction to Hook is weird. I think it's also because of her fascination with pirates. Canonically, Neverland appears different to every child, so perhaps the boys see Hook as ugly while Wendy finds him handsome. Hook was just luring her to betray Peter - in a somewhat creepy fashion but it's good that Wendy recognized this as bad.
I just recently watched the 2003 film for the first time. Why were people upset? I thought it was perfectly reasonable for Wendy to have a pubescent crush on an older man. I also don't think Hook would reciprocate those feelings until Wendy had actually matured into a woman. (Rachel Hurd-Wood grew up to be quite beautiful.)
I was literally obsessed with Peter Pan 2003. I put fake trees around my living room and pretended to be the characters from the movie, and I would watch it over and over again. I still frequently watch it. I think it is such a masterpiece. I had no idea it didn't do as well as expected.

I was so excited to see this movie when it was coming out, but I wasn't able to see it theatrically. I then went to Blockbuster with my mom to rent it, but because I was only 7 years old, the person at the counter pointed out the rating and said I was too young for it, so my mom decided not to rent it. I haven't seen the film to this day, and I'm still a little salty about that experience 😂

I was a young student working at a cinema part time when this film came out. When I was done with my shift I went to see it out of curiosity expecting that it might be too childish for me in my late teens at the time and I was so pleasantly surprised by it, it had so many layers to it and it did not talk down to kids. Also the child actors where all perfectly cast, in fact the entire casting was brilliant. I loved it so much that I saw it two more times in the cinema (Well, it was free for me but still.. haha) and to this day I consider it along with the 1993 version of "The Secret Garden" as one of the best children book adaptation. It's a really solid movie ! It is heartbreaking that people did not give it a chance at time of release and I experienced it directly while working at the cinema, the screens where often empty and after I saw it , it made me sad because I just knew how good it was and that people where missing out on a hidden gem because of the per-conceived idea they had about Peter Pan due to the Disney version .

There is something that Jason Isaacs can do for me one day if he is interested because when I look at his face now I see a very extraordinary person that I've grown up with since Harry Potter I remember the first time I saw him on screen was when he played Lucius Malfoy and I thought to myself that he would do well as the Warlock in the remake Warlock where he would make a wonderful Julian Sands successor but then I thought of something else what if fastest Blackwood from chilling Adventures of Sabrina has a brother and she wants to help Sabrina and her friends because unlike his brother he is a person who chooses to serve God by hunting down monsters and I want to use the movies such as Warlock and Van Helsing as The Inspirations towards blackwood's brother unlike his brother he does care about Humanity but he also believes that he can show Mercy towards those that are going through their struggles and the other reason why is because their ancestors were once an ally to the Spellman family during the 12th century when they fought against the son of the devil unfortunately that whole family was plagued as soon as Faustus was born and I'm trying to picture something where Matthew uses his magic to unleash faustus blackwood's greatest fear and his greatest fear is seeing the very ghost of his ancestors drag him down to the underworld and the person in front of those ghosts is Matthew and Sabrina

This is timely and 2003 was only right before things went off the deep end with the ruination of movies and tv. Lucky movie. What is timely is sadly they finally got to Peter Pan again so they can ruin it with lots of race and gender swapping and rewriting of the whole point of the book. Just stealing the name to make another activist movie in 2023 that has almost nothing to do with the original.

The best serious Hook is Jason Isaacs. Best funny Hook is Stanley Tucci. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk, I will not be taking questions. 😎
Anyone get the sense Jason has sat down and read shipper metas about Hook and Wendy from this movie? His talking points sound strangely familiar. Or maybe we just got them all from him and his "super clever answers" in the first place! 😂
It sounds like he's exaggerating about how much people liked it behind the scenes, but it really was that good.
Lucius Malfoy actually like the original but he regretted to be involved of starring as Captain Hook and Wendy's Dad
I really liked how all the main characters are white people only which is of course how JM Barrie imagined it but this should go without saying.
I saw this when I was 13, and let me tell you: I got feels that I’d never felt! 🥲 It’s so true what he said about pubescent-aged girls enjoying this movie! ✨
I was 11 or 12 when I watched the movie back in 2003. (Was born in March)
And I enjoyed the movie! I’m 30 now.
(Btw, did you know that some girls start puberty when they’re under 13? I didn’t. There are some girls that did.)
@@jennikifm2 my daughter is 11 and just started her period she’s been going through puberty since age 10
