    Hempcrete is above-grade and is constantly breathing. Hemp/Lime construction has been used in Europe for almost 30 years and you know how diverse their weather is :)

    Bravo, love this! This is where we need to go with building/construction NOW! Imagine an Adirondack style village of homes approx. 1200 to 1800 sq. feet with windows designed to take in light, high ceilings, and hardwood floors nestled on wooded lots.

    No; apply a lime plaster to a smooth finish or even clay plaster; both with a colour you want

    Great product. Hemp I think stands on it's own without the silly AGW comments as we are over that scare. I think the walls have lovely character a little like Rammed Earth but probably way cheaper and I would suspect better properties. Here is Australia hemp is only just gaining a little attention but hopefully it will gain acceptance once again. As a designer I am looking for something interesting to build with and this looks lovely and economical for great performance.

    Combine it with a plasma multipolymere structure and go up to an ordinary upcycling system!
    It's all on us!

    I'm going with compressed earth blocks. That will allow me to build not only my house. It will allow me to build my shops and labs and well as roadways and walkways and control costs sharply!

    Hi, one suggestion, make your plywood from hemp also and not just the concrete. These homes can be built without wood foundations to stop cutting down trees. They are doing this in other countries also.

    what can be done to as far as finish on the outside-inside? the inside earth finish is nice. can you do that outside? can you apply color in some way?

    When it rains and the walls take in moisture, does that translate to a humid indoors? Also, if you shower while it's raining are the walls taking humidity from the air from both directions? thx.

    Who do i contact for more info on getting a hempcrete house build in Europe? (prices, models and other options)

  • @1timby

    So what happens to the walls when they get soaked for a long period of time? If we condition the air on the inside won't that cause moisture to be driven to the interior of the building? As for green, doesn't the home have a concrete foundation? How about the structure of the home? Isn't it a home constructed using a post and beam style? If so then the frame utilizes a large amount of non carbon neutral material.

    How heavy is it compared to normal concrete? Guessing it will be a lot lighter? Also what would a house like this cost to build?

    • @DianaEstep
      @DianaEstep 10 лет назад +4

      What I have seen in other videos is that it is a LOT lighter but the building costs were about the same as conventional materials but you will make that up in less heating/cooling costs & other factors

    To put this on the market means the hemp house will to have more visual appeal. People don't want a brown exterior/interior that looks to be difficult to clean. When the walls absorb water will it leave a stain? Would grease from a stove stain the walls? I'm imagining a more smooth surface that could be wiped down more easily. Can drywall still be installed over the interior walls? Or, could hemp siding be installed on the outside? Is what we just saw the finished look? I'm just sayin...

    How does this type of wall work with a home that implements an earth berm? We are looking at materials to use in our home and are not sure if hempcrete would be appropriate for exterior walls. It is also worth noting that in our area, the soil has very high concentrations of clay, and basements and sunken homes have lots of troubles with taking on water. If our home is going to be above ground or partially sunken, would a hempcrete wall be better than a poured concrete wall or SIP wall in not taking on water?

    Since hemp is hard to get here in the US could we substitute straw for the hemp?
    Seems to me that the hemp walls aren't structural. So you have to rely on wood for the structure. Could this product be made to build an entire structure from hemp instead of just wall fill?
    Thanks

    Every now and then I come on line to watch and read up on hemp technology and every time it saddens me. So much positive change would come about if we put political bullshit aside. I can only imagine where we would be as a race if we embraced organic solutions from the very beginning. A higher level of consciousness and less human suffering. Man, I sound like a hippie. Thanks for the video, lots of cool info.

    • @jornmulder

      yea, and then rooftiles on or or metal sheets, depends were you live, if you get alot of snow on the roof, make the roof more pointy and metal sheets snow will slide off faster.

  • @1timby

    Hmmmm..... So let me get this right. It allows water to be hyper driven by the sun. Also if the home is built in humid areas of the country, the humidity would be driven into the structure because the humidity of the inside of the house would be lower than the outside. I wouldn't think this is a good thing,
    BTW couldn't we use straw as the medium instead of hemp? Hemp is hard to come by and straw isn't.
    Just my 2 cents .....

    You said the walls take in the humidity until humidity goes down and then releases it. I live in Hawaii. It's always humid. Would hemp not work here? I need a home that is completely resistant to mold. Is this the right material to use?

    • @stevenfarrington5700

      I think a mix could be found that would work for a humid environment. In 1812 Napoleon was going after Russia because they sold industrial hemp to England. If the Ottoman Empire had never existed we could have had the Internet 150 years ago or if the truth about Edison and tesla was known (Edison stole most of his 1093 patents). We are just now venturing back into a new age of information but the governments are going to do everything they can to suppress it.

    should all build with hemp, all new housés and company buildings. all over the world ! less people houses burning down. much saver, and better for your health. and less or zero bill for heating the house. and good against earthquake's if you build the base with hemp.

    His climate change theory is based on absolute shit science, but Hempcrete is an awesome building meteral!

    • @solutus
      @solutus 10 лет назад +2

      It's not "his" theory of climate change, it's the theory of 98% of the scientists who study the problem. Are you assuming there's a vast global conspiracy to lie to the world's people about this topic, a conspiracy involving thousands of scientists, academic journals, journalists, and writers? Is that your view?

    • @nickseay6534
      @nickseay6534 10 лет назад +4

      solutus Of course it's not HIS theory. My use of the possessive word "his" was meant to point out the obvious. He believes it to be true. Scientists throughout history have been consistently wrong. That's just the nature of the beast. Part of the process. Nothing to do with conspiracy, and I never said anything about lies. It looks as though you are the one making the assumptions my friend. Jason made some very valid points, and I agree. The fact that "global warming" has remained, up to this point, a theory in the first place means that it is unproven. I don't care how many scientists want to be correct, facts are facts, and all of the data I have seen leads me to a different conclusion. I could be wrong as well, but I am fairly certain that the "global warming" theory (as it stands) is either trash, or extremely flawed. There are too many variables. You can't just take into account carbon emissions, industrialization, and bovine flatulence etc... then look at the average global temperature and say, "A HA! WE are the cause of this!" It doesn't work that way. Like I said, It's shit science and folks have made TONES of money off that gimmick.

      Remains a theory? Dude, you don't know what a scientific theory is. It does not mean "I think this is the correct answer". Just google it, read it and learn so you won't come off as a scientific illiterate.

Just look up some history about a time known as the "Time of Plenty". During that time the say that CO2 was higher than 4% and this allowed much greater plant growth and reduced starvation greatly!!
