An epic duel between Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson, both were leading the team trying to win this game. Magic maybe not known for his jumpshot but in this game he was on fire, hitting all kinds of crazy shots, scored 31pts and handovered 12ast! Michael on the other hand, just being his usual self, doing all sorts of things in the court, had 42pts, 7reb, 8ast and 4stl! A pretty all round game for him.

I agree. At this time, Magic’s knees were shot.
But in his first 2,3 years he was an unstoppable scorer.
It would have been very interesting to have theses guys play one one one if they could have played each other in their 2nd year as a pro.
Magic would have destroyed Michael one in one!

finally someone brings up his knees. He was playing on the ground at this point in his career and getting by with IQ and his height. His stamina was declining and would defer the ball handling often in the finals that year when pressed by Dumars and Rodman. During the prior years, he can take it easily and still have gas in the tank for the 4th quarter.
Then in 1991 when Pippen pressed him, people think that was the first time it ever happened.

Kung-Fu Mojo - first, they lost Worthy and Scott in Games 4 and 5 so let's stop pretending they had some disadvantage. MJ and the Bulls were terrorists that year in the playoffs and they dominated the Lakers in every game just like everyone else - with and without Big Game James and Byron Scott. The only reason why they lost Game 1 was because MJ's game attempt shot rimmed out. The Triangle destroyed L.A. - all the ball and player movement was something they couldn't handle in 7 game series.
And while Magic was great, he simply was not as good as MJ in too many areas. Jordan's singular greatness is undeniable - even to his peers like Magic.

    • @JC-fe6nx
      @JC-fe6nx 6 лет назад +1

Bulls had a better team, far superior talent that year...But Magic destroyed Jordan that first game...He humiliated him. And everytime Jordan covered Magic it was a for sure basket somewhere..And Jordan being the competitor just kept wanting to KEEP guard Magic and Jackson could see Magic luring Jordan into the trap..This is why Jordan is a little overrated IMO, he had killer instinct but smarter players could use ego against him and manipulate him, like Bird, Pistons etc. Thank God Phil Jackson was the coach and switched Scottie on Magic because if Collins was still the coach Bulls would have still won the series but it would have been alot closer and may have gone 7 games IMO

  • @PeepsDancingFeet

I am not seeing a fast magic decline in my simulations… with magic’s “Lebron” like build, (thick bones, muscle, and almost zero injuries/not as bad as Jordan’s injurie resume) magic prevails to get 1-3 more rings in those simulations…
WHAT ISN’T BEING TALKED ABOUT, is how if magic does not get HIV, magic winning even 1 ring against Jordan causes a (+2, -2) change in the ring count… For example, Magic wining a ring against Jordan causes this (Magic 6, Jordan 5) and if magic steals another MVP (yes! he already took some from Jordan) from The MVP count goes like this (Magic 4, Jordan 4)
Now consider who’s playing style would consistently attract the best free agents: A guy known for passing the ball and generally gets along great with teammates/ or a guy who bunts heads with most and passes the ball much less… Lastly, if magic doesn't get HIV, and with Magic’s assist rate being 11.2 per game/while Stockton is only 10.5…it fair to say that Magic would have more than a 50% chance of being the all-time assist leader…
Magic finally reported the mental and physical fatigue he was facing in the finals, to his doctor… Positive with HIV…only a month after the Jordan beat him… So, Jordan has proven he can beat HIV Magic… And then had no rematch… And so it is, Jordan might say he could beat magic 1on1, you will never find a quote from Jordan saying that he is the better than magic at the team game… Because a Goat know when he saw another Goat… and we all missed out on the drama that could have been!
In conclusion, my simulations also adds to Jordans legacy without his early retirement- and when that happens, the 2 usually end up with equal amounts of rings and MVP’s…(6-8 each)…because even though Jordan doesn’t retire… when he loses just one to magic… Magic leap frogs in a way Jordan can’t do back to Magic-because Magic’s first 5 rings come before Jordan could make it past the bad boys…So Magic can steal from Jordan, but Jordan cant steal from Magic… one being the all-time facilitator through selfishness, the other is the all-time facilitator through unselfishness… and more importantly than who is the goat between these two, is that we all missed out on would be the most beautiful basketball rivalry of all-time… go watch the duals between these two to refresh your memory…
This video above shows what magic was like against Jordan… before he had HIV in those 91’ finals

but you only named two teams, there's only a few left, and if teams keep making bomb squads, there's gonna be even fewer. Tbh the wins between the warriors and cavs doesn't even matter as much when considering the Lebron and KD match up bc the players around those two superstars are also superstars.

C'mon people... it is so obvious that Michael Jordan was the greatest ever. Only two people in NBA history have averaged 30 points a game for a career. Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan. Wilt played as a man amongst boys and played close to the basket, Michael played the 2 spot at 6'6". buff said. Oh by the way... Jordan was also one of the greatest defenders ever as well.

Jordan and Magic were great, the 2nd and 3rd best I’ve ever seen since I started watching the NBA in 1979 but the greatest I’ve ever seen is Kareem Abdul Jabbar. The best teams I’ve ever seen were all in the 80s - ‘87 and ‘85 Lakers, ‘86 Celtics and ‘83 76ers. I haven’t seen any teams as good since then.

If you had started in 1970 it's tenable but if you started in 1979 , you only saw him in his real prime roughly for 2-3 years . Personally had I been in your shoes having seen from 1979 My top 5 would be
      Jordan
      Bird
      Magic
      Kareem
      Lebron
