yeah, I guess it’s about time we are nearing our extinction, and while it may seem like decades are long for us, on the grand scheme of things it’s really quick, especially considering this goes by millions of years, and it’s been 55 million years ever since mammals became the dominant species, so perhaps a new era will occur in the future
The level of detail of including the moon and actually changing how it looks over time, like how it had lava in the hadean period, and how big it is is amazing
At covid times I was still very young, I used to watch this, I would watch this all day at that time. It brings me memories. It just shows how curious I was about the mysteries that mostly never been solved.
If anyone tries to tell you that the planet was made for us to live in, remind them that it took multiple deadly planet-wide extinction events. Life found a way, and it wasn't necessarily thanks to a benevolent planet. The persistence of life, and the fact that we are here studying it, is something that should humble.
I wish more people could see videos like this, truly an amazing experience to see how much we've learned about Earth in such a short time. So the Earth went through 9 mass extinctions. Two of them were unknown causes, one ice house event, one green house event, one asteroid impact, the great dying, one snowball Earth and an oxynegation event

It's a little awkward to show the asteroid impact at 67 M years ago and the K-Pg extinction at 66. The extinction event happened immediately after the impact, not one million years later.
Maybe the results of the impact were still ongoing even after 1 mln years 🤔 Or the impact happened right before the timeline went into the 66 mya, Something like 67000032 years ago to 66999871 years ago, lol

Well it was a hard decision. A piece of work like this is deceptively complex - with numerous data points to be included. Over a period of time I became aware the original video contained a number of omissions and errors. I thought it was important to provide an update and correct these but RUclips does not work like that - you cannot simply update a posted video - you have to start again and repost. As I say it was a difficult decision as the original video was receiving heavy traffic - but I thought it had to be done.
I have made all earlier versions private as I read that was the best protocol for updating RUclips videos. Making a video private means that no one can see it but the RUclips algorithms still recognise the accrued views and data. That’s my understanding anyway.
To clarify that a bit further: Earlier views of previous versions are not counted with regards to any new video upload. You basically start from scratch. The private numbers are only regarded as part of your overall channel performance.
