Nice review, and you clearly outlined (almost all) the pros and cons. On the pros side: the sequencer is good for semi-generative stuff (step lengths, different track lengths, probability, pattern randomization,...), "noise" track can be used as a polyphonic track with a good synth sample; on the cons: the overlap on the same knob of commonly used functions for sound design is extremely annoying (you're forced to use shift continuously and use catch value mode).
A good honest review, I might have missed it but I don't think you mentioned that it also is a sampler. Really it exceeds its function as a drone machine, for a playable polyphonic synth with a four-track synthesizer, effects processing and sampling, it's a lot for the money.
Thank you for the insightful review and it seems like i hear in between the line what im worried the most about it, that first it would be very funny and fascinating to dive into it, learn everything only to realise it starts to feel bit boring and not really satisfying the ears 😅😊 still a nice box but with my tight budget i guess i dont fall for the i need this feeling
Reasonable people can disagree. I think this is a great synthesizer for the price, considering its feature set. I don't think it is boring. I think the demo you made from it at the end is. It's a synthesizer. It synthesizes. It's a blank slab waiting for someone to give it context. If you can't give it context, is it the synthesizer's fault or you as the musician? I'm not trying to make it personal. It's a tool. A somewhat focused tool, but a tool. A blank canvas waiting to be painted on. It's not a tool you made something interesting with but because your creation is uninspiring doesn't demish the function of the tool. Actually, I think you make some good stuff. You just didn't make it on this device. I don't blame the device.
I understand your point of view. Of course you can do great music with almost any decent device. The point I was trying to explain is that the tool has to be inspiring for your own taste and workflow.
Calling the fourth track "noise track" (Sonicware choice) is a little bit misleading, you can load up to 8 complex synth samples (8secs stereo) and use it as a standard polyphonic track (with envelope, filters, modulation,...)
it's beautiful😲I need to find me a friend like Sunny!
Everybody needs a Sunny :)

Good point!

Right I didn't mention the sampling. Even though it's not really sampling, more like importing your own sounds. I haven't tested that feature yet.
It's capable of more than just ambient music.
Of course. I just focused on it's main target. Explore different approaches would require a whole new video, but it's right to mention it.

More or less those are my thoughts too. Only time will tell!
@ElectroMagnetic_AmbientMusic will be interested to hear your opinion after some time

That's a personal thing, not device specific.
@@matthewgaines10 well, that ' s exactly what I meant. I tried to underline the strong and weak sides according to my own taste and workflow.

I haven't really had time to explore that function. Thanks for the clarification.
There's hype around this?
Well, in the context of the niche of course. It's sold out.
