Ayo? Ricksdetrix in MY comment section? I've been watching your channel for almost as long as I've been playing zomboid and it was one of the things that inspired me to make my own! 🙌❤
I remember playing the Studio challenge one time when I was newer to PZ. I spawned in as a police officer and looked around, cautiously. Eventually, I made my way to a nearby building, and started looking around. I opened a door in the building I was in, and I nearly got killed by a sprinter. "Huh" I thought to myself. "Why was that zombie sprinting? Is random zombies on or something?" Then I noticed several more zombies sprinting towards me. I killed those ones as they trickled in. Then more sprinters came in. That's when I realized day sprinters were on. *Then I died.*
Afaik on YHOD: The Zed count that spawns is MASSIVE, easily enough to make even the beefiest PCs with the best possible RAM and CPUs chug significantly, and perhaps only with the sheer number of Pathfindings the zeds will create ANYTIME you move a tile. There's reasons why the way to survive the longest with NOTHING happening to stop slash end the run is to pick one of the Apartment building, stock on seeds, Sacks with Dirt and Gardening tools, minmax for carpentry, then make a living space in the roof with a Garden, and subsist miserably exclusively off of Veggies (A diet that is sure to Kill you IRL if somehow a PZ esque Zombie Apocalypse happens).
you know that lil blank area thats on the other side of the ohio river? >pick carpenter >spawn in west point >find a axe and hammer >start building floors over the ohio river >after youre at the blank area, dissasemble the last floor so you are unaccessible
Well, you can always try trapping birds for some meat! You would just need to build a platform far off to the side because you need to be over 70 (or 75) tiles away to catch anything.
I've been playing a ton of Kingsmouth Island lately, it's pretty fun to play a map where there isn't a new building to loot around every corner and I have to pinch every nail I have. The lighthouse on the northeast corner is actual peak, put a wall up near it and you have a giant peninsula to farm and fish in safely.
I love the RUclips Android app. I love when it duplicates comments. I love when the keyboard has been broken for years and they STILL haven't fixed it. So much fun.
In Kingsmouth you must have missed the thousands of zombies in the resort... It's incredibly silly. And the lack of melee weapons, but if you make it to the military base... I found well over a hundred boxes of shells and that's just all the ammo I could carry, there was so much more. Great challenge for the gun enthusiats or for those that want to clear an incredibly densely populated area.
A really CDDA is my fav challenge in PZ rn. When you finally get a good start it's such a serotonin boost. Loot as much food and clothes as possible from your burning house & the nearest neighbor and gtfo to the north farmhouse asap. After that's it's just the matter of surviving the winter and not making stupid decisions. Good video brother
Ambiguous Amphibian did a video where he not only used this start, but also had all the negative traits. I can't imagine surviving for long with such a start any other way, but this dude lasted the whole winter and went on to start leveling the character after that.
CDDA stands for Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead. Zomboid is basically a real time, zombie apocalypse focussed version of that game. There is a challenge scenario in CDDA called "a really bad day".
I have about 400 hours in Kingsmouth. Studio freaked me out but it has potential. I couldn't figure out what the other challenges are based on the short descriptions.
I didn't know about last stand accumulator, seems very fun, thank you for sharing this (and it's completely not my fault for not checking the game i have)
there should of been a challange just named: Modren & Normal. where zombies dont exist. replaced with AI people walkin around the only thing is survive actual killers or smth
Holy shit the cat screaming and going flying caught me off guard LMAO. Edit: Yes, making bases out of locations that look like they'd have the best potential to do something insane with would be really cool.
i actually used to play last stand accumulator a fuckton when i was learning how combat works. 1k in-game hours later i still hop on once in a while actually, it's kinda fun to just mow down the endless hordes sometimes. i dig the autismo editing btw
Accumulator is fun though it has an issue with the shotgun in that you can kill more zombies per shot than what it costs to buy ammo meaning an essentially infinite supply of shotgun ammo negating melee weapons entirely. Would still like to see how they flesh it out if they get the time. P.S. good music choices
you dont need to use the walk thing you did to cheese run, if you just hold shift and then repeatedly press a directional movement key it will play the running animation from the start giving you a LOT more control over your movement
@2:22 Imagine if the rain caused some sort of other hazard, like flooding, or even houses becoming moldy from being damp 24/7??? I'm not sure, Flooding would be super cool, but with the Isometric view.. idk.
The trick to a cd da is to instantly bangage the leg and purposefully attract zombies to kill them with fire after like 10 minutes of this you can then start the norm survival loop
Kingsmouth and Studio are pretty fun overall to me. Kingsmouth has an absolute metric fuckton in the mility air-base up north. And a very easily defendable base down south. Studio, while I don't particularly like the map. I find the zombies alot of fun as they're slow shamblers during the night, but turn into sprinters during the day.
Last stand acumulator best thing is that you are probably suriving in the first map and first building you ever played in project zomboid. Why?, because its the same house where the tutorial starts. This is where it all started.
I'm pretty sure in studio the zombies are supposed to be sprinters at night. You waited until it was day time so you missed it. Unless the sprinters are random and I just got unlucky every time I played in the studio challenge.
I haven’t played it myself, but based on looking at the map, I just assumed the location for “Studio” was supposed to be like a movie studio backlot…? (ie a handful of soundstages interspersed with support/admin buildings, restaurants, and offices, all surrounded by a security perimeter)
Kingsmouth was abysmal with number of zed hordes, beware of vacation main resort it is a jack-in-the-box shenanigans Studio... well I taught it might be easy until around 7-8 in morning in-game hours night of the living dead zeds, turns into 28 days later runners Last Stand was something out of memorable flash-game called "The last stand" but it has points purchase system, problem is that you don't have time to setup defenses despite giving yourself a sporting chance CD:DA was personally the most brutal challenge, no electricity, running water and most of loot is ultra scarce, not to mention you GOT a glass shard in your groin whilst got cold and inebriated at same time! Edit: I forgot to mention Call of Duty's zombie horde mode
Kingsmouth is legit so fun but i go in with a cheat mod to just mess around. Never really played it seriously Play it at 2.5 with gathering storm horde mod for some real nutty situations
And who told you no one plays these? I actually love the storm is coming, as someone who likes survival out of the city, endless rain water. And kingsmouth is cool too.
If you are a bit bored with standard gameplay the CDDA challenge is the best challenge. Also, trying for longterm survival and using the helicopter extraction mod make it very hard. You can even up the difficulty even more by using the CDDA Zombies mod which will give you a mix of different types of Zs (sprinters, grabbers, wrestlers, decayed, skeletons l, etc). Also a 0 out of 10 for the Studio seems a bit harsh. Complain about the Zs being standard, then criticize for having sprinters?? Man up and fight! Using mods to up the difficulty is one of the things that keeps me playing PZ. If it was just shamblers all of the time I probably would have stopped years ago.

The scariest challenge so far according to this video is Studio. Like they are slow shamblers but all of a sudden one of them is running? Hell no.
Studio is alot of fun!
During the night, the zombies are slow shamblers. But during the day. They begin to speed up until they start to sprint.
