I promise I will get more rest before the next reaction 🙏 Hope you all still enjoy it either way, make sure to check out the original songs if you haven't already.
❤Here is another Ren reaction I have done ruclips.net/video/gdL2ISbMPsE/видео.html
If you have the means to do so please consider check out our www.patreon.com/dicodec our first single is up over there already.
Always appreciate your openness with your struggles - eyes forwards, one foot in front of the other and not beating yourself up: plodding is sometimes very productive. Love your unique take on breaking down tracks 🌻
Even though your pain and struggles have come into your life differently than Rens, that doesn’t make it any less valid. I’m glad you have chosen to get better don’t give up just as Ren has said keep searching for that hope. Always enjoy your breakdowns of the production. Thank you. ❤❤❤
Ramble away. You're very passionate and much more articulate than you give yourself credit for. It takes so much strength to face your demons, and alcohol is a bitch.
As someone who has major brain damage I totally relate to your awe at how he copes. When I found Ren I found inspiration, and I've worked hard and my mind has kept healing and neurogenesis is going strong. When doctors told me I had hit a plateau in my recovery I refused to believe it, and Ren inspires me to continue to make breakthroughs. Keep the faith. Thanks for the fantastic reaction!
Hang on in there young man. You are doing amazingly. It is one of the hardest things to do. Coming off of an alcohol addiction is sheer hell. I am married to a recovering alcoholic. It is coming up to twenty years since he went through the detox bit. He was to!d that if he didn't come off it be would be dead within the year. So he did. Get the detox nearly killed him. He was allergic to the medication. He is still very ill but he is still here, bless him. We are in our seventies now. You are still young and will see it through. It is a hard road you are on but you will get there. I have every faith in the fact that you will kick the need eventually. Bless you, I hope to see you and your reactions reactions for a very long time. You are one of the best xxxxx
Hey buddy, what's important is not who you were, but who you are today. STAY STRONG
I’m so happy to see you do Ren again and I truly hope YOU are doing well. Yes, Ren is amazing and I think you are, too. Hang in there.
'Troubles', turning the sample into a synth. It is a reel under renmakesmusic. You might enjoy it.
You think you’re ready for Ren but you never are. He’s lived so much…so hard and so deep for a person his age. Hard to not be affected.
The original is the 1937 song by Vera Hall. She sang the song acpello. Moby sampled it 1st in "Natural Blues. released in 2000. Both Moby and Ren's productions are completely different.
Ahh yes I remember the Moby version
The production breakdown we’ve all been waiting for 🙌 thank you so much Alan 🫶 (You held it together well for someone running on no sleep. Crazy what Ren does to us. Wishing you well and looking forward to your acoustic drop ❤)
I appreciate you telling your story. Addiction is a disease of the brain. just like depression. It might start out as some kind of "choice" (usually triggered by desperation or trauma) but quickly becomes a disease. And the vulnerability for addiction is genetic, so it's not as easy as "just saying no". Of course it's not. With an overly active brain too, like when you have adhd, it's even easier to get stuck in addiction. Don't beat yourself up
Ren reaction comments are the best, I feel like I have found so many like-minded people who enjoy GREAT ARTISTRY.
I love how honest your reactions are. If it hits, you show it, that is so brave. Sending hugest digital hugs 💜💜💜💜💜💜
Thank you so much 🤗
That wasn't his voice. It was the Vera Hall sample manipulated.
He has a video of him making it.
yes, i have also see a short where he shows what he have done with Veras sample. But Ren do it a lot to use voice (usualy his own) and make some effects out of it.
Ren's illness isn't just mental. He also suffered greatly with Lyme disease, which can, and, for him, was, completely debilitating. Thanks for your reaction!!! I enjoy your breakdowns of songs!
Im sorry I didn’t mean to make it seem like it was just that. I watched back and I explain myself poorly. I meant that the disease created bigger problems mentally also
Well, in his case, thank goodness for his life and for anyone with good taste in music and new musical cinema, he wasn't COMPLETELY debilitated. 😊
Thanks for the reaction, it's great to have your insight into the production. I'm a fairly long-time subscriber to your channel and I'm familiar with what you've told us over the last 16 months or so. I hate to see how hard some of Ren''s lyrics hit you. It's not my place to say, but I think you're too hard on yourself. Your own challenges have been mountainous and I hope when you're not as tired, that you see how far you have come, and celebrate your successes. I lost my own brother, his addictions did so much damage to his body when he was young, that even years after he cleaned himself up, his body couldn't repair everything. He died in his 40s. I'm in awe at your strength. I wish for you peace.
Agree❤
Ren gets us in the feels every time. And we can each take away a personal meaning from his lyrics.
Great illustration of the panning and also pulling out the guitar and noticing the distorted vocal sample turned into beat.
He was misdiagnosed and the stem cell treatment was the first time during all those years that the Lyme disease was finally being addressed. He was treated and medicated for whatever mental condition they decided he had this month. Meanwhile the Lyme disease was free to run rampant through his body crippling him. At one point his body was rejecting food and he only was able to have broth.
🙏 Thank you so much for this double reaction! And you may say you need sleep, but I think it's still very impressive how well you're able to articulate the technical breakdown. Like calling out the vocal sample with distortion and delay - without having seen the BTS on Ren's channel, you knew it was a voice with an effect on it. Not only do I learn a lot from your reactions about the production, but I genuinely appreciate your vulnerability. You are not alone, Mr. Virtual hugs. 🤗 ❤
❤❤❤❤❤ i saw that same post he wrote and i was so impressed with what he had to say, his reasoning and rstional thought put down , so much better than so many people who are too happy open their mouth, including the person demanding a response from him in the first place .
Such a wonderful song, and i love your breakdowns.
Take care of yourself, friend.
I agree. He is an excellent writer. I read that post you mentioned.
Guilt is a heavy burden. You’re doing so much better and I’m sure you’d be the first to forgive someone else, so forgive yourself❤️ Also, love your reactions!🤗
People who haven’t taken the hard fall of addiction don’t understand how traumatic that experience is. You’re talking about it, and that’s good…it’s hard to do, but it’s good for you.
I ran away from home (I was 17) and lived in my car while I put things back together. I told no one anything until I met my husband and decided that he deserved to know what he was getting into.
Addiction changes you but it’s not ALL bad. Going forward, you won’t be rocked so hard in times of crises. Crashing like you did, while still so young, you’ve got some solid training on how to hold on. You know how, Alan.
You got this.
Such an incredible song, both versions! Ren shared a video of how he used the original sample (by Vera Hall) and turned it into the synth in the original song. Very cool to see what goes into producing music, for those of us who have no experience with it 💜💜
Hey man, great to see you back to breaking Ren's stuff down for us! I am a bit over reaction vids (went a bit crazy when I discovered Ren) but I always enjoy and learn from yours more than most. Also, just sending you respect and love for you in your personal stuff! Stay strong
I think the greatest thing about REN is he gets people talking and sharing those vulnerable feelings when we get stuck in our headspace. I'm excited to see what you have going.
I'm sober & suffer from fibromyalgia/mental health. Desperation is universal. Addicts usually suffer from mental illness. That's why the drug is so necessary...to escape the hell. Saying you chose to harm yourself isn't true. It's a disease used by the dis-ease of something else. Congrats on your sobriety! It will get easier💜💜💜
Welcome back, always look forward to your reactions. And always impressed with your life journey and your generously sharing your emotions.
love this double reaction so we can see both sides! hugs all around man
Yay! Love your reactions and breakdowns of the production. You’re awesome. Thanks for sharing part of your story as well. You have done so well…wishing you all good things from life ❤
His acoustic versions are always so powerful.
Like you I wanted to see Ren play THAT lick in his live version. What we got is a wonderful acoustic version with a load of licks but THAT one. Cheeky little bugger...lol
And self inflicted pain is pain nonetheless...Sun Tzu...probably.
The sample is from the 40’s by a woman named Vera Hall, and you’re right, Eminem sampled it too. Great reaction. Really love what you do. 😊🙏😊
Awesome. I love your reactions
8 days leading up to this he did a daily release speaking about his life called Missing you learn a lot.
The example of panning so clear in my headphones
Always an interesting angle that few others explore
Thank you for watching! I love talking about it
Hey man, fellow sober alcoholic. We made choices that hurt us and our loved ones, and we own that, but it's also important to remember that addiction is a disease, too. There's a hard to find middle road between holding ourselves accountable for our actions and also recognising the neurochemical illness that comes from and with addiction. It's a tough balance to strike, but I believe it's important because we have to have some grace and forgiveness for ourselves, too. Take care, y'all ❤
Think he is using the actual sample to do the bubble effect. He did a short to explain.
I love ur breakdowns so much. Thank u for doing both versions! Appreciate u my friend xx
Mad props for your journey with addiction bud. "Self-inflicted" or not, it is a worthy thing you've done getting better from that. Take each day as it comes man. You got this.
Thank you for your service! Your worthy of living and being loved. ❤🙏
I love your analysis! Yes, Ron is an inspiration for us all. Thank you.
Hey Alan, your story helps me bro, I drink a bottle of whisky everyday, I’ve tried soooo many times to stop, I feel like I’m just waiting for an accident to happen at work or some bad news from a Dr to be the catalyst for me to actually change…
Hang in there Alan, your words are wise, there must be many many of us out here that need your example to make the difference….
🙏
Respect to you man
Take care
Daz
Thank you for reacting to Ren. Recovering is hard, not matter what it is. Keep moving forward.
I always love your reactions. I hope you stay strong in your own battle with the demons. Ren struggles with his mental state, but has said he is actually very happy with life now. His physical ailments persist, and he would like nothing so much as to recover from his autoimmune conditions. It is so admirable that he does what he can to raise awareness of these illnesses. That’s why this Vera Hall sample meant so much to him, and has been consistently present in his repertoire.
Don't ever compare your pain to someone else's. To you, the addiction was as bad as lyme's was for Ren, or my 5 failed spine surgeries were to me. Pain is always relevant. Also, as an addict myself. That is also a disease. We may have the ability to take or not take, that 1st drink or pill or shot, but everything after this is a culmination of the disease process. ❤ Great reaction ❤ Thank you and hang in there ❣️
There was a reel or short or smth about how he produced the part you thought was done with his voice. It was actually sampled from original song so it’s the original singers voice singing the chorus sent through a fabolous soup of effects
You're looking great, Allan! Always appreciate your breakdowns, perspective and keeping it real with your own experiences. ❤
The Chapters he did on his Renmakesstuff channel are worth watching to show how outstanding his writing is.💕👍🦇
I wish you all the best on your journey of recovery and hope that Ren's story always gives you the strength you need to keep moving forward. Please don't give up; I had a good friend who succumbed to his alcohol addiction in his mid 30's
Sending love. ❤ You always help me hear new things in Ren's songs.
You're doing so well on your own journey, too. I know that accountability is important, but please be kind to yourself. Addiction and the problems that follow isn't any less worthy for being "self inflicted". You are as deserving of love, support, and empathy as someone with a chronic illness that came out of the blue. (I've been ill every day for over 25 years. It's taken almost everything from me. But you know better than most people how it feels to try and keep a gentle heart in a hard world.) Your struggles are as valid as mine, and Ren's. And you deserve your recovery just like he does. I hope the VA doctor is the key to helping things improve.
Kai (who filmed the acoustic) put a BTS on Patreon of the acoustic filming, and Ren had to hold the mic stand steady with his feet as they couldn't get it wedged in, and had a laptop in the footwell too.
Original Troubles So Hard was Vera Hall in 1937, one other sample I am aware of was by Moby
I appreciate your candidness about your struggles bro. I’ve been there too with the self induced torment and sabotage to my own physical n mental. I’ve mostly come out the other end- and you will too. Stay strong my brother. Great reaction. Music is my lifeblood and I can tell it’s yours too. You got this
I learned so much from this reaction that touches me, and only some of it is about Ren. Please keep on fighting. We need you.
I feel your pain. The pain Ren felt not having reasons, is the other side of your coin, where you can blame yourself for so much! Ren forgave God. Maybe you could forgive yourself. Everyone's just trying to do better. Hugs. ❤
Here for it all! I love your breakdowns. I think a few people have mentioned the voice sample turned into a rhythmic effect is actually from the Vera Hall original. There's a "story" on IG and here where Ren shows how he came up with it.
You do understand that all the illnesses he mentioned (and is suffering from) are not mental illness? In fact many people suffering from these get told that it is all in their head, then given medication for mental illness, which then messes them up even more (same as for Ren). He was in extreme physical pain (and still have some of that still happening today)
Yes I’m sorry I didn’t explain myself well. But it lead to it messing up his brain, is what I was referring too
Always appreciate your great breakdowns on the production side of things. Also appreciate how you allow us into how you feel the music/lyrics. Thank you! ☮
PS: no matter how hard we try to hold it in, Ren can pull that emotion out of us, by sharing his own vulnerable, authentic self. It's a good thing. 💜
Excellent breakdown of this song! This is my first time visiting your channel and I’m enjoying the technical points you draw attention to . Thank you!
I used alcohol to silence the negative emotions that I didn’t want to experience or deal with that are associated with other issues I have. For me, the drinking was just a symptom of what was going on with me that I either didn’t know about, or couldn’t face up to. Initially it was a respite from myself and my problems, but of course it became a problem in itself and ended up making things a hundred times worse.
It is not something I want to make excuses for and I wish that hadn’t gone down that particular path, but at the time I desperately wanted to escape from myself and my feelings for a short time, which isn’t admirable, but is a very human response, I suppose. I could pile on the guilt and the shame for my past behaviour, but a sense of self-preservation and self-knowledge are more likely to keep my on the “right path” than wallowing in it and constantly reproaching myself for past actions that I can’t change. Besides I need all my energy to cope with all that life will inevitably throw at me, and I have none to spare.
Stay strong my friend! ❤
❤
I enjoy your reactions on Ren songs. But much more though yours eyes and emotions .
Loved this reaction. Great breakdown of the way Ren has created this, I appreciate how you do this - I know virtually nothing about creating effects on tracks, so it's always an education!🙏 p.s addiction is an illness, so don't beat yourself up for succumbing to it and well done for how far you've come.
Beautiful reaction to a beautiful song, both versions. I like how you breakdown the production process. I have a lot of your Ren reaction and they hit home cuz of our own struggles too. Stay safe young man. Keep on going. Peace out.
Great break down I love that tune
Thank you for your breakdown! Great video, as always with your Ren reactions! How are you doing these days btw.?
Welcome back, good to see you doing your ace dissections for us again- and in particular that you've come back & given us a Double-Header with Ren😄
Love your breakedowns ❤! After watching, I am able to enjoy the songs in another level. Liked your description of "spilling over" the first verse - that part of the song just melts my heart.
We're only human and drug addiction is so so often a disease of environment, social pressure and a lack of guidance, not personal selfishness and voluntary destructiveness. It's okay to count yourself a hero and a survivor ❤
Great reaction 😊 I think you would appreciate viewing the chapters on his life he wrote, released on his other channel, renmakesstuff. Not necessarily to react and release a video, but wouldn’t hate that either lol.
Love love love this!!!!!!
Love your breakdowns of REN’s awesome art! You are extremely talented as well Allen, I appreciate and always look forward to your analysis 🥰. Please share what you come up with musically!
Awesome! Thank you!
Yes it has been sampled before.
Wonderful reaction, nice to hear some production discussion
Love hearing the isolation of sounds! 💜💜💜
You are too hard on yourself. You are worthy of love and compassion and forgiveness. It’s good to give it to others. It’s more important to give it to yourself. Be easy on yourself. Deciding to walk through the fear takes a lot of courage and is the only way to make it through to the other side. Many can’t or don’t.
Much love from the UK fella 💪🧡
Great reaction bro, thanks for always being so honest with your story too, not always easy to do.. but i always see it as a win win.. for someone out there who just needs those words of encouragement, but also surly for you... must feel theraputic just to get those words out there.
Keep strong 💪
Good for you man keep staying strong
Was waiting for this breakdown! Great to see you back my man
Enjoying this more each time i see it❤
🤗💕
Please look up Dr Gabor Mate's work on addiction. It may help you with the self blame and guilt... Something he says is don't ask why the addiction, ask why the pain (as the source and cause of the addiction). Be kind to yourself you beautiful soul.
Thanks love your reactions.❤
As always, love the break down. Thank you ❤
❤❤
Love your reactions
Love your analysis/breakdown
Love your work and understanding💕👍🦇
17:10 Guilt and shame will prevent you from restoring your self worth and self respect. Why are you so critical of yourself? So self judging ? You’ve got to forgive yourself. Full self forgiveness, as if you were forgiving a loved one for their wrongdoings. You need to acknowledge on an emotional level that your wrongdoings do not make you a bad person. We were all born as innocent children who were loved and who felt love for ourselves. We can regain that through self forgiveness. Let those negative feelings about yourself go and forgive yourself for your wrongdoings and for being a victim of shame and guilt.
Once you no longer hate yourself for your mistakes you can restore your self worth and self respect. And from there you can choose to make better decisions with full acceptance and self love for who you are, including your flaws. Without guilt and shame holding you back you can allow yourself the permission to feel positive about yourself again. Just as we all did as children. Without guilt and shame holding you back you can create your own joy, happiness and contentment from the inside in the present moment. With a full understanding, acceptance and love for who you are.
It all starts with self forgiveness
Moby done that song, and he too got it from some one else . 1950 an American went round the USA taping old black gospel songs from unknown people, Moby somehow heard the recordings and done his version. Must have been around 1992'ish

You sir, need to be kinder to yourself. Alcoholism is a disease, yes you have some control at the start to prevent yourself going down that path, but if you are already in a bad place mentally at the start of that path, then you don't have the ability to escape. Remember - people who end up going down the alcoholism path, do so because their brain is predisposed to addictive tendancies, I'm sure that in order to beat the alcoholism you have a new addiction (not necessarily a destructive one, just a new habit, which you do more than other people might). Feel free to tell yourself off, that's fine, but you need to forgive yourself (as Ren would say), so that you can heal. Promise me you'll learn to be kinder to yourself. ❤️
