Thanks for this review. It's convinced me to buy it.. I think, but note for future reviews, you need to be aware of the type of microphone you are using to know how to properly attach it for the best results. In both instances indoor and out you had the mic incorrectly attached. It's obviously a Uni-directional mic meaning it captures in a cone shape starting at the receiving point to focus on one sound source, odd choice for a lav as most capture in a heart shape (omni-directional) and unidirectional mics are specifically for out door use? But I digress. You need the mic to be aimed in the direction of the source of the sound.. this means center mass and as close to your voice box/mouth as possible for the best clarity. Where you had it in the first test shot was outside of it's receiving range (cheap mics need help) and the second shot was pointed away from your mouth toward your shoulder. BUT when your mouth WAS in the proper position to where you attached it, it seems to have good performance for $50. So again, thanks!
Thank you for your input, and yes we agree it's uni-directional so the top is where the sound is being sources into however for a lot of lavs we will actually have the mic pointing downward because it eliminates the hard "P" pops that people can make. Sometimes when it's too close you can get those pops which is annoying to fix in post. Just about all our speaker videos we will mic them like that- ruclips.net/video/D6sYcitOPA4/видео.html For quiet speaking people, upward and as close as possible is key. Hope you enjoy the mic and would love to know what you record with it! :)
Thanks for the review. It’s a huge advantage for me. Doing what I do I get separated from the camera way too far to be tethered. I tried my normal Bluetooth headset that works great with my phone but it sounds terrible with my video app. My headset does a good job of noise reduction but that seems to create a conflict with RUclips, meaning it sounds better before I upload it.
I bought this after watching YOUR video. I plug it into my now extinct Huawei phone that used to be free on Straighttalk so that I can make RUclips videos (I'm a hypnotist in Bakersfield, CA but born and raised in L.A. just 120 miles south). I walked around my house and the recording was loud and perfect. Good, because on stage, I'll never be more than half that distance away. I also bought a boom box with a 1/4" jack for MIC's and this mic is also a PA system: "Come on over and experience hypnosis!" The future problem will be the wire on the mic is real thin, and I end up breaking things, so I expect to upgrade one day. By the way, I'm thinking ANY lavaliere mic that plugs into a 2.4G transmitter should work with this receiver. So then you'll just buy additional plug in mics and not the receiver each time. I'm just saying.
Happy to hear it's working well for you! If you are going to change or upgrade the microphone you do need to make sure that your microphone can sync up to the receiver, that may be the issue when switching that part of the system however I have never tested it out myself. Please share how it goes if you do switch the microphone.
It look like you had the mic pointed down I think when you wear a lapel mics you're supposed to have it pointed towards you, and it should have gave you a little better sound.
I have this product and am very pleased with it. My question is how to add a second mic to this system. I'm using it with a stand alone PA system for business presentations. thank you.
You'll want to get a 2nd microphone and then get a y cable adaptor to be able to plug in both receivers into the same audio input. You can find the adaptor under "cords and accessories" and it's the first product listed- financialpotion.com/video-equipment-recommended/
I currently use the Kimafun G130 and has worked very well so far. I’m to the point I need two mics for interviews. Can two of them operate at the same time with little to no interference?
Yes they work very well together. You'll just want to get a Y cable splitter. It's the first item listed on our equipment recommendation page under "cords & small accessories" at the bottom of the page - financialpotion.com/videoequipment/
6:51 That's a good point about not being able to monitor it while recording. That's a big deal, unless you figured something out, or tested another adapter that allowed it to work(?).
Yes I do wish you could replace the microphone as well as I know even with our more expensive lav mics we have had to replace the microphone, however these have been working well and I always suggest a wireless mic over a wired mic. A wired mic would be fine if you're always going to be stationary doing videos at a desk or something.
Thanks for the demonstration video, it is awesome and well presented. The problem I heard was inconsistent volume when you were outside. What may be the cause if you exclude blowing wind?
Whenever you record in open spaces it's always going to sound different than recording in smaller tight spaces. For the most consistent and dense sound you want to record in a smaller carpeted room or a room with sound proofing on the walls. Does that answer your question?
Hey! I was considering to get this mic for months. I currently I have an iPhone XS, I make tons of video with that, and I have a question. Are you using a special video recording app (like filmic pro, ProMovie) to have the mic audio synced to a video footage, or are you using the regular built in camera app?
Good review! Just ordered this wireless microphone,I just wish the microphone was detachable and able to be unplugged incase is went bad and wanted to replace it. I cant wait to get it shipped :)
Yes that would be a nice addition. That's how more expensive wireless mics are made, however for the cost of this set it's been working out great for short phone/ computer videos and live streams. Hope you enjoy the microphone! What kind of videos are you going to be recording?
Still you are using this mic? Is it working perfectly ? I want to buy it please tell me Does not it cover the flip screen of camera when its transmitter inserted into it? Please reply
I personally use a sennheiser AVX when recording and when I record clients ruclips.net/video/lHB4qa97-2E/видео.html however I have used the KimaFun and so have many of my clients. On my computer I actually use the Kimafun wired in microphone and have never had any issues. What kind of phone are you using it with?
Love your video-thank you! I want a wireless mic for teaching on zoom. Can you tell me, if i plug the USB into my computer, will i be able to hear my students through the computer audio if they want to ask questions?:
A very late reply and I'm not a pro, but from past experience I have not been able to hear my computer except the occasional quiet keyboard tapping from my own recordings. I would also recommend wearing a pair of earbuds, if not, I'm almost certain regardless of the type of microphone you have, you will always hear your own computer output. Keep in mind it also depends on how far away you are from your computer, and how loud it is. Along with that, on zoom in the advanced settings of your audio tab, there is a noise gate/noise suppression. This means that it will mute your microphone whenever your voice is not speaking, it's a very useful tool.
@financial Potion I loved your video and i have this device but i cant get it to work with my macbook air. Did you use it with a macbook and if so how did you get it to work?
I have only used it on a ipad, iphone, android and Mac desktop computer. Have you tried connecting it with the thunderbolt connection similar to the iphone?
Need help please i have the Kimafun 2.4G microphone that we just ordered. I also have a bluetooth hearing aid. I'm wanting to install this on a laptop work - so i can quit having to wear a headset i'm wanting to be able to talk through the microphone and also be able to hear via my bluetooth hearing aid. Anyone know if this is possible and how can i get this set up to do what i'm wanting? Thank you
We have an H4N and an H6 we could test on. We have never tested with that since when we use the Zoom we tend to use our Sennheisers goo.gl/EF8d82 or RodeLink Mics goo.gl/iDBrwg when we do that type of a production. Since there is a line out 1/8th in jack on the side I would image they work and honestly for the price the sound is great! Not as good as the two mentioned above, however you can see the price difference. They work really well with your computer, tablets and phones, those we have tested, however I would image they would work well with the Zoom H5N with the line out 1/8th in jack.
The Horse Shoe connector that you are calling it what it is actually called is a Y Connector as it's shaped like a Y that's what we in the Media Industry call it
Hi so my friend gave this to me recently but the “horsehoe” looking part that comes with it is not in the case can anyone recommend an adapter I can get to be able to use it with my iPhone, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
Yikes, I am not sure. Everyone I know needs the horseshoe piece to make it work. If you have a new Iphone you also need the adaptor to be able to plug in a headphone like jack. This may work however I haven't tested it myself- www.amazon.com/Rode-SC4-inches-Microphone-Cable/dp/B00L6C8PN0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1539654121&sr=8-3&keywords=iphone+mic+adapter
Financial Potion yeah fortunately I have the iPhone 6s so I don’t need the dongle but thank you so much for the recommendation I’ll try it out and let you know!!!
I'm trying to use this microphone to record a zoom video but I must be doing something wrong as my audio isn't getting picked up. It does get picked up on my iphone camera, so I know it works and I am using the right side of the splitter. What am I doing wrong on zoom? Does anyone have any advice? PS, I have a MacBook in case that's necessary info. I would appreciate any and all guidance!
I plugged the receiver to the horseshoe piece (on the mic part) and plugged it into my Samsung S6 phone. When I plug it into the phone message pops up saying "earphones connected". The blue lights worked so they're synced but I don't think the phone is recognizing the mic, because when I tried to record something, the mic isn't working. I have tried plugging it into the earphone part but still get the same message. I have tried to look into setting on my phone but do not see anything for audio setting? Am I missing something, or doing this wrong?
Try to troubleshoot and see if the microphone will work on another device like a computer or tablet. If it works on another device then bring the phone into the cell phone carrier to let them know your headphone jack isn't working.

Hi Eleanor! So sorry to hear you're having that issue. Could you please tell me what camcorder you're using this mic with? Have you tried it on other devices like a phone or tablet? Please let me know so I can troubleshoot.
Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm using Kimire Full HD camcorder. I have not tried with other recording device yet as I intend to use the camcorder to record my content. Perhaps I shall also try on other device too to troubleshoot if it's my camcorder's problem.
I looked up the camera and see there is an input for the mic so there shouldn't be any issues. Are you able to go to the menu and adjust the audio gain control settings? It may be up too high. The other suggestion is to troubleshoot and try the mic on a few other devices. However the gain control on the camcorder may be the issue.
I see. Thanks a lot for helping me on this. Certainly make things easier for a not very tech savvy person like me. I shall go check the gain control. :)

I got it brand new from a friend at 5 dollars. The awesome thing is that you dont need batteries like the system she is wearing, this system us actually USB charged no batteries needed at all.

Sorry this chick just does some boring presentation. She might have chosen an over 400 dollar microphone to wear. This item I actually have and do love it. I got it brand new from a friend at 5 dollars. The awesome thing is that you dont need batteries like the system she is wearing, this system us actually USB charged no batteries needed at all.
