There’s a reason no one talks about Black Desert outside that community. It’s a mess on console.

when the player character sets the boss on fire the temperature goes up, which is a nice little detail that also hints at extensive survival mechanics.

More gameplay will be released during gamescom (there will be several videos totaling 1 hour), maybe tomorrow we'll have another one. Stay tuned.

FYI this game started as an MMO co-op, but during development it evolved into a single player open world game WHICH TAKES PLACE in the Black Desert Online world.
@@MisterK-YT they clarified that originally it did start out as being in the same world, but it has evolved into its own thing, the world of crimson desert is called Pywell, it has similarities to black desert’s world, trolls, orcs, magic, the human architecture styles, etc, but it is its own thing NOT set in the black desert world.

I don't think it's vaporware. They made black dessert online and that game was graphically good but the gameplay loop quickly became repetitive plus p2w was promoted.
People played it gamescom.
The entirety of Black Desert looks too good to be true. The character creator alone in that game is insane. Pearl Abyss seems to want to push boundaries with every release.
This game literally came out of nowhere and it looks like it absolutely slaps. I cannot wait for this one.
Not exactly out of nowhere, there were trailers and talks back in 2019/2020 if I remember correctly.

@@MajerHawk Definitely not out of nowhere. It's a Black Desert spinoff and it's been getting hype and marketing for the past 5 years. Still has 6 months to go at the very least so we'll see a lot more of it as we get closer I'm sure

Near fires or explosions, the temp seems to go up. Nice little detail they added.
Apparently the game was ready last year but they delayed it's release by two years to iron out everything in the game and a build for a certain Console that all developers hate.

I am going tbh, it looks right for them. Even BDO, depsite being an MMO. Has amazing graphics, art design and combat. The classes are also very unique. And in that game, there are 0 loading screens. Its hard for me to explain how giant that map is. It has surface level, underwater, underground, sea, land, and diverse biodomes.

I'm so ready for a game that actually introduces real physical mechanics to killing a giant boss. I'm tired of all the souls like boss feet chopping. I'm so excited for this game.
One thing and i think this is why they went the single player route with this, is Korean and Chinese markets are making the big advance to western market and Western consumers need to be attached to the games or sagas,Halo, Souls games, AC (even if you like it or not) The witcher etc etc, so they need to stablish the franchise to the mainstream audience and then start to profit, i can bet my house that after crimson desert we FOR SURE going to have a sequel to Black desert

Looks good so far, except for the weird "jitteryness" (eg 3:51) that seems to happen now and then. Not sure if it's a problem with frame-generation or upscaling, but I hope that gets fixed

bdo has always been mechanically and graphically amazing batshit systems on systems on systems the one thing I was surprised about is the VA and seems like there's interesting characters and story in this game which makes sense since sing player
As someone with thousands of hours in BDO, nothing here looks too good to be true. The combat & animations look like BDO. Having enemies that fight back in an intelligent way is the only thing that is surprising here.
Oh yeah, I've been looking forward to Crimson Desert & DokeV from developer Pearl Abyss.
I just hope that I'm still alive when this comes out

This game looks phenomenal. It looks very deep and rich in features as well, from what we've seen so far. The world looks amazing, the animations are insanely smooth, the scale looks fantastic and the interactivity with the world in terms of being able to interact with NPCS, carry around stuff, presumably some survvial mechanics with temperature and food, being able to ride mounts and wagons, taking missions of different variations, not just hunting monsters but also minute little tasks... it looks amazing.
The only thing that I don't like so far are the sheer overflow of particle effects (shoots an arrow and random white sparkles appear?) that drowns and oversaturates the combat that already looks more than just good enough. It also diminishes strong attacks and cool moments when literally every strike is just a firework, even when you just shoot an arrow at a guy. I hope we can turn that down.
Another thing that I will turn down by at least 95% is the camera shake. I think that's a korean/japanese videogame thing, but man, it drives me crazy how every attack, block or hit, just violently wiggles the camera, repeatedly. I said it before, but just let your amazing combat, details and scenery speak for itself. You don't need to add unnecessary filters and drama to it, you're already there. It's like in action movies when they have a fight scene and you can't see shit because it looks like someone recorded it with a gopro strapped to one of the actors.
In those scenes they often do it to mask bad fights or choreographies, but in Crimson Desert, it's super unnecessary.

I suggest people try black desert for awhile and look at other games in development pearl abyss is no joke and its not fake. Its hard to fake this much content like theyve shown with actual looking combat gameplay this will play better than black desert but it will give people an idea of their talent for the yr it was launched.

I like this game but I am not sure it will play in the steam deck but there are surprises like Wukong.
Strait up this looks like an upgraded BDO, there are reused animations from the warrior in the video but BDO is know for having incredible graphics and the best action gameplay in the mmo genre wosh they tune the particle effects back tho

@@andrewdaileychufableWell it is a cowboy game, so the horse mechanics needed to be more important than just about anything else. No other studio is going to spend that much money on horse dev time. Horses in RDR are MORE of a gameplay mechanic than actual combat is, compared to most games where horses are simply another means of traversal.
@@justinp_ in elden ring there’s a lot of running around just like in rdr2. They couldn’t seem to get that down very well as well or not even close to rdr2 (2018)
it seems like MMO/live service studios been more successful moving to single player games than vice versa. I have no data for that but it seems likely. Either way, this looks really fun.

can you mount a dragon anytime you want or is it just limited for use ?
My only qualm with the game was somtimes the animations for beasts looked very stiff and janky. They would move so easily while being large and it wouldn't be smooth but a quick shift that felt like a jutter. Now this si mostly prevelant in the dragon. but when they showcased this animations it was well over 2 years ago. So i hope they've been able to smooth out some more of the animations for the dragon and beasts etc.
Witcher 4 with no geralt better be life changing cause this looks awesome

I've always thought Black Desert looked really cool, but I'm not into MMO's really. This, though, it looks like RDR2 and The Witcher 3 had a baby (the graphics really remind me of RDR2 in the wilderness, especially). I hope the environmental destruction is for more than just those towers, cause so few games take their destruction physics seriously, but regardless, I didn't even know they were making a single player story-driven version of Black Desert. Looks awesome, I really hope it delivers on what it's showing.

Not sure about the flashing sword animations. Unless they indicate a sort of power buff, it seems unecessary and kinda takes you out of it.
Depth of story and plot-crossroads are what worries me to no end as BDO player

I said this a long time ago, China and Korea are coming to eat Western Dev's lunch. Stellar blade, lies of p, Black Myth , now this game.
Biggest problem I have with this title (kinda similar with DokeV) is the constant screen shaking and often too many particle effects. An important part of good visual design is clarity so the player can always tell what's happening on the screen.

I trust live demos as much as a trust trailer's. Just pollish a small section of the game, and that's what you let people play. Or worse, specifically make a vertical slice and just pretend it's the game.
I trust nothing until it's released and it's impossible to hide anything any more.
How I wish BDO's combat is like this.
Anyone who's played BDO knows graphics and gameplay isn't the thing to worry about with PA. They'll deliver. It's story you gotta worry about.
I'm so damn excited for this game. I'm not going to hype it up, but all I expect is that it has to be better than Dragons Dogma 2.
Do not believe this trailer, literally. I've heard of this earlier than [Wukong Blach myth]'s first trailer but this one still doesn't have its release schedule 😅 It's under development for seven years 😂

@@ArtVandelay592 funny, I see devs constantly arguing against having their own engine and switching to UE5. But every game I see using their own engine runs so well without stutters even in early trailers. RE engine, this, horizon, Ghost of tsushima etc

This is game looks too good to be true. It will never look like this oN ps5. Its for the ps5 pro, thats why its been d layed, this game was originally announced for ps4.
