The difference between Kimbap and Sushi:
Sushi: The Japanese version. The rice is seasoned with vinegar and normally has raw fish fillings (tuna, salmon etc).
Kimbap: The Korean version. The rice is made with Sesame oil instead of vinegar and is generally sweeter than its Japanese equivalent. The filling often consists of canned and preserved foods such as canned tuna, kimchi and grilled bulgogi.

Japanese sushi isn’t typically rolled and stuffed the way most people are used to. (I have a few Japanese friends and have some friends who are still currently living in Japan). It’s still kimbap. Kimbap is when it’s rolled and has things the middle like the way we’re used to. It’s not real sushi if it’s rolled that way.

As my Japanese friend would always say on how to differentiate between the two dishes, it’s usually between makizushi and kimbap rather sushi and kimbap . Both are rolled with rice wrapped with seaweed. Usually makizushi was used with the vinegar flavoured rice while kimbap uses plain rice sometimes topped with sesame oil to give it some savouriness. The feelings are usually up to your choice , they would say makizushi have fish while kimbap uses meat but at the end of the day they’re both rolled rice with seaweeds so experiment and enjoy the food!

Taz , if you keep a wet paper towel by your cutting board, the paper towel will take all of the acids for the onion so you don't cry! My Grandma taught me this cause I always cry when I chop onions!

I used to suck at seasoning/adding spice to dishes as well, but here are my tips: STOCK UP ON SEASONING BLENDS AND SPICES! For example, smoked paprika, curry powder, garlic + herb seasoning, and even those labeled for "meat" or "chicken" taste great on practically everything! I also recommend you just experiment and taste until you find what works best for you!

here is a simple difference between sushi and kimbap:
sushi: vinegar added to rice, mainly with fish, wasabi, and soy sauce
kimbap: sesame oil and salt added to rice, no dip (unless with shin ramen bc that ish tastes so good), also sometimes the seaweed paper itself is coated with a bit of sesame oil
i dont even think taz flavored her rice...
she also used fish and used dip so i would say she leans toward sushi, but i can also see the kimbap too since kimbap is usually just different veggies as filling (honestly we just put in whatever we like in ours but to each their own)

Cut the onions in half and peel them, then put them in ice water for about 5-10 minutes and then cut them up, stops you from crying. Ya’ll are welcome.😌

Kimbap is just sushi with different fillings and seasoning basically. You use the same rice but season with sesame and fill it with different stuff including egg, radish, carrot and cucumber amongst lots of other things. You also usually cook all the fillings.
