If a woman tells you she's getting bad vibes from a man and is afraid, but you think you'll be fine because you have a gun, shut up and trust her instincts. Even if you're a woman too and you feel everything is fine, you should take her concerns seriously.
Obviously the people who do the killing are still the ones at fault though, I'm not blaming the victims.

I agree. Anytime I’ve ever felt something was off, it was. My ex husband had that same intuition. When he felt something was wrong, it was. Soon as I feel something is wrong, I leave wherever I am. I immediately write it down or tell someone else that something was wrong. If folk’s would only listen to the concerns of others, these folks would still be alive. Everyone including the wife knew something was wrong and the husband thought he was a tough guy. His ignorance costed them their life. Not victim blaming either. How many red flags need to be seen before listening to it? What a shame. I hope they find his body. It’s sad the fbi still has Muffs body as no one ever claimed it. 🙏🏽🕊️🕊️

NO NO NO, thank you but no, im screaming at the screen! who does that?! going on a complete stranger mans boat with your 2 daughters???!!! talk about a NAIVE mother! he rapes them, then throws them all overboard tied to concrete blocks ALIVE to drown. the bodies surface, hes convicted because they find his # in their car on a scrap of paper. he was also convicted of a rape of another woman same scenerio, a boat ride. he approached her & her girlfriend, the friend refused but the one went. he wanted sex, she refused, he raped her. she was lucky enough, he didnt kill her. both women id him when he was caught for the murder. he was put to death in 1994. hes been convicted after death thru dna of another woman s murder & is suspected of many more as far back as the 1960s. there is so much evil among us. use your head, beware of 'nice' strangers. refuse invitations that can put you at risk. tmi??? well, 3 months in lockdown here, so i could talk an hour about why cheeze doodles are shaped like that! lol.

It is not unheard of for a woman to feel a little afraid at such. Nor for some men. So seeing two burly big male stragers clearly looking towards her and heading in her direction she concluded to just 'high tail' it out of there. Her primary thoughts at the time were to get as far from her villenous partner or ex-partner as fast and as far as she could. It was likly the very first time she was not surrounded by sea or ocean near him. So seizing the moment she was watching at that time for her oppunity for escape. Then a sudden problem of two unanounced stangers occured and she paniced. Ran to get away from her maliciouse ex-husband or husband who'd recently murdered two people and taken their yacht. Did he also have a loaded pistol gun. So she may have wanted to be as far away from him just in case he started using it. Some wives may agree it does not look too good to be standing near or with in 100 yards of a mad husband whilst he is shooting people in full sihjt of witnesses. So where she was running to was away. Fleeing from danger. Or fleeing from the problem or potencial problem No plan about destination as destination is any place but there. Even though I respect Vincent Bugliosi's work, there was no way that Stephanie Stearns should have been acquitted. You're on island where two people eventually end up dead, and **you** end up with *their* yacht, and they're nowhere to be found until the remains of one of the missing owners turns up in a metal box??!!
And by some stretch of the imagination, it was asserted by defense that Ms. Stearns was *not* an integral part of the death & disappearance of these two people??!! Come on now--she was either an accomplice before the fact, or an accomplice after the fact, but she was *definitely* more than just an unwitting participant who was under the sway of Buck Walker. **No one is that oblivious!!!**

We have the luxury of watching this as a dramatised episode so we get convinced she was guilty. The court case doesn't play out like that. She had an incredibly good defense lawyer. His book is a great read without a doubt. However, when all is said and done, how probable is it that Buck Walker was able to overpower, kill, dismember two grown adults, pack their remains into two large aluminium containers, get them into an inflatable boat and dump them in a lagoon, all on a tiny atoll without Stephanie knowing? Utterly unbelievable.

Bugliosi's argument that the presumed location of the murders was at precisely the point in the lagoon where Stephanie's view would have been obscured was very compelling. Bugliosi was certainly arrogant, but his closing argument was just magnificent, and to me, convincing.

    • @rubytuesday1345
      @rubytuesday1345 Год назад +9

@@twown There is absolutely no doubt that Bugliosi was a masterful defense laywer and as you say, his closing argument was compelling. Conversely, the prosecution team was not in the same league and in many respects I think that they handed the result to Bugliosi. Notwithstanding Bugliosi's skill, I still struggle to believe Stephanie's innocence - it is simply beyond comprehension that she was unaware of Buck's actions. The physical act of overpowering, killing, dismembering two grown adults on a quiet island, literally a couple of hundred yards from Stephanie without her knowledge is for me, impossible to believe. That's before you consider her behaviour after they left the island and leading to her eventual capture. Often the simplest answer is the right one. It is a facinating story whichever way you look at it!

The male had a public defender. Had the male been the wealthy one, he would have gotten away with a slap on the wrist and a diagnosis of "affluenza." Money talks regardless of race, religion, gender, age, blah blah blah...

I just finished reading Bugliosi’s book. I knew about this case for years and just got around to reading it. It’s a great book - an engrossing mystery. Bugliosi was a good attorney but I believe Stephanie was guilty! It’s infuriating she got off! I’m glad others think so as well.
Vince’s summation was delivered perfectly and from the outset given the information, it could lead someone to believe she was innocent. However there are several things that can be picked apart:
    - Just because the bodies - at least Muff’s - were thrown in the Lagoon vs the open ocean doesn’t mean Buck was trying to hide them from Steph. Given Muff’s body was dismembered, placed in a trunk and wire was placed around it means Buck and possibly Steph went to great lengths to conceal the body! It was a miracle the trunk washed up and the remains spilled out and that someone even found them! Im sure Buck and Steph weren’t expecting that.
    - Steph’s diary entry about eating the Grahams food was so callous! And she wrote it only days after being supposedly “ frantic” over M&M being missing. Vince stated what were they supposed to do, let the food rot? Well maybe not but Steph also didn’t need to write that entry how they were getting fatter and fatter and eating all the foods they hadn’t had in a while and then mentioning the foods along how they’re dogs were eating. That’s motive in my mind. Vince tried convincing the jury that Buck and Steph were fine eating the food off the land and they’d be going to Fanning to get more food, but if that were the case why did Steph make a big deal about them eating the food on Sea Wind and getting fatter and fatter? Obviously it did bother them they had no food. That’s motive, not only on Buck’s part, but hers as well!
-Vince tried saying Curt was lying about the cake truce on the 28th and tried discrediting him and Bernie, but Curt sounded the alarm that something was wrong, he asked his friend Martin to fly over Palmyra to see if M&M were there and then both of these two men kept pushing the authorities to look into it. These men had nothing to do with the murders but look at their actions compared to Steph’s when she and Buck returned to HI. They both had the boat repainted and Steph even said she wanted part of it in Lavender so she considered the boat hers too - it wasn’t just Buck’s boat as Vince tried telling the jurors. Steph also made no attempt to contact the HI authorities because she knew they’d take the boat away she said. Then when confronted with the Coast Guard she also tried getting away! She only started talking after she was caught. You see the big difference in the way she acted after they returned to HI vs the way Curt and Bernie acted. And Steph was the one on Palmyra when M&M disappeared.
    - Steph said they found $400 on the Sea Wind then mentioned where they found it - some was found inside a book and the rest in Mac’s wallet which was under the floor board, I believe. That money wasn’t out in the open - those two losers obviously SEARCHED the Sea Wind for that money!! And why did they need to do that when the boat was filled with food? That could be another motive. Steph also said “we” found the money so she searched as well. Vince tried putting everything onto Buck but Steph was in on a lot of it.
There’s more including all her lies!
I wish Enoki would have brought up the above information picking it apart and I also wish Enoki had put that guy George Gordon on the witness list in the beginning.
Unfortunately Steph is still alive and lives in a nice on HI. What a disgusting woman and a double murderer!

it's far worse than you know.
DETAILS NOT IN THE VIDEO ,..."NOT FOR YOUNG READERS.
The criminal couple had a dog with them that had attacked the other boaters before being alone with mac and Muff.,.. this is important, you'll see why." they actually missed this in the investigation.
      "
The skull was found with animal scratches and insect damage,.. there is not a single animal on the atoll... the bite marks were from the dog.
the film they reference there in the video recovered from her camera leaves out the disgusting part,.. on that roll of film the couple had taken pictures of them both having sex with that dog.
      This too is important....
Buck had claimed while in prison a version of the story that was a lie ,. but he did it because he was ignorant of how DNA evidence worked.
he claimed he had an affair with muff... and was discovered and that the husband had accidentally shot her as she was on top of buck.
and that Mac had tried then to kill buck but the gun jammed,..now the important party he made that particular evidence because he feared his DNA from his sperm might be discovered.
the couple did poison the Grahams with rat poison buck had found while exploring the island.
But this did not kill them ,.. they had offered a cake as a truce offering,. of course, poisoned.
      It did however incapacitate them.
They dragged the Grams onto the beach off the zodiac that they claimed had turned over.
They tied them hand and foot and tortured both sexually using the dog... where the bite marks on the skull came from.
It is unclear if the dog actually killed them but at the very least it had mangled them both badly.
At some point, Buck shot muff in the head to ensure she was dead.
they took the two metal containers from the "boat" and placed the bodies into them ,.. dragged them into the water not wanting to leave evidence at the site of the burning.
they burned them both to disguise the bodies if found.
Then buck tied a rope to both containers then to the back of the zodiac,. and tried to tow the metal cases that had been wrapped in wire to keep them close, his plan was to take them out of the lagoon but by this time it was late at night and he missed the point in the reef he could exit the lagoon from .
as a result, he ran the zodiac over the reef and the first container snagged and the tow rope broke.
depositing both containers to float in the lagoon,..which then sank there .... this too is important,.. neither bodies could ever on their own float out of that shark-infested lagoon.
The lowest possible place is 12 feet from the bottom and it is a sharp sheer underwater cliff face the sunken containers could never be swept up and over while submerged.
On the way back Buck had penned this long-winded excuse for having the boat to the graham family...in the hope he could legitimize having it
Saying he had intended to bring the boat back to them and was towing it to Hawaii.
But claimed his own craft had sunk and he had to fail the "stolen" boat back .
He went on to say it was because he was towing his own craft behind the "stolen" one that his sunk and felt he should keep the "stolen" oat,..andsaid something about salvage laws and hoped they would understand and give him their blessing,..
The letter was never delivered but was found on the stolen oat.
wait for it ,.. can you figure out where Mac still is?
      page down for the answer,..
Mac's metal container was never found in the lagoon for good reason ,.. the atoll was formed by volcanic activity as most are ,.. in that lagoon, there are many underwater lava tubes.
the only place that Mac's body and the metal container could be is in one of those tunnel-like tubes,.. after shifting around the bottom of the lagoon as Muff's container had ,.. Mac's by chance slid into the open mouth of one of those tubes, with no current of water pushing out of them it just got pushed further and further into it till it wedged tight...and there is where one could find Mac today ,.. If one were a brave cave diver not afraid of a very large shark population.
Cave diving is a very very specific skill,.. the tubes have never been explored by cave divers ... but they would still find the box there ,.. it could've proven to be Mac by his school ring that has never been located,.. since there is no exit current anything that went in stayed in and ids most likely in the box or beside it.
the odd thing about the box ,.. the part of it being on the boat is a lie they told for reasons I don't know ,.. uck had actually taken the metal containers from these concrete storage sheds the military had left on the beaches on the west side o the island,.."don't ask me why they claim the boat publicly but that's where buck got them "said so himself" and exact matches were found in those sheds with two missing that buck used,..either way the boxes where aluminum and would still be there intact after all these years
p.s. how do I know all this you may ask,.. in 2011 I helped the only man to interview Buck ,.. he wrote a book with bucks bs story ,.. and had access to all of the case file info as well as the only person Busk talked to ,.." he wanted to find Mac ,.. so I found him for the writer using the evidence, someday I hope Mac is recovered,.. his family deserves to bury him.

@Douggie F. From what I remember the Goose was quite miserable due to the fact every egg she carried was about 100x her own body weight. This also caused some serious, long lasting health issues. If I remember correctly the Goose ended up taking her own life. Obviously she couldn't swim what with the ridiculously heavy load she had to carry & one day she just stepped off the side of a 50 foot high cliff & basically dropped like a "stone" into the sea. Golden stone that is.
People overlook the fact of how much she wanted a family too but obviously that couldn't happen as she only laid golden eggs.
I know we've only just met but hypothetical question here..If you lost your Dog could I then call you Dougless? Or Dougless Dougiee the Doughnut? You pick.

In this situation she had to as high tide was due in soon and everything was going to wash away for good. And the authorities weren’t exactly going to show up quickly given they were on an uninhabited island in the middle of nowhere . Good thing she picked it all up!

Read it a couple of times in the last 25yrs, and listening to it right now in audio book. When I read it back then and listening to it now, I still think there was no way she didn't know what went down w/ their deaths...

Why didn't Roy and Steph just leave the island? When they had no food and it wasn't working, why not call it a day, what was the point of staying there and starving?

Because their boat was a piece of garbage and most likely wouldn’t have made it back to HI and they had hardly no money. They took the lazy and evil way out.
