    There's no beating FP100c in my eyes, seemed to scan the best out of all of them as well. Such a shame that it's been discontinued, although I agree with the instax mini being a more convenient format to give to people/carry around, plus the tlr is sure to turn a few heads

      Yeah it's a bit rough, but they have to recoup R&D costs from reverse engineering polariod's formula. It'll go down in the future. Their camera is what interests me most though.

      @comatosecrysis 7 лет назад +27

      Hey guys, so as I understand it: the reason Impossible Project film is so expensive is because they are a small company trying to rebuild that format of instant film. If I'm not much mistaken, they bought the old factory where the film used to be made and have had to get the chemistry done independently (they can't just copy and use the exact Polaroid film with the same chemistry and stamp their name on it). Since the Project is still in its "infancy", the prices are high and the shots are very much hit and miss.. It's just nice that someone is trying to breathe life back into 600 format film

    • @miloreidel
      @miloreidel 7 лет назад +6

      its monopolized so they can raise the prices however they wish, also the market isn't big enough for other companies to invest. it's annoying.

  • @SalvatoreCapalbi

    For the yellowish tone of the Impossible B/W the solution is quite simple: leave the film under the tongue for the first 10 seconds (so you can walk and not run for to go to shield the film :-) ) I wasted 2 packs before convince myself to wait but results is astonishing (if you have an Impossible Gallery account you easily find some of my shots in there)

    Polaroid 180/195 are the best portable cameras (save the Mamiya press or Polaroid 600SE which aren't portable) for instant photography. The best body, solid focus, sharp lenses. I love my 180. I have a freezer or film I should really get to.

    Great video! Really thorough and fun. I haven't been super careful with my Impossible color film when it's developing to have it shaded and it has turned out just fine - so I'm guessing it is not THAT sensitive. I do believe they just recommend that you keep it shaded and not in, like, direct light.

    Just carry the empty box for the impossible film and push the tops flaps inwards to seal it from the light getting in. When you take the photo and its sticking out of the camera, slide the photo into the box and then pull it away from the camera. That way you don't have to run around. I have the SX70 but the impossible film isn't quite good enough yet. It also doesnt have the frog tongue thing that covers the photo when it comes out. You have to hide it right away. The impossible stuff is way to unpredictable for the money. Ive had quite a few packs where the whole pack was bad and nothing came out. I switched to shooting the wide instax. Its a lot cheaper by a mile and the photos always come out good. The FP100c is the best by far. I luckily bought 20 packs of color and 20 of black and white before they cancelled it. My 195 is gonna be a paper weight after its all gone though.

    • @bmcgeown
      @bmcgeown 8 лет назад +1

      I do the same thing with the box for my sx-70. Still in a panic to get it in the box though. lol I installed a frog tongue, but it hardly ever works anymore. One thing I've noticed about impossible film is that proper storage and handling helps a lot. I've had just enough good results with impossible film to keep me coming back for more.
      I agree that the FP100c is the best but bummed about the discontinuation. Unfortunately, I wish I had stocked up before prices shot up.
      George, im pretty sure the yellowing is just a characteristic of impossible. I know with the color film, temperature influences the color. Warmer temps result in more yellow photos. But im not 100% sure with B&W. I believe ive read somewhere that moisture from the chemicals can cause some yellowing. I tried putting those little silica packs into some packs of my B&W after being shot and I think I have noticed slightly less yellowing (not enough to confirm this though). I think yours turned out pretty spot on though. Your I-1 probably has a more accurate meter than the old sx-70's.

    I got a 90s polaroid and used the impossible project 600 film with it. i didn't know how to use it at first so i left it exposed to light more or less the whole time it was developing. i actually preferred the results of those photos rather than when i got it in the dark. that, and there was hardly a difference.

    I had the same light leak problem with my lomo wide (those circles are not intended to be there - it might be an issue with this particular model). I resolved it by putting a thicker rubber band around the base of the lens, which eliminated 95% of the issue.

    Wonderful video as always! Have you ever tried using a pack film back on a medium format camera? I use mine on my Mamiya RB67, which although doesn't use the full frame it still looks beautiful with a square image dead in the centre. Are the optics in a classic polaroid camera as nice as the glass you'd get on a medium format lens?

    • @NegativeFeedback
      @NegativeFeedback  8 лет назад

      I've never used it like that personally, but I'm not too keen on not using the whole frame personally, I would think that the lens would most likely be better optics though

    hey guys, great video! i just wanted to share some of my opinions after shooting with all of those films.
    i have to admit i don't like the instax line, i just don't like their format, for me the frames just look ugly, but they are great films, the colors are really true to life on those (too much for me tho, they just look to ''digitalish'' for my taste, but if that's what you are looking for, they are great!) and they are very reliable and the cheapest of them all
    for the fp100c, i have the same opinions, except that i love the format that it has, and it produces a gorgeous negative (i mainly shoot this film for the negatives) and without a doubt this is the shapest film of the bunch
    and my favourite is the impossible film, i love the colors and the format, they are just amazing, i get really sharp results with my sx70, and i have been shooting the newest formula (both bw and color) and i do not shade the film from light when it comes out, i just watch it develop in front of me to be honest, and it looks amazing

    I just find the instax mini too damn small. FP100c is beautiful but expensive. Instax wide is my favourite just as the film is readily available, it's about 70p a shot and 1 minute to develop. The instax 210 and 300 have an f/14 lens though so can't really shoot without flash. Might pick up that lomo as it's got an f/8!

    The Polaroid 195 is in its own league. It was almost an unfair comparison because the 195 is now a $600+ camera and all the others are under $200. That being said, the 195 is rad. Maybe should have used a 100 or 250 though. I just wish Fujifilm would sell the equipment and everything to Polaroid Originals/impossible so they can continue making the peal apart film. $2.50 a shot is killing me!
