Your hybrid picking is incredibly beautiful and flawless. I love the way you play and your teaching methodology. Your tutorials are a fountain of clear musical knowledge. Thank you Sandra, for investing so much time and effort in the preparation of your excellent videos!
Thanks, Luis. This was one of my first videos. Way too long, but I'm glad people still like it, despite the conceptional flaws. It's my second most viewed video. Did you change over to hybrid picking or do you play fingets only. You play an acoustic guitar, if I remember correctly.

Hello! Very nice video. Congratulations. It would be perfect if each chord was written just above fretboard, when you play... Thank you and thank you !!!!!💐
Hi Sandra! Thank you for some really great, enjoyable instructional videos~!~ I am a big fan of the warm, and heartfelt jazz/pop standards, such as Misty. I like your choice of full chords for Misty, which are in my opinion, needed to convey the intentional "warmth" of the melody of this classic of classics! Many players tend to forget that,, and thin-out the song, by playing thinner, lighter chords,, and tend to also speed up this beautiful song to the point of literally changing the song almost completely!!! Turning it into a bebop tune, which is the choice of the player,, almost completely robs the song of it's value. So,,, I applaud you for keeping the song authentic, and beautiful,,, just as Errol Garner envisioned his work of art,, and,, he wrote it the year of my birth, which I just learned now, as I write~!~!~!~
Very cool way to teach us this great jazz ballad ! Very Nice to see women teaching music on RUclips as well! Really like your calming and chilled voice❤
Thank you so much Sandra for this great lesson to this beautiful Jazz Standard! Your tutorial is great and easy to follow along even for someone who doesn't know all his jazz chords (yet) because you let me know again on every single chord which fret i have to press! Together with the guitar tab PDF on the side it´s easy to memorize the names to the chord shapes. It allows me to master the song while on the move. Sandra I am just starting to delve into jazz guitar and I really enjoy not only your lessons but your upbeat, positive attitude. You make learning fun.
Thank you nice lady you did it again. I was learning the bridge to Misty, and the chords from RUclips didn't sound right. I had good luck with another song I got from you, and your comp chords to Misty made me sit up and say, "Alright! It's about time". I guess a piano player wrote what they thought were perfect chords for the bridge, but, busy, busy, busy. Too many chords to play in such a short time. Your comp chords are perfect for me to play behind a lead instrument, like sax, guitar, piano, etc. You make comping worth it. There's an old Cajun saying that, "Too much salt spoils the gumbo", and the chords I was trying to use were spoiling the tune. Thanks again. I'll be on your site on RUclips again I'm sure. Though I play lead when necessary, I'm a "comp" man. Herb Ellis's guitar classes taught me the importance of that. I'm a big fan of John Pisano's comping, and I look to his book for inversions. Stay on RUclips. I'm sure you've got a mess of fans here in the U.S.
Hey, thanks so much! Glad it wss helpful! I'll soon have a Comping Starter Pack out. Check out my shop guitarversum. com around Easter. PS, if you sign up to my newsletter you'll get special offers ☺️.
Thank you SO much for your attention to detail and the clear explanations, including your commentary on key, chord structure. The thoroughness with which you show the fingering and explain the playing is in a class by itself. You are easily among the top teachers online.
This is a very clear and concise lessons. Appriciate it. A lot of jazz lessons are either far too beginner based, or expect you to be a jazz master. The pacing of this lesson was excellent 😊.
@@GuitarversumSandraSherman I liked the fact you named the chord, and then also stated the fingering of it as well, I find people do either one of the other. Great lesson😊
Gracias Sandra, estoy conociendo el jazz de esta forma. No tengo los recursos para pagar un profesor o Profesora. Pero ahora te considero mi Profesora y espero un día tocar al menos la mitad de lo que tocas. Gracias, greetings from Mar del Plata, Argentina.l!
Thank you Sandra. Your teaching method makes seems as if were easy to learn. Great teacher and amazing guitar player. A warm hug from El Salvador in Central America.

Another great job Sandra with this lovely and classic Garner tune. I will get my VIsa pre-paid card updated sone and contribute again. Thanks so much your the best!
Sandra.....GR-r-r-reetings from Hollywood, CA again.. I absolutely LOVE you !!! This is one of my favorite JaZZ standards and I happen to be at just the right place in the learning curve to have watched this and learned the entire A1, A2, parts up to the B part, in just a couple of hours of watching this, and going back and rewatching some parts, until I could nail it.....and I AM THRILLED sand on top of the world now !!! THANKS so much for not ONLY what you do, but the pain staking detailed way in which you do it.
Seems like everyone here has already said it ...so I simply concur....wonderful player, teacher and inspiration. I’m closing in on the end of my 58 years of playing. Hands hurt, brain fades and both rotator cuffs are torn. I live vicariously no thru your hands. Keep up the magnificent performances
This is a great lesson ! i`m a music student who`s played rock guitar for many years but just getting into jazz , I struggle with most online lessons because they`re usually not well done but it only took me a couple days to learn this piece from your video alone . Thanks !
Sandra thank you so much i can finally play it !! I still have some trouble to cleaning change between the B7 and E6 smoothly but this will come with time, while i put a lot of work into this i say it's on you, you're a crazy good teacheryou teach like i want to be taught. thanks so much
Merci, Fabien! Try holding the chord you're trying to change to in the air, then play it. Then move a few inches away again, holding your fingers the way theyre supposed to land on the strings (hold the shape in the air), then play the chord again. This way the new chord voicing gets in your muscle memory. If you can't hold the chord in the air, you won't be able to play it, because you have no imagination what it really looks like.
@@GuitarversumSandraSherman Thank you very much ! I used that trick when learning open chords at the beginning but completelly forgot about that haha, thank you very much ! you rock
Very nice teaching Sandra! I wanted to learn this years ago, but you and RUclips weren't around then! I look forward to you showing me and others more of your lovely lessons!
Thank you very much Sandra! I'm a professional Keyboard/Hammond B3 player that Just bought my self my first guitar. I completely new to the guitar. I got a Hagstrom 67 Viking II hollow body. I always wanted to learn a good rendition of Misty on guitar and found this tutorial the day I got the guitar. I've messed around with tones and switches, on the guitar and my Fender Twin Reverb amp, and got a beautiful tone on the neck pickup. Here I am 3 days into learning this, my fingers hurt like hell, but I'm at phase 3 thanks to you. I'm not fluent at all yet. LOL. But thanks to the way you teach, and explain what you're doing, it's in reach. If some one asks me what was the first chord I learned on the guitar. I will say a Bb7#5 followed by a Eb Maj 7 Chord LOL
Hi Sean, welcome to the jazz ride on my channel 😊. Glad that you like the way I teach and it helps you. As a pro yourself (I loooove the B3) you'll advance fast.
Than you, Steve. That warms my heart ♥
I'll learn as much as i can... but mainly came to listen to this georgeous play..... 🎸🎸💖
Awh, thanks so much! ❤️
This is a very clear and concise lessons. Appriciate it. A lot of jazz lessons are either far too beginner based, or expect you to be a jazz master. The pacing of this lesson was excellent 😊.
Thank you! Glad to make you happy 😊
@@GuitarversumSandraSherman I liked the fact you named the chord, and then also stated the fingering of it as well, I find people do either one of the other. Great lesson😊
Oh yeah! Chords melt in my soul.
Hehe, glad you dig it :-)
Sandra you are great and easiest jazz instructor, congratulations
Thank you, Luis! I try to keep things simple. Jazz is hard enough 😊

Thank you so much! ❤️ Makes me happy to see you're having fun with it and succeed. Keep swinging 🎶 🎸

That is so sweet, thank you! I hope your hands will get better again. All the best, my friend ❤️
This is a great lesson ! i`m a music student who`s played rock guitar for many years but just getting into jazz , I struggle with most online lessons because they`re usually not well done but it only took me a couple days to learn this piece from your video alone . Thanks !
Thank you so much for this! I learned some lovely new voicings here.
Glad it was helpful!
has great taste, won a fan.
Great version, easy and sounds beautiful - thanks Sandra!

Thanks.
Sandra, you have made jazz guitar understandable for me... sincere thank you!
That's the best compliment actually. Thanks! Enjoy the jazz ride, my friend :-)
Thandie so much ❤. Enjoy the jazz ride, my friend!
This is so Great ! Who WOULDN'T want you to "Play Misty For Them" ? This is Priceless - TYVM
Well, if you learn it, YOU can play it for your love ;-)
All the best, my friend. Keep swingin'!
It's more about muscle memory and dexterity for you. If do some of the classic finger exercises for Guitar. I don't have a tutorial on that, but I'm sure you'll find tons here on YT. Keep swinging 🎶 🎸
She is the absolute best on here
Sandra is amazing
Thanks so much for your kind words! ❤️
Beautiful lesson but I can't even come close to your hybrid picking method. You do so well with that. Nice to listen to. Thanks for the well taught lesson.
I have a hyprid pucking lesson. Just type "hybrud pucking guitsrversum" into the YT search box.
