Fascinating insight to show its not as easy as you make it look ,loads to take into consideration, but then benefits of the freedom and pleasure you get is insurmountable. Thanks very much for sharing donny, total pleasure to watch
Thanks Harry ..yup it should be remembered I have many years experience of small boats ..and a lot of these trips are not really suited for beginners 😀
Hi Donny, stunning, stunning and stunning. Love all of your content and who wouldn’t. Scotland is not only beautiful and mesmerising, that’s just the mainlands. Those who come should do the islands . Inner Hebrides can be one visit, outer on another, Orkney and Shetland should follow the rule as well.
Thanks Angus ..I always intended going to the outer hebrides but never managed ..my excuse was always "why have the additional expense of getting out there when there is still so much to see in the inner hebrides "..perhaps one day though.. although Im 70 next year so running out of time ?
Another superb video, Donnyt! Totally made my evening to watch this over dinner! McCormaig Isles a favourite place of my father, and we visited frequently in the 60s...looking forward to the next installment...
Been waiting for this set of video's Donny since we spoke at Kelly's Peer when you got back. I told you I had been to Jura and was surprised how many deer where on the beach. You told me Jura is Viking for Deer. You also told me don't be scared of the waves learn to ride them. Watching some of this to be honest scared the life out of me . Thanks for sharing Ray K UK YNWA.
@ That stag looked like no stag I’ve seen before that would definitely scare the life out of me if the goats are worse I think I’ll Cary a defibrillator with me lol. Thanks again.
Thanks donny, just beautiful, breathtaking yet again would love to do what you do, but think I would end up in an early grave 😂. Loved the wee island you stayed on ,and great history, until next time my friend, God bless and sail ⛵️ safe 😊
Thanks harry.. the music part of the videos is quite new to me but Im learning fast..so delighted with your comment..the soundtracks are now written and played by myself although the computer puts all the separate parts together.. I really enjoy learning and doing it :-D
Great inflatable set up! You handle it well in the waves and have created an excellent tour without soaking Me,,,,, your passenger. Love the history and drone shots
Thanks Jeff ..was up the loch with Craig yesterday ..he has been a great help getting me firewood for the wood burner..keep warm..its the cold season now 😀
Thanks william ..yup I try my best to get around but the weather has the final say.. I heard a rumour "Brian" might visit me around the festive season. :-D
@donnywilcox i think thats a great idea , even raises a smile from my missus .you dull man lol hope the weather favours your adventures soon .i know a bit of frost wont keep you indoors 😉
Nice ‘surfing’ skills crossing the race 💪🏻 as you say, the camera never properly shows the conditions as they really are. I’m really pleased you managed another decent trip and this first instalment was enjoyable as usual. What have been your wildlife highlights of the year so far, land and sea? One of the great things for me about getting out there are the unexpected encounters. Cheers
Gosh..thats a hard one to answer.. I still laugh at the swans at the wee out the way bay pecking me every time I turned my back on them .. I will return to videos of my stays up there and other wildlife encounters on Etive ..after this series. I was disappointed to go another year without seeing a basking shark. Its the reason I went to the Sound of Gunna as its supposed to be a hot spot to see them..but I saw none. I regularly saw them in the Clyde when a youngster sailing dinghy's. I was also disappointed to see the Sea Eagle nest abandoned as Im certain the eggs had been laid. I wasn't there for several weeks then was curious on my return to see no eagles in the area . I suspect something happened to the big female ? ..as very occasionally I would see the male ..then he too disappeared for several months. although occasionally recently I would see him a bit further up the coast. I was delight to hear reports recently of a new pair arriving in the area..and last week I saw the big female circling above the boat. Ok they are common in this area..but I still get a big thrill watching them. I saw one minky whale.. oh and a dead one on the shores of Loch Leven ..plenty common dolphin ..only one small pod of bottlenose ..and numerous porpoise. I am perhaps ashamed (but also delighted !) to say I killed and scoffed numerous seatrout/brown trout ..6 were over 2lb and one around 3lb ..they were all delicious.. I guess the best news is ..after years of getting many tick bites ..the boat tent stopped that ..Last year in Jura..I even had an adder on board the boat..my guess was I carried it there in my camping gear when packing things up. so boat tent saved that too. I saw several slow worms and a couple adders but none in the boat. I had an interesting encounter with a big fish in loch Tarbert..but that's for part three of this series.. Otters are quite common around taynuilt although not so many this year..too many campervans in the area now..but that's another story. I was also thrilled seeing that old grey royal stag in the loch leven video ..so I always enjoy encounters with the local wildlife and Im lucky there are plenty about ..Im watching a red squidger (squirrel on my fence as I type this )
@ wow - you’ve seen a lot, very impressive stuff, the west coast can offer amazing opportunities. I loved the video with the adder, hilarious, although I can imagine it wasn’t at the time 😅
Hey..hello there cousin..delighted you called in. I believe many years ago ..during the Highland clearances ..I had relatives that emigrated to Nova Scottia ..and once there they may have travelled around..we never know :-D
Nice vid, looking forward to part 2. I have a SIB similar to yours and next year I hope to do similar trips on the west coast out to smaller isles, fishing & camping. I see you have a spare engine ‘just in case’. What HP is your main outboard? Mine is currently a 10 but I figure that may be a bit small for inshore exploring over a few days.
Part two now on line Tony ..the main is a 25HP. Yup..handheld VHF not very good in remote places and few other boats around where I go..means the aux outboard for me is essential. Enjoy your boad..its an addictive hobby..and since I retied ..its almost my full life now 😀 My mate went round Mull with a 10HP so as long as you are sensible ..its easily manageable

Sometimes I scare myself Ray ..but this trip wasnt so bad ..dont forget the goats on Jura too..probably more goats than deer nowadays ? 😀
@ That stag looked like no stag I’ve seen before that would definitely scare the life out of me if the goats are worse I think I’ll Cary a defibrillator with me lol. Thanks again.
