- Michael Urie (Torch Song) and Ryan Spahn (Daniel's Husband) have been together for over 10 years - but only one of them actually attended their first date. It takes a strong couple to bounce back from that kind of start, but thanks to the forces of the universe and a mutual friend, they eventually came together and survived to tell the tale in TheaterMania's latest installment of Broadway First Dates.
Perfect example of how some people who are meant to be together won't actually be aligned or synchronized for years and years prior.
I don't think THEY think it's waste. Things happen when they do. It's called synchronicity.

Took my husband and I 4yrs of basically what this guys went thru. I do remember telling him when we first met that we were gonna end up together. Seven years later...

So true, and timing is everything. I know if I had met my husband a couple of years before I did, I probably would have messed it up. I needed those extra two years to get more comfortable with myself and understand what I really wanted. Not saying that is their situation, but I am saying that things often do seem to happen when they are supposed to.
10 years is a good start. I've been with my husband 46 years and counting. We married in '08 when it became legal in California. Hang in there guys, you can make it!

Just started binge-watching Ugly Betty after many, many years seeing it on network TV. It is one of my favorite TV shows with Michael Urie helping to make it even more delightful than I remember it. As a flight attendant, I had the pleasure of having Michael as a passenger on one of my flights from LAX-JFK back in 2008. I know he doesn't remember that but meeting him that evening was fun and watching this video of how Michael and his partner Ryan got together was heartwarming.
Waow, 10 years, such a good relation. Hope you both always be.

First time I saw Michael Urie was in Partners. Totally entertaining and Michael is very funny. Of course, Brandon Routh was UMMPH YUMMY!!! I wish Michael would do more. He's very talented and a very entertaining actor. I am so happy he's in a wonderful relationship. I've been in mine for over 30 years.
Michael Urie will be 65 years old, and still look like a 25 year old.

Michael Urie and Ryan Spahn make an irresistible couple. I did not enjoy Urie in Ugly Betty, but I saw him in other projects and immediately recognized his huge talent. I'm not familiar with Spahn's work. Their first-date story seems quite unique, and very awkwardly romantic. Wish I had it as my own. Very special.

What would help in making significant connections would be for everyone to simply come out of their lonely, dark closets! It's hard to meet people that we can resonate with deeply when so many are not available because they are too fearful, or they want to be "discreet." We're left with superficial, sexual, cliquish gay venues. Solution, be yourself, be honest, don't allow society to suppress YOU.

Hey... I'm being completely honest.. I was legit obsessed with Ugly Betty and especially a huge fan of Michael Urie.. I actually really looked up to him when I was younger!! . I met him at a clothing store in West Hollywood where I work. I was so excited to help him.. and he literally was the biggest douchebag I have ever met.. and Im I West Hollywood.. it seriously broke my heart and I can't watch Ugly Betty anymore.. I'm being honest.. he was VERY cold and VERY rude.. !
