Yes the island is small in comparison to Jamaica or cuba but it's actually bigger than some of the other Caribbean islands and it's Haiti's biggest island as far as Haiti's offshore islands

It’s the 17th largest island in the Caribbean overall bigger than St Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda.
Even Ile de la Tortue is bigger than some like St Kitts and Nevis.

this island would make a wonderful place to have a HUGE tourist site with hotels, amusement parks and a cruise ship port. so beautiful. would make billions. a place better than disney world.
That’s what the outsiders want to hear, don’t give them too much ideas. Some places need to left untouched. Take care of the mainland first

This island has a longstanding foreign contract on it for developing purposes because the governments be strapped for cash and use them as collaterals to obtain loans to fund their personal lifestyles. 😀 that island and latortue or Tortuga island 🏝 as it's known in American movies🤔
La Tortue has a contract signed by Duvalier père with an American investor that never happened. Last time Carnival Cruise wanted to build a cruise port in Pointe Sable but couldn’t because of that.

Fake contract is news to me as well. But, this whole contract thing sounds like a mess whenever I hear about it. If the gov wanted to resolve that, I'm sure they could have by now as the other side has not rewarded the contract.
@@chillout0550 They can resolve, just typical Haitian gov inefficiency. Martelly’s administration just have taken the opportunity to resolve the issue once and for all. The beneficiary of the contract was ready to go to court too.
