+YachtSalesWestCanada I tried chartering one of these. Its fine for sailing in places that arent constantly sunny. Its also tough to manoeuvre in port and dock because you cant see the other side. Its probably great for sailing!
Hey Geir ! Long time no speak, how are you doing ? Yes, this cat is quite different to the rest .... tanks empty, no dinghy in davits etc though. And lots of wind. I have been reliably informed it does well in 15-20 knots of wind as well. I really missed the flybridge/elevated seating position though :-( really restricted view behind the wheels at the stern, and bit cramped. But the speed is truly unprecedented ..... I rarely did over 10 knots in my 380, that is kind of comparable to this.
great video, when are you making your next video? we are so jealous! our launch date is mid september and departure around beginning november...we learnt a lot from you!
+Jason Robinson it was broken/disconnected. they just displayed it at the London boat show and put the mast back on, think something was disconnected. unbelievable, the one time you really want to see what the windspeed is to have the speed explained/illustrated, the thing breaks !!
it was really fine ... no issue. but: it was in the sheltered part of the solent, between the isle of wight and the mainland so there were no serious waves
Yachting World review said the visibility forward was outstanding. Reviewer noted that it was easier see sitting to leeward, upwind, than most monohulls. So appearances can be deceiving here.
The forward view is very poor on the leeward side. Not as bad as a fly bridge boat with the headsail set but still very poor for fast sailing. Several modern 40 ft multihulls will sail this fast in these conditions, the reel test is what its like in very light airs. Some can do near true winspeed - look at Dazcat 1190 or Rapier 400, and both with much better/safer visibility forward.
No question this is not a "performance" catamaran. I went aboard at the Newport Boat Show, a month or so ago, and it seemed to me its chief virtue is that it's very, very comfortable but quicker than a lot of 40' cats - i.e., the usual suspects. If I'm not mistaken, the cost of the Dazcat (an amazing boat), is quite a bit higher than the Nautitech. Don't know anything about the Rapier 400.
no, they are sailing in 13 feet of water, if you take the same conditions offshore ocean then you will have 5 m ++ seas so speeds of fully reefed and trying to slow the boat down
That gleeful outburst at 2:56 was my favorite part.
+Estreka hahaha priceless... Classic fine multihull moment!
I can't believe how cozy it looks inside even while hitting those speeds!
Awesome!! Love the location of the helms. A true sailor's cat! Can't wait until we get one of these on the west coast.

Beautiful boat, thanks for sharing. You gonna get one?
There boats that give you these speeds without one getting wet, with full visibility!!
Not bad at al. Bavaria has a speedy cat.

18 knots- to use the vernacular That is called "Hauling Ass".... especially in a fat ass heavy boat... awesome....
In such conditions, how did the bridgedeck clearance perform? Slapping, pounding, or nil? Thanks for the video.
I'd really like to know too!
