    I found a really cute pattern to make baby booties, and saw that it required a spike stitch. Being new to crocheting, I looked for a tutorial to learn this stitch and found your video. I realised that the pattern I'm trying belongs to you! I found your website before your youtube channel :) Listening to your voice made me wonder where you're from, as I recognised the familiar South African accent, but also mixed with a bit of an Australian accent. Your About Me page confirmed this. Fellow South African here! Love your tutorial and your pattern! Well done!

      I understand I'm waaay late to reply to this, but I was actually wondering the same thing. I'm thing that you can wrap the yarn around the hook first maybe and just make the next loop extra long... It would probably work with a double stitch too.

    I keep coming up short on stitches at the end of the row of the spike stitch. I'm basically chaining multiples of 6+1. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong though. Maybe it's an extra chain as well?

    • @LaceyDoodle1
      @LaceyDoodle1 3 года назад +1

      I have also came up short and I've torn my work apart 3 times. I think it has to be 6 +2 because of the single crochet at the end of the spike row.

    Can you post a pattern for this? I'm chaining multiples of 6 and adding 1 at the end and I keep coming short on spike stitches and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. It would be easier to read a pattern

  • @ellierideshorses1235
    @ellierideshorses1235 3 года назад

    You say do a multiple of 6 and then 1 then you say chain 1. So if I do a chain 12 and1 that will be 13 then you say chain 1 again so will it be 13 or 14? Sorry if I seen stupid but I do not know.

  • @lng628
    @lng628 8 лет назад +1

    Good tutorial! You mentioned the initial chain is a multiple of 6+1 but when I hear you count initially, it sounds like you're adding another chain to your already multiple of 6 for a 6+2. Is this correct?

    • @jenniferenglish3655
      @jenniferenglish3655 8 лет назад +3

      That is what I am confused on. Is the chain 1 the plus 1 or is chain multiples of 6 then add 1 then chain one for row 2?

    • @marsbeads
      @marsbeads 8 лет назад +1

      try multiples of 6, plus 1

    • @TraciPrest
      @TraciPrest 8 лет назад

      I have the same confusion. So, if she's holding the full chain, I counted 19 chains. So, that would mean that the chain 1 she's beginning row 1 with isn't the +1 of the starting chain.

    Hello I know it's been a couple of years since you posted this video, but I am hoping for your help on a question. I have done the first 7 rows exactly along with you, but my whole pattern kinda crumbles together. I keep pulling my stitches so that they are not being pulled tight , but it doesn't seem to be helping. Can you think of why this would be happening to my project. I thank you in advance should you get back to me.

    • @HopefulHoney
      @HopefulHoney  6 лет назад

      Hello Elvah! 😊 You're probably still pulling your work too tight - try working the spike stitches a bit looser if possible. Another tip, the spike stitch usually does do a bit of curling at the ends of a design/swatch, but blocking will take care of that.

    what's the meaning of multiples of six plus one? anobody can tell me? i dont understand :(

  • @BlondeOasis6
    @BlondeOasis6 4 года назад +1

    Lovely guide, but your starting stitch count is off. You clearly chain in multiples of 6 plus 2! So your rows are 19 stitches in this tutorial to make your pattern.
