Marantz have made some cracking cd players over the years.I owned a special edition model in the late 90s and have recently purchased the new cd 60. The 6007 is a great player!
Had mine for about a year. Absolutely incredible player. Finally upgrading my speakers to catch up with this player
My two stereo systems: the first bought brand new 15 years ago is the Onkyo c-7030 cd, Rotel RA 04SE integrated amp, Wharfedale bookshelf diamond 9.2 all working fine. The second system bought 13 years ago brand new, is a Marantz cd6004, Cayin LA34 tube integrated amp, Wharfedale diamond 10.4 floorstanding speakers. Both systems are playing fine, smooth music which pleases me. I do think of buying a third system but I'm attached and fond of these well made brands. Marantz and Onkyo belong to one company and both cd players are smooth, quiet and very reliable.

Difference you noticed when listening via amp DAC could be the diff. of the DAC inside (EES vs. AKM). 😉

I think the little button is for security, the difficulty makes you not blow your ears. Right now there is a craze for hearing aids, there will be many deaf people.

Yeah … this dsd playing ability is actually useful. I have the teac pd501hr because of space constrains. The player is ok, but has no usb.
You should consider floor coverings or
other sound treatments. I can hear the echo and resonating in that room at conversational levels and the standing waves are probably wrecking your listening experience. Like your videos by the way.
Yes, it doesn't have the best acoustics. I'm considering getting some acoustic wall art, wife acceptance permitting!

I bought a cd 6007 on february in AMAZON UK, yesterday I opened up in order to clean it with some air to remove dust, and I discovered that hte dac chip inside it is not an AK 4490 it is an ESS ES9010 K2M, I feel so ripped off, no one from Marantz answer my emails, I couldn´t found a comunication from Marantz telling this chip change, even the layout is different, the chip it is not surrounded by capacitors as advertised, this is not a way to conduct business based on lies, the whole point on gettting this unit was the AK4490 chip, SHAME ON YOU Marantz

@@UTILITARIANTVUK I am aware of the chip shortage due to the AKM factory fire, but to not aware the customers of this change, it is unbelivable, on top of that I purchased the unit from argentina, so with shipping and customs fees i ended up paying 1100 USD, I am furious

Thanks for the informative video. I an new to hifi systems and would like to know, can I use Marantz CD6007 without the amplifier, just with a speaker system or a JBL 9.1 soundbar? In the same setting, will there be any significant sound difference in Sony Ubp-x800m2?
You could use it with the system connected via optical. However, I doubt whether you would hear much of a difference over the Sony x800 as in both cases, you would be using the DAC in the JBL system

Great video. I have a question though, the remote for my Marantz amp and the remote for the CD player will only adjust the volume, all other commands like skipping tracks and even stop and play won't work when pressing the corresponding buttons. I make sure that the CD input is chosen on the remote, but still no joy. Any ideas?
You need to press the CD button at the very top of the remote, next to the standby buttons. [remote mode]
@@UTILITARIANTVUK still not working unfortunately. I can control the amp with the remote but not the CD6007! Where is the IR receiver on the CD6007, my PM6007 amp has a receiver (round shaped) to the bottom left of the volume, but there’s nothing like that on the CD6007. Quite baffling why the remote isn’t working.
I bought this unit as a refurb from Richer Sounds online but if this unit had this problem previously then surely it would have been fixed before reselling it as a refurb?

Sorry, you are using the cd input right? There isn't much difference between optical and coaxial, right?
In my experience, compared to optical, a coaxial connection does tend to sound better. That's because it has greater bandwidth available, meaning it can support higher quality audio up to 24-bit/192kHz. Optical is usually restricted to 96kHz.
When connecting the cd 6007 to an av reciver which dac im i using the cd players or the av reciver?
It depends on how you connect it.
If you connect it to the receiver with a toslink or coaxial cable,, you will be using the receivers DAC. If you connect with RCA, you will be using the CD players DAC.
You said the HO wasn't very loud. Does the CD6007 not have an HO gain function? Maybe it was on low gain. I 've heard the HO is very good.

Yes I also used that gain function after about 1 year when I read up on it.
Geezer, is having your amp under the CD player OK seeing that the vent is on top of the amp? I would rather have my set up as you have yours but I am paranoid about over heating.
I just quickly placed it like that while doing the video. I've now got the amp on top of the cd player.

Do you have it connected to your amp digitally (optical or coaxial) or do you have it connected to your amp with RCA cables?

Try using a coaxial cable to connect to your amp. That way you will use the DAC in the amp and not the DAC in the CD player. The CD player will just be used as a CD transport. The Cambridge has a 32 bit DAC vs the Onkyo which has a 24 bit DAC. It may or may not make a difference but worth a try. And to answer your initial question, I don't think the CD6007 will make much improvement

I dont have coaxial, but i tried with optical cable, and i compared with my cd player has rca n optical plugged. I tried 1 song and repeating between digital n analog. Honestly i cant feel the difference. Both sounds great . So in your oppinion if i change to marantz n denon, i will have the same results?
Which will be better purely for sound this one or t rotel cd11 tribute?
I've not heard the Rotel but I would imagine there's not much difference between them in terms of sound. But the headphone socket and USB on the Marantz makes it a better choice for me.
Can you pair this cd player with Marshall Woburn III without the amp
I believe the Marshall has RCA connections so you can connect it with RCA leads?

I've got the LP3 too and am also looking at the marantz for CDs. Are you able to use the same speakers with both the turntable and cd player? I just dont get what I need to make that possible. Does the Marantz PM6007 make that possible?
You need an amplifier to play CDs via the CD player. The speakers connect to the amplifier. The PM6007 would be suitable.
Which one better comparing to denon Dcd-900ne? Im confuse to decide which one i should buy

I have a Marantz CD6005 and that shows track names. Press Text on the remote control.
Marantz rise the price $300 more on this, $800 so now is overpriced for what is, $500 is enough for that player.
That's a hell of a price increase . It's still £400 in the UK which is around 500 USD.
Your being ripped off. I presume you're shopping around. I have just looked on amazon u. s. & yes its 800 dollars the same for the amp. Rip off.
In Canada the Marantz CD6007 sells for $1,000.00. I have searched in vain for a better price.

Silly question. Marantz CD players have had CD text since about 2004.
What filter you use in CD6007?
Sorry I'm unsure what you mean by filter?
Any filters are a personal choice but I always use as neutral as can be rather than try tweaking before you even use it. It should naturally be at its best setting.
i've been into hifi for years. 99% of all cd players sound the same. back in 2000 i compaired a 15k linn cd12 against a ps2. no difference. you're all being scammed big time
I recently upgraded my Cd player from a Marantz CD5001 OSE to a Marantz CD6005 and the differnce in sound quality was palpable and significant. I heard sounds in tracks i'd never heard before.
Don't want to be pedantic, but it was hardly an in-depth review if you never even played it.
