The TV show went through over 300 '68-'70 Dodge Chargers. Only one was a R/T 440. Most of the others were 318 cars and two actually had 6 cylinder engines in them.
@@bocat1964 Not true. The 2005 re-boot episodes, they did use 1970 Dodge Chargers because '68-'69 cars were getting too difficult to locate. John Schneider wasn't involved in preparing any of the cars, thus, didn't know what year cars were to be used.
I own a numbers matching 69 318 charger and even though mine is b7 blue with a custom purple bumblebee stripe, I have a small battle flag license plate in the package tray. Gotta show love to the Dukes cuz they made my charger so famous and cool.
you have a beautiful beautiful general lee, with all its accessories, it is a dream, excellent explanation of its original parts of general lee, and seen many general lee on youtube, yours is perfect, beautiful painting. I would like to buy one some day, I hope you understand my English. Greetings from Argentina
The General looks awesome. I've just bought the MPC Country Charger 1/25th scale kit that I'm going to do as a General Lee. It has the narrow bumper bars and the full roll cage so I'm hoping to make it as a Lee 1 replica. I need to get the decals from Ebay as the kits these days don't include the "offensive" proper flag or the crossed flags for the rear. Unfortunately the kit doesn't include the CB radio and antenna, so I'll have to custom make them, but I'm glad you showed yours close enough to be able to copy them.
Wow!! I tell ya, I’ve been a dukes fan since 79 when I first met John promoting the show in Covington and I learned more about the general from you than I’ve ever known. I’m really impressed, because I’m all about being correct on a restoration!
BEAUTIFUL car!!! This is definitely one of the best ones I've seen. I especially love the painted details. I'm working on a General Lee project now, but it's nowhere near the level of yours (and will never be lol). I was wondering if you would consider giving me the measurements for the graphics, I would definitely appreciate it! Thanks
Yeah i commented about the general lee and the dukes of hazzards, one of the vids i saw on here a african american was complaining about this stupid hate symbol, i commented on there, these people need to get a life, people kill people not symbols kill people , these days people are pathetic. I love the dukes of hazzards and that beautiful car including that flag 🤭
What a beautiful car and love the explanation of the flag and number details. I have a 69RT Charger that i just got running in 2023 and have a few vids about it here. It’s no General Lee but I have a couple plans for paying it homage to the Dukes car
Beautiful car Percy, like that you went with hemi orange, thinking about going with that color also when I redo mine, as mine is hugger orange right now. Not trying to be a jerk but wanted to correct some misinformation you stated, your flag is correct to Lee 1 but there are a few variations of the flag through the years as they didn’t pay much attention to details, season 2 episode Jude Emory they have a shot of the roof and the front stars face front. The rear stars face to back. Also at 3:38 the top image of the cross flags that picture is reversed they didn’t remove and reverse the cross flags, I just watched this episode and you’ll notice when they are pulling away which is were this picture is from, Daisy is sitting on the drivers side and Luke is on the passenger side, in the picture you shared it looks like Daisy would be on the passenger side and Luke would be on the drivers side, but that isn’t how it is when watching the show. As far as the vector wheels they never made a 14x8.5 I had a set of 14x7’s originally because Travis told me that’s what they started with and I liked that look, and they have a deeper look because the wheel is a inch shorter making it appear stubbier and also the backset gives it that deeper appearance. For any of the disc brake cars they had to use 15” wheels as the 14” don’t clear the brake caliper, which is what I converted mine to also so I run a 15x7. I have an old add from 1982 American racing vector wheels they only produced these sizes 13x6, 14x6, 14x7, 15x7, 15x8.5, 15x10, 16.5x8.25, and 16.5x9.75, Carroll Shelby wheels were also made in the same size as the American racing vectors. 15x10 was only used in the episode were they jacked it up to go though some bad terrain, 15x10 would hit the front fenders, some have that problem with the original 15x8.5 depending on the stance of there front end. Knowing your are fan as I am just wanted to clear some misinformation as we know there is a lot out there.
Really nice car! You did a lot of research to get it correct, part of the fun of doing one of those cars. I have a 1/24 scale right now, but someday......

Fantastic. I am a fan of the Georgia Lee's. You've done a heck of a job. I was going to say something about the white letter tires, but you stated that is the way you like them. That's okay! Your rendition is spot on. I love the old charger head rests. Have you thought about adding them?
@Todd Krosman John Schneider himself said the cars were NOT Corvette red or Hemi orange or anything but a mixture of orange that turns out to be a near exact match to TNT EXPRESS orange. As was mentioned in another video as well.
I was going to ask what engine size it was, since the original was a 383 (though I think the studio went with about any engine in the 'jumper' cars). I happened to be helping someone with a Challenger restoration this past week, and the topic came up, 'what engines actually came as valid options OEM on the Challenger R/T, to which the answer is 4-basic options...the 383, the 440 Magnum, the 440-Six Pack, and of course, the 426-Hemi. The Charger in '69 also offered the 318. The Charger R/T actually had more 'variants' of the 383 than the Challenger (couple of different hp offerings based on carburetion). Several online sources say it was also offered with the 225-slant 6-cylinder, but I have never seen or heard of an actual 'street car' that had this configuration.
