      But what does the sequel have to offer if the darkest thing this movie could offer was its mean-spirited tone (even without a villain/antagonist) instead of all the soul of the original movie that knows how to have fun with it?
      Well… credit (no pun intended) where credit is due, the reward we get at the end of this movie (and yes, that includes the credits) is a catchy song by Ryan Evans (keep in mind, I did say “reward” because even though the movie did (barely) thank us for sitting through all of its shit, it’s hard to buy the only best thing about it to end the mid-2000s as a whole because this movie was made in December 2006).

    I watched the Fox and the Hound as a kid and loved how subtle and serious it was kinda like Bambi. It didn't need to be grand and epic (aside from the chases and final confrontation) it just told the truth about life and how tough friendships can be especially from opposing sides and how harsh the world can be. I still love it as an adult and appreciate the heart of it.
    When I first heard about this movie (from a 10 second trailer announcing it) I thought, "Whatever, I'm not seeing it". When I heard that it was about them joining a band these were my reactions: "WHAT?", *head desk* , *face palm* , *Cringe!* , and *GAG!* Nice animation aside I can't even look at this thing!
    1) Chief's voice is all wrong. I know there's no bringing back the original actor, but the studio's not even trying, "Just grab the cheapest set of actors you can get" is what I'm guessing they thought.
    2) The slapstick's painful
    3) It's way too colorful and looks Home on the Range-ish, just less entertaining
    4) I don't care if those dogs are good singers or howlers it's horrendous and I want to tear my ears off!
    5) 8:58 was the only good line in the movie and kinda made me laugh.
    6) Copper singing makes me want slash my ears. No offense to the child actor, but seeing/hearing Copper sing is utterly painful!
    7) Patrick Swayze what are you doing here? You're better than this.
    8) The owners at 13:43? No just no.
    9) The bad children's movies cliches oh the cliches! I feel insulted every 5 seconds.
    Disney clearly hates me and it shows in this movie. Thank you so much for ripping this movie to shreds and comparing it to the first and 10x better movie :)

    i love the original Fox and the Hound movie. it's one of those movies that never gets old no matter how many times you watch it.
    can't say the same about the sequel. this movie clearly shows that Disney didn't give a flying fuck about their sequels. the original characters this time around are either generic (Todd and Copper) or are barely in the movie at all (Widow Tweed, Slade, Chief), the animation might be good, but it still doesn't live up to the first movie, the new characters are terrible (Cash has to be the *WORST ONE*!), the slapstick sucks, the story's full of holes and cliches, the songs suck and the fact that it almost completely ignores the first movie like it never happened makes it even more of a disgrace. the only Disney sequels that are worth-watching are: Bambi 2, Lion King 2, Cinderella 3 (believe it or not), Rescuers: Down Under and even Aladdin 3. i'd rather be watching one of *THOSE* movies then sitting through this piece of shit again!

    • @LoudmouthReviews
      @LoudmouthReviews  8 лет назад +3

      Technically Walt Disney Animation studios has only produced 3 sequels in their 80 year history. The Rescuers Down Under, Fantasia 2000, and Winnie the Pooh (2011). Wreck it Ralph 2 is set to be their fourth in 2018. All other sequels were produced by Disneytoon studios who handle Disney's animated television programs. Of the Disneytoon sequels while I don't consider any of them to good I would mostly agree the ones you listed are probably the best but compared to stuff like Atlantis Milo's Return and Cinderella 2 Dreams come true that isn't say much

      @@LoudmouthReviews The only thing about The Fox and the Hound 1 we don’t love would have to be the misogynistic line from Todd during his quarrel with his girlfriend/future wife Vixen (lucky Big Mama, a woman who could be ethnically black because of her voice didn’t take offense because if Copper had a wife, lord knows how well she would be able to take it, which is not at all) which shows it was made in the (ending a couple decades later in 2K) last millennium. But outside of that, this movie really is what the sequel should have been. An amazingly animated, grippingly somber and three-dimensional stand-alone movie (and TF&TH2 not been a thing a quarter-century later to prove that even an underrated animation studio like DisneyToon can make indefensible (outside of nostalgia) downers from time to time).

  • @zackrules4797

    Awesome Review! The Fox and the Hound 2 is possibly one of the worst Disney sequel ever made! It may have good animation and decent voice-acting. But everything else about the film really does suck, the story has got absolutely nothing to do with the original, the songs are terrible (expect You Know I will song, which plays in the end credits may possibly be the only good song), the dialogue is dull, the humor is stupid, the slapstick is totally unfunny and boring, the jokes are so unfunny, Cash and Dixie are the worst characters of the film. (Not even Patrick Swayze and Reba McEntire could save the characters.) Speaking of Dixie, she feels like this movie's version of Mushu from Mulan ll. This and The Wild are possibly the worst Disney films of 2006. I don't think even kids could like this movie, especially ones that watch the original. I've give The Fox and the Hound 2 a 1 out of 10.

  • @SJ_RANKS

    The reason for all the direct to video Disney sequels is because Disney was really suffering at the time most of their movies weren't making and after home on the range didn't do so well with critics and at the box office they closed their 2D animation (yes the princess and the frog saved it) and they were having a falling out with Pixar debating on wether toy story 2 will be a direct to video sequel so yeah the early 2000's was a pretty dark time for Disney not as dark as the 70's but still pretty bad

    • @LoudmouthReviews

      Loudmouth Reviews well it saved it for the most part but yeah it's pretty much dead but it still would be nice to see another hand drawn animated film again rather than seeing Disney do live action remakes of there early work I'm not to excited about Tim burton directing dumbo after what he did to Alice in wonderland and Charlie and the chocolate and no I did not Charlie and the chocolate factory i don't hate Tim burton but his last few films haven't been exactly that good on top of that dumbo is a bright and colourful film and I just don't think Tim burtons dark and moody style would work in a film like that

    Tod uses milk to fix Copper's peanut butter problem...
    8 years of school concert, jazz and show choir, and milk is one of the worst things you could drink before singing. It destroys your vocal quality and makes it all phlegmy, plus it messes with your stomach.

  • @Tombola1993
    @Tombola1993 7 месяцев назад +1

    You think Tod’s singing is worse than Copper’s? Hearing a fox’s shrill shrieking, especially from a vixen, sounds more terrifying than annoying. Especially at night. Like a canine banshee, they are.

  • @DowntownWithBrown
    @DowntownWithBrown 7 лет назад +5

    Here's an idea that I have for an actual Fox and the Hound sequel: a crossover with Bambi. Many people theorized that Man killed Tod's mother in the prologue, so it could fit. Since Bambi didn't also get a real sequel and has a similar setting, I think they go hand-in-hand.

      I would say the biggest mistake the original made was not having Chief die when he got hit by the train. It would have made Cooper's 180 as a character from going out of his way to protect Todd to opening trying to kill him make more sense if Chief had actually died instead of just breaking his leg. Chief really didn't contribute anything to the story from that point on so I don't know why he survived the crash

  • @Grashcoy

    Of course I stand with the majority opinion around here saying that this movie sucks in almost every way imaginable and of course I also believe the original one was a great film. This is not to say however that an actual sequel for "The Fox and The Hound" necessarily would go bad, while the main reason "The Fox and The Hound 2" sucked was primarily because they didn't try at all, cared little and probably the toys argument also played a part in this, they could have made a great film if they really wanted to and cared about the original film enough to follow it up.
    In order to make a sequel to a particularly complex work like the original film one must first understand and comprehend the main themes addressed in it, what can be followed up and what new message related to the main themes can be added to such a film, the only place to start is after the very end of the original, so the thought process that SHOULD have gone through the creators minds and obviously didn't was:
    -The main themes were friendship, the coming of age, acceptance of loss, forgiveness, loneliness and change. Prejudice sort of takes a backseat, because it is more of the means through which we get to the true main themes of the film, rather than the main point of it.
    -Most of these themes can have a follow up in a sequel to "The Fox and The Hound" all they need is a new angle and new thoughts and opinions on the matter.
    -By the end of the original, the main characters are separated and it is implied that they'll probably never see each other again, so let's follow up on their lives separately and see if we can come up with new ideas on the main themes, should there be the need of new characters, carefully plan them so that they fit the story and themes well.
    Other than that I'd say push their luck and HEY maybe they could have even come up with a brilliant film, now that I think about what I just outlined, it makes me wanna watch THAT rather than TF&TH 2, kinda like an alternate bad timeline where in we got this terrible film instead of a brilliant one haha.
    Anyways, great review, it fits my sentiments on the film perfectly, the original one was avenged.

    I've said it before that this movie could have easily been made in to an original movie. Something cute and cliche. Hell I wrote it out already. Little pup is mistreated at a puppy farm and kept from being adopted, she leaves, ends up at the Fair, meets the Singing Stray's, which I renamed the Country Hounds, they sing country, their hound both means dog and one who seeks, which they are seeking fame. The pup see's the group practice, Dixie walks off and when the group performs the pup takes her place, and sings better then Copper that is for sure.
    The group learns she's being mistreated and figure she just needs a little fun, but she still has to go home. The movie goes on and songs are kept but altered.
    And in the end the puppy farm is closed and our little pup is adopted by Cash and Dixie and goes on to be a star with her new family.

    Best disney sequels for me; Bambi 2 (Excellent message about family and courage, the Prince is a good father and his relation with bambi is adorable, the animation is sumptuous, the songs are sweet. One of the best sequels for sure :D) Lion King 2 and Lion King 1|2 (Pretty animation and songs, simple and interresting plots, awesome villains especially Zira, good humor and drama. I love them both equally!) Beauty and the Beast enchanted Christmas (Great songs, ok animation, cool and intimidating villain, good moral, the characters are likable and more developped. It's a fun story!) Peter pan 2 (Funny animation, cute songs, Hook is even funnier than before and he's more manipulative, Jane is pretty mature and responsible for her age which is impressive, the music is pretty, the adventure is fun. It's really enjoyable!)

    I love The Fox and the Hound. It has beautiful animation and a heartfelt story and even at 32 years old, it still makes me cry. This movie was just SHIT. Vile, heinous, lazy, uncreative insultingly boring shit that did absolutely nothing to honor its predecessor. At least in Bambi II, (which like The Fox and the Hound had a gap between when the characters are children and when they return as adults,) they actually GIVE US a legitimate and somewhat creative reason for that story....which is to show us what Bambi's relationship with his father was like after his mother died. THIS vile abomination doesn't even do that. It bores us to tears for an hour and then it leaves us EXACTLY where the original did....with Todd and Copper as children separated by their fate because one is destined to be a hunter and the other is destined to be his prey. We gain NOTHING with this movie other than a headache. It is ALMOST as bad as Beauty and the Beast 3 and CInderella 2 and by almost I mean by the skin of its teeth. There was no reason for this POS to be created.

      Ngl, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, like most other DreamWorks Animation works, is actually a lot of fun (don’t get me wrong. It has flaws like the forced romantic subplot between the cartoonish King Julien and a mostly realistic bear. But the inventiveness of the circus animals and epic animation more than make up for it).

      My own positives are. the animation, the voice acting and the end credits song" You I Know Will". and that's it!

    Still the worst DTV Disney animated follow-up ever. Great review, man. (BTW, it is me under a new account.)
    The only ones I have enjoyed are The Return of Jafar (1994), Aladdin and the King of Thieves (1996), The Lion King II: Simba's Pride (1998), Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure (2001), 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure (2003), & Bambi II (2006).

      Credit where credit is due, at least Home on the Range, despite being one of our least favourite WDAS films up to the ranks of the one that came afterwards (Chicken Little 2005) did have catchy credits songs (especially Anytime You Need a Friend).
