as an air force brat we lived there from 57 to 60. would love to see the base housing again but the google cam is not allowed in that area it seems. i loved running thru the forest as a kid.
My late father was a USAF S/Sgt stationed at SG 1951-54. We lived in Botesdale (6 mi up the A143). I was in the 1st grade at the base school (with adjacent plowed fields). Sure hard to recognize anything there now - maybe some old remnant Quonset/Nissen huts that were once the Commissary, BX, or theatre. Sure wish that I had a scale map of the base buildings from back then.
I realise I'm talking to you 7 years after you posted this comment. But anyway. There has been lot of development on the hepworth road A143 end of the runway. I believe the control tower was demolished in the 80s or 90s but a few nissan hut still stand along with the fire station. Where was the cinema? would you be able to remember. Most of the ashfelt runway has gone but if you look on google earth you'll see that there are quite a few old builing left although they are removing some now.
We lived there from around 55-58...I went to base school from 1st to 3rd grade. I loved playing in the woods ...they were across the street from our house.

Does anyone know what the building at 1:19 was used for?
None of what I have seen on this video is recognised by me from Thor Missile days
