  • Ghion Hotel originated from the building built by Emperor Haile Selassie for his son, Prince Sahle Selassie, and started serving as a hotel in 1943E.C. After the hotel was confiscated during the Derg era and had been providing hotel and various services, in 1984, by the Council of Ministers Proclamation No. 25/84, Regulation No. 107/85, all the branches previously managed by the organization were taken over for 19,280,000.00 Birr (nineteen million two hundred and eighty thousand Birr). Capital has been established as a government development company in a new form.
    In accordance with the government's policy to transfer hotel establishments to private ownership, the branches of Ghion Hotels have been transferred to private ownership at different times. Ghion Hotel is a two-star hotel located in the heart of Addis Ababa city with an area of 123,369 square meters and a beautiful garden. Currently, there are 184 men and 174 women, with a total of 358 permanent employees.
    The Hotel by building internal capacity and modernizing the hotel's service centers, expanding them, opening new service centers and modernizing and supplementing the hotel's internal equipment, as well as strengthening the manpower, by providing the hotel services required by the economic growth of our country and the hotel industry of the time, reaching the level of a 5-star hotel that is planned to be reached by 2022E.C. He laid down his vision.
    The Hotel is a public enterprise engaged in room service, garden service for different events and Bazar, food and beverage service, swimming service for children and adults, gym service, hall rents for wedding, meetings, and other different services. At these days Ghion Hotel is one of the profitable public enterprises in the country with respect to the Hotel service.
