Since there is also a science side of Tumblr, it's funny to think that there's a bunch of highly respected scientist from different branches living in their own area and they all look like they just woke up, pajamas with slippers, holding a cup of coffee, messy hair and tired, *constantly*
Not even scientists, just people who know how to use google or just have some random trivia everyone goes to to ask about nuclear physics
I discovered it and it is infinitely more delightful than the science side of Twitter, which was the only semi-sane side of it
if you want their thoughts on anything, you don't knock on their doors, you yell "hey what do you guys think of this?" down the hall. most of the time they'll answer.

Its still such a trip to me that Neil Gaiman is not only on tumblr, still after all these years, but that he's as active there as on Twitter if not more so and he's basically just there like anybody else.

@@thealchemistking4063 Neil Gaiman is a modern fantasy author. He's most famous for writing the _Sandman_ comics and collaborating with Terry Pratchett on _Good Omens,_ and managing the recent adaptation of both to streaming as well as Good Omens season 2 based off some plans they had that never made it to print.
He's also the author of several other stories of his own, including _Coraline, American Gods, Anansi Boys, Neverwhere, Stardust,_ and many others.

Now I want there to be a Sitcom that takes place in the "Tumblr apartment", with the main characters being a 3 year resident whose gotten used to everything, the resident whose been there since the beginning and has seen everything, and the newcomer who doesn't know what they're getting into. All three are neighbors, and they have to deal with all the random stuff that happens.

As someone who actually uses Tumblr and likes it. It's exactly like some weird sort of Apartment complex, and all the references.

So actually that complex in the thumbnail isn't as wild and random as you might think. The structure has a normal hallway that goes around the perimeter of the complex, leaving the inside area open. The Apartments are stacked offset from the corner so that every suite has two corner windows and a balcony. Its a fun an effective use of space (as long as your definition for use of space isn't just the interior rooms of the apartment but also the campus as well)
It's a real apartment complex just in Montreal, in case anyone is wondering.

Habitat 67 is one of my favourite buildings... ever. It looks really cool!
There was this time someone got shot right outside my apartment.

Ok, I'm assuming you're not on Tumblr, so, for context: there was an ad of some guy in a really creepy anthropomorphic Pikachu costume, Pikaman, that was EVERYWHERE a while back. You couldn't go five minutes without seeing that damn ad. I don't even remember what it was advertising, but that guy has stuck in Tumblr's collective consciousness, and he's showing no signs of leaving any time soon, even though the ad itself is long gone

the naked guy was the porn blogs. the crabs are a thing - not too long ago they let you buy and gift people virtual crabs to cover their blogs.
Pukicho and the pikachu guy are separate. The pikachu guy was an ad that showed up for a couple months of a guy dressed up in an anthropomorphic pikachu costume.
Pukicho is an eldritch being who will outlive us all
There is another infamous pikachu user. We call him pikachu man. He is infamous because he looks uncanny and appears in alot of Tumblr ads.

i heard that they are selling shoelaces and water bottles. and you can buy checkmarks (up to like 30) to put on your blog and can choose the color and you can buy and gift crabs, but i don't know if they are still have those features. honestly if they made it like, public like AO3 and asked for donations, they might be able to stay alive if they promise no ads.

There's also the near-endless hallway with the "color of the sky" mural. It doesn't show up super often anymore, but some people get really excited when they come across it. And it *is* pretty even if it's inconveniently long.

The more i hear from Tumblr, the more I realize how glad I am that I never got into that mess. ....and don't even get me started on the Circle of Hell that is Twitter. 🤢
I don’t have Tumblr either, but honestly it just sounds like the polar opposite of Twitter. Yeah you still got your bozos, but at least the whole site isn’t the very definition of brain rot, just a bunch of shower thoughts
Atleast it's infinitely better than twitter, they got some niche communities and people who I seem to have more in common with than my own friends
