It's on my Bucket List to go to visit Mackinac Island, Michigan, USA. What a dream community- horses and bicycles! Historic buildings and homes! DDT killed so much! I am so glad that Mackinac Island is ecologically aware now.

Awesome! I’ve been using fly predators for years and love them. I was on the island last summer and noticed that the flies were not bad at all. I meant to ask what type of fly spray is used but I forgot. We talked to some of the stable managers, very neat place.

I absolutely love Spalding fly predators. I used them one year and it didn't seem like they worked but they must have bred over the winter because the next year I had Zero Flys. I have 7 horses and live on a cattle ranch. Having no flys was wonderful. Right now I cannot use them because it is to dry out here now, as we are in a major drought and they do need moisture, I believe.

@@sphinxrising1129 well we had a horse barn next to the liquor store right behind the Nephews Jantzen Shop and a Joann's fudge. Horse flys that gave a nasty bite. Nancy Nephew and I ran the Jantzen shop for Frank and Joan Nephew.

I did a bit of googling, and found that "Fly Predators" is the brand name Spalding Labs uses for the parasitic insects they sell. They're doing a bit of marketing trickery by selling the eggs as a "product" instead of insects used for biological control the way most other companies do, so they're not about to give you any real information. They may be using Nasonia vitripennis plus a few other types.

🥵I have ordered fly predators from several companies over the years and Spalding is the absolute WORST company I have ordered from. Their first shipment was dead, no signs of life after two weeks, I called to let them know that, they said they'd send a comp shipment pronto, they never shipped it, they admitted it had not shipped when I called them the next month. That next month's shipment also never arrived. We had flies all over the place. I asked each call that someone in the company contact me within 24 hours to let me know they were shipping. They NEVER responded. I cancelled the whole year's subscription and am demanding a refund of the dead early shipments I already paid them. They don't care how they treat their customers and they show utmost disrespect to their customers by refusing to respond to a paying customer when the order failed over and over again.
