I had my camper trailer delivered to me and upon opening it it had small tears in the canvas, after a full year of phone calls a got a brand tent delivered to my door, as for the tears i fixed them and i have a new tent ready to put on if i need to in the future or pass it on if i ever sell it..
@tonylawton6513 so disappointing isn't it to get a brand new camper and have things wrong with it. Glad you finally got a new tent, what a great idea will be a great selling feature to have brand new canvas on the camper. Thanks for watching!
Rust under paint means there was no surface prep done, simply sprayed over rusty steel, pretty poor I reckon, there probably a few more surprise for you to find
Yeah it is disappointing, especially when you have just picked up your new camper. Other than that it really has been a great camper. The current trip we are on we have really pushed it and it hasn't missed a beat. So fingers crossed no more surprises 🤞😁
Our Robbo is brand new 2021, been out twice, just don't get a chance, would love to get out more. . . We also had very minor issues, I mean minor. One was my fault busting the solar pole (twice 😬). Also an issue with the over centre latches out of line on the boat rack. I like setting up and do it myself (I'm 63) People check out the inside and 1) are blown away by the space, 2)the next question is "how much$" ; its so funny I can see the numbers crunching , they have to try justify 60-90k for a van with a pittance of the space! Yep these are good value, no doubt about it!
Hi Mark they are great campers arent they! Shame you haven't been able to get out more, hopefully you can get out and enjoy it more this year 🤞 So good you can set them up on your own hey, certainly alot easier with two but doable on your own which is nice. Safe travels mate and thanks for watching!
@@RoaminintheRobbo Thanks so much, what you people are doing your kids will value into eternity! It does take a bit of me time setting up!. @@markgrant4087 I love that you are still determined to get out camping no matter what, that is awesome! Hope you and the family have many more adventures in your Robbo! Robbo's rule 🤘😁
I continue to use MT tyres on my camper for the same reason I have them on my vehicle. I am a prospector and the Goldfields bust is horrendously hard on tyres and sideways and the trailer is as exposed to stacking as the vehicle. Hence MT with kevlar sidewalls. So yep, may not be a drive wheel, but I don't to be plugging trailer tyre's all day😅 Consider your travel scenario in view of tyre's. 👍
💯 % Match your tyres to the terrain. I've just blown out one of the original cheap chinese MT's. Punctured the sidewall on a 4x4 track. I've since replaced them for Federal xplora RT's. Hopefully, they'll do the trick. Cheers for watching. 🍻
I've had some of the same small issues with my 2nd hand Cruizer Highside. Especially collapsing the sticky poles (that way when I got it). I've been using some good old WD40 on them and it helps. I'm still very happy with it. Yes, AT tires would be much better on the trailer and even better if they match what's on the truck. If there was one thing I could change that I absolutely would is to make the trailer hubs (Toyota 6 stud) match my old school Defender hubs so all the rims would be interchangeable. Good video, thanks!!
Yes how good would it be if the stud pattern matched so the rims were interchangeable! Would be so handy! The cruisers are a nice camper we considered that one as well. Happy and safe travels mate, thanks for watching and your kind feedback 😁
The scalloping on the tyres is from the camber being out. (likely on the opposite side) Had it happen twice after only slightly going over the 10000kms each time before getting her serviced. I'd get it done asap or you'll burn the tyre like we did 😕
Thanks mate! Remember seeing you had the same issue. We are getting it serviced soon before we hit the road, so hopefully that sorts it out. Though to be honest won't be to sad to go through them so we can change them out to AT 😂
Hi mate I'm from Melbourne with same camper had camper well over year only taken it out 5 times same issue's only small things rod in couch steps back tobar starting to rust where welds are tyres look cheap I put plenty of lubricant all over camper but I wonder Wether it's for nothing due to how much surface rust could be under paint thanks for yor videos and time good times
Hi mate! Great choice in camper 😁 shame you have had the same issues. Hopefully the lubricant isn't for nothing 🤞 touch wood we haven't come across anymore rust. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment we appreciate your support!
I am started to get more and more interested in this model, but cant seem to find the specs and capacity of the boat rack. Do you by chance know the width and rating?
Hey mate our camper currently has a caravan cover on it which makes it a bit hard to measure the boat rack exactly, but it is roughly 3 mts x 1.9mts. You can carry up to 120kgs on the rack. Hope that helps, good luck with your decision making!
Hey mate to be honest mainly out of laziness 😂 it is just another thing to put on and take off and then have to store somewhere at camp. We have had the camper over 2 years now and have not once travelled with it and touch wood we have not had any issues with dust and water getting in so far. I think though when we hit the road next month we may consider travelling with it just incase 😁
hi guys , i have been following your adventures and you really have some good times , i just have a theory why the tyres are wearing like they are, if you have a good look at the tyre you will notice the lug before and after are differant ,if you look at a tyre that hasnt been used you will see it is a bit higher and goes further to the outside so it looks like like it takes more weight, if that is what is happening when its down level with the other lugs it should stop.. my tyres are the same so i will keep an eye on them and see what happens.i hope i explained so you can understand .cheers Dwane
Hey Dwane. Cheers for watching and sharing your theory. I just went and had a look and I see what you mean. While I was there I had a super close look at all the tread blocks, and they all display uneven wear...even the ones in the middle. Some of the individual blocks have worn spots on the outsides leaving the center unworn...it's a real head scratcher huh. Best of luck with yours and let me know how you go. Craig
@@dwaneroberts appreciate you trying to help mate! We are getting the trailer serviced soon so hopefully he can see what is causing it. Thanks for the support Dwane, safe travels to you and your family!
Rust under paint equals poor quality. What about the chassis? Same deal perhaps? If they're not galvanised to save weight, then the steel should be sand blasted to white metal, then primed with a 2 pack paint before top coating. Wish these caravan companies could keep it real
@jasonbarnes5605 yeah it was pretty disappointing to find, especially given we had just got it. They sent us replacements, which we haven't actually fitted we are still using the rusted ones till they die. Haven't seen any on the chassis, but did have some on the rear bar which they also replaced. We absolutely love the camper, but it is disappointing to have that stuff go wrong on it.
cheap Chinese garbage. Glad I bought a used Aussie made camper rather than a new one of these. Imagine how much rust is lurking beneath all that paint. And look at all those fugly welds at 9:04.
