  • This video represents the closing film, "Surfing the 50’s", provided by Anna Trent Moore of the Bud Browne Film Archives and Anna’s ability to bring together a cross section of surfers to discuss the film after its viewing. Anna also honored Joey Cabell for his contribution to surfing which began in the 1950s and crossed several decades.
The Honolulu Museum of Art and Doris Duke Theatre through its theater manager Sarah Fang provided the second component in making this history possible. Sarah has been tasked with managing the Honolulu Surf Film Festival for the last several years recognizing that the Bud Browne Film Archives represents the truest form of surf film making. Bud Browne is known as the father of the surf film genre. Sarah and her committee accrued some great films for this year's festival.
The panelists included Randy Rarick, Jock Sutherland, Joey Cabell, Mark Healy, Darrick Doerner, and Dave Wassel. Anna acted as emcee.
Thank you to Bill Brooks for the use of his instrumental music on this video.
