  • Prior to this video I really had no idea what kind of automated trucks Rizzo had been running. To my surprise, I managed to find three G-S CollecStar 8000 Automated Side Loaders. However, I only managed to film this brief video of one. However more should be coming within the next few weeks / months. But for now, enjoy this footage.
    One really neat thing about these trucks are their body design is heavily based off of the MP8000 recycling body. The arm, however is quite similar to the design that the now defunct company Athey had used on their automated trucks in the 1980s.
    Thanks to the driver for being friendly enough to allow me to film his truck.

    I think they've been making them for a few years now. I know they make three recycling bodies (3000, 5000, and 8000 series) As well as the 6000 Series which is for rear loaders with a small recycling body between the RL body and chassis.

    I do plan on getting more footage in the next few months. Ideally I would like to get a decent amount of footage of these trucks on all three streams.

    I also was quite surprised with this truck's quick dumping cycles.

    WOW! Never knew that GS-Products made ASLs.. Really like its design too. I only thought they made over the top 2 stream recyclers, cauz that's all they use where I live. BTW, at 1:34 in the vid when the truck stopped, herd a roaring sound, this truck is using a transmission retarder to help the truck stop easily!

    What a cool truck, a real throwback to some of the early ASLs. Will you be getting more?

    This was in Shelby Township. I thought Eastpointe just switched from WM. I would imagine that if automated is not in the new contract then it wont be coming until the next contract renewal.

    Not really, the only ASL arm design that I can think of that resembles a Sidewinder would be Labrie's Cool Hand. I would say this is more like Athey or Rand's arm designs.

    So this is in Shelby township? And what trucks do they use in Rochester?

    • @mtr82952
      @mtr82952  10 лет назад

      Yep, Shelby Twp. They use RL's with cart tippers in Rochester. They have a good assortment of RL's. McNeilus (standard and tag axle) Leach (2R2 and 2R3) Heil (5000, Power Track, and PT1000) New Way King Cobras, and E-Z Pack Goliaths. Their automated trucks are mostly GS CollesStars, they use them in Shelby Twp., Eastpointe, and Hamtrammack as far as I know. They also have a couple Curottos too, however I have yet to find one actually on route. Not sure if you heard but Detroit is outsourcing their collection. The routes are being divided up between Rizzo and Advanced Disposal.

    Would you know what trucks they will be using in Detroit and if/ when they are getting new carts. I would like to snag one of the detroit toters for myself if they are getting rid of them.

      The contracts starts in March. I am not sure what they will buy. I know Rizzo has been buying these GS CollecStars lately, so perhaps they will be getting a giant fleet of them. As for Advanced, I have no idea what they are going to use. As far as I know the old carts are staying, although I am not positive. I probably should find out since I really want to grab a couple of the really old Heil carts. I do know both companies are rolling out recycling carts though.
