Rosenbauer is pitching electric ladders in Europe, but I have no idea if anybody has bought one. As for being "green" IMHO, it is a big fallacy: a structural fire in the US produces much more toxic gasses in a minute, then a modern diesel truck in a year, so the trick is to extinguish the fire as soon as possible. For this electric (hybrid) transmission may actually be handy, as it allows some non-traditional configurations of fire apparatus, that can allow to get to a fire faster, be more maneuverable, have more people, water and equipment onboard. Also for non fire calls hybrid drive allows to significantly save on diesel. Also, hybrid vehicles can provide much better onsite working conditions for firefighters due to being less noisy when pumping.
