For making unions, what are pros and cons of using laser engraver vs. cnc? Laser starting prices much less but not sure of limitation vs cnc.
So CNC is cheaper, and more versatile. The laser doesn’t come into contact with the wood, so you don’t have to secure it, good for workflow. The look is also different, and you don’t ever need to change out bits like you do on a CNC.
Please help: I just bought a laser, the Longer 5W 400mm x 400m. I am having a hard time figuring out how to get the natural wood color to come out. All my projects are black and burned.

Watching that laser work is amazing. You do great work! Why does the laser not leave a burned black stars like most of the laser engraving videos where they are engraving on wood?
Thank you! So the burning can come from a few different sources, power too high, speed too low, (maybe a combination of both) and I also had a problem with the air assist blowing the smoke straight into the fresh cut and that blackened it up also. So now I only use the air assist of in cutting through material
